"Trip #9 to Couples Negril, still special and magical"

10.0

Review of Couples Negril, Feb. 18-25, 2026 This is home. Something we felt even more strongly this year, as we did a split stay for the first time (7 nights at CSS before 7 nights at CN…) And while CSS was lovely, we felt immediately “at home” when we pulled up to the Couples Negril lobby to start our 8th visit (we’ve been coming to Couples Negril since 2005, and have already booked for fall 2026 and winter 2027!) Check in: We were warmly greeted with Jamaica smiles and given champagne to sip while we filled out our paperwork, which was all correct and in order. Then it was off to our awesome room, 7201, and then to the beach grille/Heliconia for my first of many snapper sandwiches and saw 3 couples we knew along the way. Welcome home indeed! Food: Overall, we loved the food…and both gained several pounds to show for it. 😉 We ate at the Beach Grille for lunch nearly every day and had several delicious dinners at Heliconia as well. Staff moved people along so there were minimal waiting times at dinner and were very attentive. We sadly missed Lychee this time (didn’t realize it was closed 2 nights during the week, we will plan better next year!) but had a very romantic special dinner at Otaheite. Cassava Terrace was delightful for breakfast--fresh pancakes and made-to-order omlettes. We also loved the live entertainment at breakfast which started our day out nicely. Private Dinner: This is the first time we have done this, we had it in the treehouse. Our server was so sweet, picked us up from our room with champagne and led us to the treehouse, which was beautifully appointed with candles, rose petals and other table decor. We were so pleased by her service---especially going up and down all of those stairs! It was an unforgettable way to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday! Rooms: Clean, no frills but well-stocked fridge and always clean towels. Loved turndown service. Always enjoy the towel art and special touches, these ladies are fantastic! Activities: We didn’t do much this year, sand gravity took over! The day we signed up for the Catamaran cruise, it stormed so it was cancelled and we didn’t have time to rebook. Oh well, next time. Romance Rewards: Couples really knows how to appreciate their returning guests. As the Passionate Love level, the perks we received made us feel special. Spa: We increased our couple’s massage from 25 minutes to an hour and we left feeling SO relaxed! Towels: There was always a ready supply of clean beach towels anytime during the day. Don't have to worry about key cards or shortages. Room Keys: LOVED that they brought back the bracelets. So convenient and much better than the key cards! Beach: We enjoyed spending time at the beach. Saw how much damage the hurricane did to the foliage, and appreciated the canopy that was put up during our stay. Still. More shade is needed. Maybe extra special (not tacky) umbrellas for us fair folk, while we all wait for the foliage to grow back. Bar was great, and lunch/snacks on the beach was a treat. Nightly Entertainment: We loved the nightly entertainment and beach & lawn parties. The Jamaican night with the fire-eaters was amazing, the Motown and Tina Turner performers were excellent, as well as of course our favorite, the Silver Birds! We were in Room 7201, so we could hear everything quite well from our balcony. We love it that Couples lends an authentic Jamaican flair to everything they do including the thoughtful entertainment. I don’t come to Jamaica to hear booming party music. 😉 Staff: Couples Negril staff is second to none and a big reason so many guests are repeaters. We felt so welcome and pampered, we can't wait to return in October! If you're on the fence about booking this property, just do it already. ;)

"Another great visit!"

10.0

My wife and I just spent a week at Couples Negril (our second visit) and once again I have nothing but great things to say about this resort. The first thing that strikes you is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Without exception, everyone we interacted with was terrific. I'd like to especially give a shout-out to Shellyann Lake who was extremely helpful in resolving an issue we had (btw, the issue had nothing to do with the resort itself). The beach is lovely, the food was great, the bartending staff attentive and responsive. All in all, a great resort, one that I recommend to all of my friends. P.S. We were there at the end of February / early March and didn't see any effects of the hurricane that struck Jamaica late last year.

"Best Beach Ever"

10.0

We returned for our 3rd time and had our usual fantastic experience. The secret sauce is definitely the staff who cannot do enough for guests. Food and service were excellent and the beach is one of the best in the Caribbean. Will be booking for next year..

"Buyer Beware ... think we dodged a bullet with this one"

6.0

I purchased a week at Couples Negril to celebrate my wife and I's 25th. Package was purchased in June 2025 while I was deployed to the middle east. At the time of purchase, I was unaware of the couple's policy to provide military discount. Upon calling to inquire, the representative said they would honor my service with a 10% discount; however, I would need to rebook and either forfeit our $200 travel insurance or, pay again. When I asked why they could not just honor the 10% discount at check in, they said that was not possible. Ultimately, we chose to eat the $200 non-refundable insurance and cancel the entire reservation. Only an organization that cares nothing about their clients would treat them in such a manner. Their loss, confident we dodged a bullet here. Buyer Beware!

"what a great place"

10.0

Love. Love. Love. Came her 23 years ago for our honeymoon and just returned for 12 days this past September. 23 years later...its even better. some of the staff are still there!!!! I love the rustic charm of this place. It is not sleek or new or fancy. It is just cozy and has an old school Jamaican feel. Its quiet and peaceful with a gorgeous beach amazing staff and good food. Its not cheap but it is worth the money if rustic and quiet is your thing, We frequent Sandals resorts and have visited various Sandals 25 times but we actually enjoyed this resort more than any of them. We have a 2 week upcoming Sandals booked this fall but will definitely be switching to Couples from now on when we travel to Jamaica. I wish they had more resorts on other islands!!

"Lovely spot, but please improve guest communication"

8.0

Lovely place, great food, clean, comfortable rooms, nice people. Au naturel beach was very safe and friendly. My main problem is COMMUNICATION. It was hard to find all the activities as lists were scattered around apps, blackboards, etc. Also there seemed to be some "secrets" that you had to know - they didn't tell us until the end that reservations for the nicest restaurant opened at midnight 2 days before, instead of what they told us originally of 8:30 am when guest services opened. No wonder we had a hard time getting a table. No one explained the "funny money" you won with activities. Scuba was great if you are very experienced and fit. We had some concerns about safety issues, and there wasn't a lot of help with our gear (we are in our 60s), but that improved after we talked to the Watersports manager. Also I wish they had more music starting earlier - most real stuff didn't start til 9-10 pm. Now that I know a lot of the hidden stuff, we'd go again.

This was our 2nd visit to Couples Negril. It was and is a wonderful experience that is so relaxing and peaceful. It is so much more laid back than other resorts which is why we enjoy it so much. Service again was excellent. We love Couples Negril so mech that we booked our next vacation while we were still there for next year. Can't wait!

"Exceeded all my expectations"

10.0

As a travel agent who has traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the very best hotels, I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived in Jamaica, everything has been absolutely exceptional. The staff are truly outstanding — warm, welcoming, and they simply cannot do enough for you. The level of service is beyond anything I’ve experienced, and that’s saying something given how many luxury properties I’ve visited over the years. The food is incredible, with so much choice and consistently high quality at every meal. The premium all-inclusive offering really sets this hotel apart — it includes so many thoughtful extras that make the whole experience feel elevated and genuinely one of a kind. Our room is spotless, beautifully maintained, and housekeeping are absolutely brilliant. Every detail is taken care of. I genuinely cannot fault this hotel in any way. It has exceeded every expectation and set a new benchmark for me. I will be recommending it to all of my clients without hesitation — a truly unforgettable stay.

"Laid back and relaxing"

10.0

Prior to any vacation, I do a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. It's part of the fun for me. Anyway, my wife and I (49&47) visited this resort 15 years ago. We had a great time during our first visit. We've never visited the same twice resort before this trip and based on a couple of the reviews, I was a bit worried. I should know better by now, but I'm sure I'll be worried next time as well :). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a very relaxing vacation. For us, the "speed" of the resort was just right. I utilized the tennis instructor daily at 8 a.m. (Thanks Maurice). The courts, racquets and balls where by far the best that I've seen in many years at a resort and they had twice daily instruction. There was plenty to do if you want to stay active (me). But it's also super laid back if you don't (wife). If you want to lay around on the beach all day and read, you can do that without being badgered to participate. The service, overall, was great. We had a small issue with a window in our room upon arrival. We contacted the front office, it was fixed in short order. Every once in a while (happened twice to me in a week) a worker may be curt or wasn't smiling to greet you. Guess what, I have bad days at work also. If I have to wait a couple of minutes to get a Absolute and Ting, so be it. You're on vacation in the Negril, take it easy. My wife and I are not foodies. She eats like a toddler and I'm not too adventurous. With that being said, the last few vacations that we've been on have been to Sandals resorts and their food is better. As is their liquor selection. But the food and liquor at this resort is good. The size of the resort was great for us. You can be back at your room from anywhere in less than a few minutes. I was a bit worried that it would be too small, but that was not the case. It was actually one of the things that we enjoyed the most. Contrary to other reviews, the chair game is definitely played, especially at the pool. I woke up early one morning for a sunrise beach walk and there were already chairs that had been claimed. We parked at the beach daily so it didn't bother us. There were plenty of chairs on the beach but there were still people who claimed "their" chairs early there as well. But you could always find one out of the sun if you liked and there were always plenty to be had. Honestly, the only real downside to visiting the resort is the drive to Negril from MoBay. Our bus driver was great, it's just a long drive after a long day of travel for us (no direct flights). There is a small runway right across the street from this resort. Honestly, I'd look into what the cost is for that 15 minute plane ride. It may be worth it. I asked a worker about different crowds during different times and she said it varies greatly. I had never thought of that but it made perfect sense and explained some of the disparity in the reviews. When we went, the average age was probably closer to 60. There were some couples in their 30's and early 40's but I'd guess we were on the younger side. If you go during the summer, I was told that the crowd will be younger. I can understand why some people come back to this resort every year. It just feels comfortable, like an old pair of jeans. But I can also understand that if someone didn't do their research and was wanting loud music and pool bubble parties how they would be disappointed. But if your goal is to relax and unplug, you'll be happy here. Will we return? Not next year, there are still other places that I would like to see. But if we were ever to have an annual excursion, this resort would have a good chance of being where we landed.
