"A fantastic resort 👌"

10.0

Our holiday to the Maldives had been cancelled due to the Middle Eastern conflict . We had just a month before the departure date to find another holiday. We decided as things were , it was better to go west and head to the carribean, but being that late in the day , resorts were booked, and flight prices were going up . We wanted an adult only resort ,so choice was limited. We have stayed at Sandles resorts before but thought we would try couples as they had great reviews. We were understandably upset at our dream holiday being cancelled, but we were looking forward to seeing how couple resorts shaped up ! We were not disappointed. We had booked a garden room with partial sea view . The rooms were well laid out and clean . The bed is so comfortable. A good size shower room (no bath) has shower gel ,shampoo, soap and hairdryer. Also, they supply little extras like shower caps , make-up remover pads, etc . There are plenty of clean towels. A bathrobe each is also a nice touch . The room also has a safe ,iron, and ironing board. Flat screen t.v ,although you really only get a couple of channels, and the sound is terrible! Veranda is small but functional with two chairs, a table and a place to hang wet swim stuff, etc . I should, of course, mention the full-size bottles of spirts and wines ,which were replaced when asked. Four restaurants and bars , which were amazing. We tried to eat at different ones for variety, but the grill and Lychee restaurant were our favourites . Make sure you book the a la cart restaurant early as it can get booked up very quickly . You can only book up to two days in advance. The beach was gorgeous, which they raked every morning, and the sea was crystal clear and so calm. We didn't use the main pool but used the smaller diving pool when quiet . My husband is an experienced diver, and this is where there was a bit of a negative experience. Although my husband has been a diver for many years and trained SAA club diver in the UK waters , the dive team would not accept his certificates. He had to pay for a course ,which was $400 . This was very unfair as his diving credentials and experience were only partially recognised , he therefore had to effectively go back to school !! He did, however, take full advantage of the free diving and enjoyed two dives every day. The guys at the dive centre were fantastic. There were two complementary snorkelling trips a day , which I took advantage of, which were brilliant, and we saw some amazing marine life. Evening entertainment was very good . The staff were all so friendly and polite. All in all, this was a fantastic resort, and we met some lovely people . We will definitely be back in the future ❤️

"Can’t wait for trip #3!!!!!"

10.0

This was my second trip staying at Couples Negril, and I hope to return soon!!! The beautiful property, tropical atmosphere, kind and helpful staff were all amazing!! Our room was cleaned and refreshed each afternoon when we returned from enjoying all the resort had to offer, so nice! Days lounging around the pool, participating in the health and wellness activities, swimming in the beautiful ocean water were all on the menu every day! Speaking of menus, the restaurants all had wonderful waitstaff and great items, if you just need a snack or a 5 course meal! The duck, lamb and fillets were all incredible, plated so well….. I’m so blessed to be working as a member of FitBodies Inc. - the activities were fun, with an awesome, energetic crowd! EVERYONE was there having FUN!!!!

"10th Anniversary Trip"

10.0

My wife and I rescheduled our 10th Anniversary trip after Hurricane Melissa delayed us until May. We spent 2 weeks at Couples Negril. The beach is beautiful, there are lots of activities, the food is good, the staff is friendly. We enjoyed snorkeling, sailing, pickleball, seeing the stingrays on the beach every morning, the steel drums, the fire show, and more. The room was clean with a rainfall shower that was a treat, and our garden view balcony was peaceful. Michael, O'Brien, Nickay, Mario and all the guys from watersports were great. Donna in food service and the trainees Kellya and Kevaugh stood out. We enjoyed the repeaters dinner and meeting some of the management. The smoothie bar always had great treats during the day, and we enjoyed fresh coconuts on ice for refreshment. Highly recommend.

"Trust the negative reviews - this hotel was a big let down and NOT worth it"

6.0

We were overall very disappointed with our experience at this hotel. I had read tons of reviews on Google and Trip Advisor and most people rave about this place. And to be frank -- I don't get it. Other resorts we have stayed at include Secrets Akumal and Playa Mujeres in Mexico, BodyHoliday and St. James Club Morgan Bay in St. Lucia and Lopesan in Dominican Republic. All of these resorts kick this resort out of the water and were cheaper! This trip cost us approx $6500 CAD. Normally for a true 5 start resort, I don't mind paything that. But this was a far cry from a 5 star resort. This is more of a 3-3.5 start resort. The best thing Couples Negril has going for it is its beach. The beach was beautiful, picture perfect white sand, see-through turqoise water, shallow, no rocks, no waves. However, also no coral/snorkeling to see at all if that is important to you. You can tell that this is an older hotel that is definitly in need of a renovation to keep its supposed "5 start" status. Our room was clean and comfortable enough and housekeeping did a decent job coming daily and leaving us with enough towels. The AC works, but it loud and buzzes- bring earplugs. Shower pressure is not great and water temperature is hard to keep constant. Wifi is very poor in the rooms. It's better by the lobby but if you want to stream anything in your room, you need to pre-download it. Sound from the TV is so muffled and terrible that you can't watch it. However, the worst part for us was the food and service. Again, most people in reviews I read raved about the food which shocks me! There is almost no attempt at good, authentic Jamaican cuisine, apart from a few items in the dinner buffet on Thursday night. They try to make Italian and Asian food which is not done well. They should focus on their strengths and put more local/authentic Jamaican staples on the menus. This resort feels like it caters heavily to a large American crowd (there were tons of Americans here, much more than other places we have visited) and the hotel's food and drink offerings go along with that. At each restaurant more often than not we had an issue of an item being forgotten, never brought out, or loosing our order completely. Beach service is almost non-existant and we had to walk up to the bar to get our own drinks. Drinks are also heavily filled with overly sweet juices making them insanely sweet. Most of the staff seemed disinterested in being there. We definitly didn't get the typical, warm Carribean welcome that we were anticipating. The watersports staff weren't welcoming and wouldn't give us a Hobbie cat lesson even though they were just sitting around doing nothing. We wound up walking down the beach a ways and found a local beachside restaurant were we went twie and had amazing lobster (best food of our trip). All in all, for the price point for this, it was not worth it for us and we will not be returning, nor would we recommend this hotel chain to anyone else. I would encourage you to read and focus on the less positive reviews because it turns out they are sadly accurate.

"Home"

10.0

Our sixth visit and once again we weren’t disappointed. When we arrived, all the restaurants bar Cassava buffet were closed due to a staffing issue. However this only lasted 2 days. The wonderful GM Caroline Cousens spoke to us about how they were sorting things out. A masterclass in guest communication, very impressive. The hotel was much busier than previous years (98.% capacity). Many were visiting for the first time as the middle east war was preventing travel to places like the Maldives. Did not affect our enjoyment though. We were on the snorkelling boat for diving in the first week, but then a replacement dive boat (‘Bubbles’) was pressed back into action. Just as well, as the second week we saw long queues to sign up for the next days dive. Not seen there before, but managed to get on every dive. The scuba team were as usual fantastic. The rest of the staff were superb too. We really cannot fault anything. Some of the rooms are a little tired, but that’s Jamaica. The transfer to and from the airport took about 90 minutes which was quick. Highly recommended and we will hopefully be returning next year (if Couples stop increasing their prices!).

"All you could ever ask for is here at Couples Negril"

10.0

From the airport lounge to the resort itself, we were treated really well. The airport lounge offers a bathroom and bar while you wait for the bags to be tagged and loaded to the van. The resort-Super clean everywhere, spotless. Eco friendly resort. Staff are great, friendly & make everyone feel like it’s their home. We met so many people who were return guests. Up to 22 times even WOW. We now understand why and we’re already making plans to return. There’s even a returning guests dinner each Monday night. It was packed !! Hotel room- clean, comfy bed, one chair so maybe they could add one more but not really an issue. We never turned on the TV. Plenty of closet space and hangers; each room has an umbrella in case of rainy evenings. Lots of table space for things. Grounds- immaculate and every morning the staff are washing the pool deck and cleaning off the lounges. Dining rooms, bars- plenty of options for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Amazing assortment of foods and never the same thing each day. Staff- you just can’t beat them for the service. We randomly would see them come up and hug returning guests and make them feel so much like family. They work so hard for all the guests. Other amenities- we didn’t take part in activities this time- really needed to destress and rest the brain But each day there were so many activities you could join if you wanted. Water activities were included and we’ve decided that the next time we go, we’ll be taking better advantage of those included amenities Side note - fresh water is always available and English speaking staff- this may matter for some Jamaica has no water issues like the Dominican resorts we’ve stayed at so this was important for us. But there is always fresh ice and filtered water stations at each end of each building. Nice convenience.

"For the chilled vacationer"

10.0

My husband and I purchased a day pass to Couples for $220. The price included unlimited food and drinks, plus water sports. We loved it. The adults only environment works for us.We were especially appreciative of our sailing instructor who took us out on one of the property's catamaran for about 30 minutes, gave us a lesson and let us both steer the 'ship'. The resort is very upscale with multiple eating choices. There was an pool exercise session going on when we arrived. We spent most of our time sitting by the pool and dipping out toes in every now and then to cool off. If you are a kind of lazy vacationer like me. this place will please you. It was great fun. There were those running off to play tennis. We waved at them as we sipped our drinks. We'll be back.

"Couples Negril 2026"

10.0

My review of Couples Negril, Jamaica May 2026 Starting with the negatives: The drive to the resort is long, about 2 hours depending on time of day! I do believe you can pay for a small plane ride to eliminate this! 10 mins? 100$? Worth it so some..especially if you have a shorter week for vacation Shower/vents: the showers in the bedroom have windows that are vents which are made for natural ventilation..no electric bathroom fans.. however this allows mosquitoes to enter. Pack bug spray! Cup size: The cup size is very small on this resort..maybe 6-8 oz The drinks are strong so maybe this is why!? As a solution, pack your own yeti! Wifi: The resort has spotty wifi overall. The bathroom/bedroom was a bust for sure. On the plus side it is free.. Limited food options: This resort overall lacked some protein in the restaurants. Two of the dining choices are outside and two are inside dining. For the men, fine dining requires long pants and close toed shoes! Ladies…no dress code. The fine dining restaurant was worth the dress up!! NEED TO KNOW: a card is needed upon check in to pay for security deposit: 300$ In addition if you want to buy from the gift shop on property it is CASHLESS and will charge to your room, so pack a travel card of some sort! Variety of music: This resort did not mix up the choice of music very music. Playlist on a bit of replay..however the local entertainment that entered the resort area was amazing! Small bills: They say not to tip….please bring small bills to leave tips. These employees do not get paid very much and it means everything to them to leave anything versus nothing. If you use the catamaran the resort offers, tip! If you parasail using local vendor, every person involved is looking for a tip so 1$ bills are great! If you order room service all week, tip. PROS: Roshay Whyte: she is an amazing staff member on this resort! I want to give a HUGE shout of to her. Thank you so much for making this week extra special with all of your help and kindness. What a beautiful soul and I hope to see her again! In addition, thank you to Keshna (KT) behind the grill bar for helping out on my parents special day by delivering quick service! If your looking to give in other ways: Sweets/chocolates or maybe dental bags? Office of Nature: a SHORT walk to from the sand to a AMAZING local bar. We selected our own lobsters from property to grill up and it was DELICIOUS. Thank you KK (bartender) for making this an awesome experience and I will be back! The vibe, view, music, staff and food…JUST AWESOME! Swimming on property..open 24/7 unless closed for cleaning. This was great I thought. I did not have a bad meal during my vacation and I tried most of the drinks. The AC was no issue which was appreciated! The shower was lovely but the water def stripped my hair color so don’t spend money on that before you go. The resort was small but clean/peaceful.. and staff was very nice! I felt like I was treated like royalty. The left side resort area of Couples is currently closed and under construction due to hurricane but Couples Negril is very quiet with almost zero noise level. The resort offered a bunch of free activities which was very cool and DO NOT MISS the beach dinner/ fireshow. What an excellent way to end my week! Pack some slip shoes or flip flops as I walked mostly barefoot all week it did GET HOT! Sunscreen, hat, and SPF chapstick. Thank me later! If you want to leave the resort to bar hop I recommend OneLoveBus Tour and check out Red Dragon for the best local jerk pork. The beaches were amazing, I saw so much wildlife. Seaweed was not an issue as this resort is in a cove. To not skip out on a snorkel trip I saw things I never saw before. Jamaica I will be back!

"Ok"

6.0

Lovely setting, beautiful beach and gardens. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean, authentically Jamaican so lots of wood, fits in with the vibe really. Moans... TV is awful, main restaurant has a rediculous system of talking room numbers then walking you to your table.. Just one guy doing this so it takes forever. Breakfast is a fight with the birds that swoop in and sit on the food as soon as your back is turned. My main criticism is that this concept is a Couples resort.. But there are lots of groups of 6 or 8 friends that are partying together.
