"Comfortable Stay and Ideal Location"

10.0

Had a fabulous stay at the hotel and very centrally located. The check in was smooth and the staff had the room ready including two nice notes and snacks from the staff. Fernando, the Bell Captain was always greeted us when seeing us. The room/suite was spacious and bed comfortable. Feedback for the hotel to consider modifying in the future are having lights tied to different switches so all living room and bedroom lights do not need to be on. Secondly is the number of outlets available for charging devices. That stated, these are minor understanding this was previously a convent and an emphasis was not placed on luxuries.

"Sacred refugium, magical place!!"

10.0

A magical secret, unexpectedly beautiful refugium in the city Center of Granada, where time stands still. From the first step we made into the hotel, to the last good bye, we were treated with kindness, respect and warmth. The staff are incredibly competent and polite, and go out of their way to make this special for the guests. We also made use of the sauna and steam room after a day of sight seeing - it was the perfect choice. The bar and restaurant are top notch. Even though we travelled in the pre-Christmas time, the hotel never felt crowded. The atmosphere and the decorations were phenomenal, and it smelled amazing everywhere. We loved our dinner there, and highly recommend it. We appreciate everything you do, keep being wonderful. The room was impeccably stocked and sparkling clean!!

"Wonderful Stay at Historic Hotel in the City Center of Granada"

10.0

Fantastic hotel with a great location near The Alhambra Palace. As titanium elite members, we were upgraded to a suite which was a nice touch. The hotel was really able to save the historical aspects of the building. We also had brunch at the hotel which was phenomenal. There's a buffet and you're able to order anything from the menu. We had a rental car which we were able to park on a side street for free until 8 AM the next day but had to move it to the paid parking after 8 AM. Would definitely stay again

"Amazing location and building"

10.0

A great location and a magnificent building from the 14th C with fresco's and other facets of that era. We really enjoyed our room which was in the 14th C part of the building. It was large, well appointed and very comfortable. The bar and breakfast restaurant were excellent. The bar had excellent service. The hotel is very clean and the receptionists were quite helpful.

"a new hotel at a very historic building"

10.0

This hotel located on the Gran Via in the center of Granada is actually a converted convent. The conversion was done to an extremely high standard and the hotel is equipped with every modern convenience, yet the rooms are still furnished with authentic pieces giving the entire property a historic ambiance. There is a quiet central courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast or a drink in the evenings. On one of the evenings there was a local Flamenco group performing, and an acoustical guitarist was scheduled for the following weekend. The hotel and the rooms are so quiet you would never know you were in the middle of a busy city! As for the room itself, we managed to book the one room in the hotel with a private courtyard facing balcony and it was well worth the additional charge. The room is large with plenty of storage space, nice and bright and with opening windows. I corresponded with Carlos at the hotel in advance of our visit and he not only assisted us in selecting a room, but also assisted with getting tickets to the Alhambra. It turns out that you have to buy tickets months in advance as ticket brokers buy them all up and sell them for 5 times the face value resale and there are only so many slots per day (this did not used to be the case). His tip was to go online to the official Alhambra website at midnight (local time) as that's when extra tickets are released - this worked! Parking is valet only and 30 euro per night. Breakfast is only buffet, with hot items ordered and served at your table. Unfortunately, there is no room service or truly Ala cart menu and due to an early flight there was no early morning breakfast option for us. We did enjoy a meal of tapas courses from the restaurant served in the courtyard one evening and everything was very well prepared. This is a wonderful hotel in a great location and we will not hesitate to return here the next time we are in Granada.

"Stay Somewhere Else. Eat Anywhere Else."

2.0

The first impression was overall very good. Met at the front door by Miguel, he is fantastic. Great service and smile. The interior former convent courtyard is very charming, and we were fortunate to be staying in the old part of the hotel. Location to city sights is a plus. Now for the rest of the stay. Food: Subpar quality and service both breakfast and dinner. Dinner at El Claustro was awful, their specialty bread (additional cost) came frozen. Sent it back and it was reheated. Food seemed to be microwave meals at best. Avocado and tomato salad was just roughly chopped bits. Breakfast was of a similar nature. Very slow service at both. I appreciate a leisurely meal however this was beyond that. Room: Very thin walls. Could hear my neighbors talk, laugh, sneeze. The lights are such that if you want to turn one off, they all go off with the exception of the bathroom. The bathroom light is on or off. With a step up and a glass door you had to be very careful at night should you need to make a visit. It is pitch black in the room and if you turn on the lights you wake your partner. If you leave the lights on in the bathroom it makes for a poor night's sleep. Facility: There was an event on Saturday that took up the courtyard and additional function space all day and into the late night. All of the hotel staff were focused on this event making service slower than ever. Additionally, the noise level was absurd until midnight. Then there was the constant clanging of the clean-up team. We had recently come from another hotel where they had an event. We were told days in advance, offered alternatives for dining and apologies in advance. At the Hotel Palacio de Santa Paula there was no warning, no care or concern just a shrug when inquiring when the festivities may die down. Needless to say, we were ready to depart as soon as possible.... although there was a peloton and the road was blocked. This property was not worth the money spent at the restaurants or the points spent on the room. We will not return. Person with mobility issues be advised it is not accessibility friendly.

"Poor experience"

2.0

We checked into the hotel in Oct for a 3 night stay. Unfortunately we found the room to be less than what we expect of a 5 star Marriott hotel. Most significantly, my one year old Kobo sage E reader went missing from my room which I discovered upon packing for check out. I had placed it on the coffee table after reading and I recalled a tray of drinks placed on it after getting back one night. However, the e book reader cannot be found. As I’ve never brought it out of the room, there was no other explanation how it could have gone missing. We had emailed the manager who said he has tried to find it with no avail and with no other resolution. I used the hairdryer (which is wired to the wall and not a separate unit) the power to the room went out ! We had to call the front desk and wait for someone to come and fix it . The power went out a second time when we used the hair dryer and had to ask for a separate unit. We have never had this happen before at any hotel, let alone a 5 star establishment. Also when we arrived, the refrigerator was unplugged and we had to move a heavy cabinet to plug it in ourselves, thus hurting my hand. In addition, the bath tub was worn with many small visible cracks and should be replaced. In addition, when we gave feedback to the front desk, the only solution offered was to change to a similar room which we were not happy to do as we were exhausted from a long travel day. When we wanted to give our feedback to the manager, we were told that there will be no one around during the entire weekend which is why we are emailing you. We expect there to be a manager available to talk to about issues. We are marriott titanium members and this experience has marred our high regard for their hotels of this tier.

"Beautiful hotel, good location, but breakfast service can be improved"

10.0

I stayed here for 2-nights, it's a very charming boutique hotel that located in historical sites which are Santa Paula Monastery and the Casa Morisca, which existed in the XVI and XII centuries. My detailed reviews below: 1) Location: Great location, it's at the heart of Granada. Easy walk to the central town. In theory you could walk up to Alhambra for 30 minutes but I think it's more like a climb, definitely worth 10-minutes taxi ride up. Walking down from Alhambra when the sun down is more bearable. One annoying thing is if you bring your own car here, do NOT trust Google Maps. It's easy to get lost as most streets are one-way. There is no on-site parking, only valet which is a bit expensive. 2) Lobby/Reception: Lobby is small, beautiful, yet practical. I can definitely feel the charm of the place. Lobby has enough seating. Front desk department was very helpful explaining all the features in the hotel, answering all my inquiries, and the check-in process was smooth and pleasant. 3) Room: My room is located in a newly refurbished building that looks very modern from outside, however, from inside, it does has the "old" charm. The room is small but it's very nice, practical, and got a nice view of Alhambra in the distance. Room is facing the street but surprisingly it's quiet. The bed is super comfy. The bathrom is surprisingly has decent size, complete with tub and shower combination, and toilet with an actual door for privacy (which is a rarity these days!). Standard amenities like complimentary bottled water, coffee maker, tea, are pretty much expected. Anyway, room is pretty solid! 4) El Claustro Restaurant & Bar: The on-site restaurant is located in the courtyard area. There are indoor area as well outdoor area which is a beautiful courtyard. The bar area looks very interesting but they could've use a bit more lighting especially around the stairs which can be a bit dangerous for clumsy people like me. Breakfast is served a mix of ala carte for hot food and buffet for cold food. I like having a peaceful morning breakfast in the courtyard area. If you're in a rush, I think it's better just to have the buffet as the hot food can take awhile. I also feel the service can be improved especially on the consistency. The first morning I came, service was excellent, the associate was very attentive. However, the second morning, we decided to come early and service was downgraded: no one in the front, took awhile to be seated to the point I just pick my own table, also everything just slower. The weird thing was, the restaurant was still dead quiet and only a few table occupied. I tried the drinks from the bar in the afternoon, I think the drink price was pretty expensive for what it's worth. 5) Other aspects: I went around the hotel area and I'd say it's pretty charming. Passed through a gym, it's tiny but seems alright. Housekeeping team done a great job, I always find the room refreshed when I came back after exploring the town. Valet service also great. All the associates are very nice, friendly, and welcoming. Definitely one of the key highlights of this hotel. I do still hope they can improve their breakfast service. Overall, it was a great stay.
