"Lovely converted convent"

10.0

Family trip with my daughter (last spring break of graduate school). Stayed 2 nights at the AC in Granada. Centrally located near the University, in a flat part of Granada that is great to walk around in, located less than 15 min from Sacromonte district and the Alhambra. Hotel is in a converted convent, with a large central area. Some rooms are in the main hotel, others around the large central open air atrium with a fountain. Had tea/drinks in the afternoon there, very relaxing. Standard european room. Comfortable beds, double paned windows so no sound at all from outside at night. Lovely bathroom. Breakfast buffet is very good, strongly encourage this. The best thing about this hotel is location, location, location. Excellent restaurants and bars in every direction.

"Is not worth the money (overpriced)"

5.0

The rooms and space were clean.

For a hotel that claims to be 5 stars, this did not meet expectations. A "superior" room had basically two twin beds pushed together and little space. The wifi never worked, and the options for food on site were exceptionally minimal and overpriced. This hotel is extremely overpriced for the value delivered.

"Excellent Marriot Location"

10.0

This Marriot hotel is on the Gran Via de Colon - a great location in the historic section of Granada. We visited our son, who is studying at the University of Granada through IES, and the hotel was perfectly located between his resident hall and the IES classrooms. In addition to the great location, the staff was kind and helpful, the rooms quiet and breakfast was excellent. I believe the hotel used to be a monastery, so parts of the interior were dark. If there is perhaps one drawback, it was the lighting (or lack thereof). Our room, while very quiet, overlooked the Gran Via and was dark, even with the curtains open and all lights on. Otherwise, we did have evening drinks in the cloistered courtyard, which was lovely. There is a small gym, too. Just a little note - Granada tends to enjoy their siesta in the afternoon and after walking around, you will too. Again, stay here for the great location and quiet rooms - you can walk to both the Alhambra (a hike) and the Cathedral (maybe 5 minutes).

"My favorite hotel ever"

10.0

Enter from the street and you enter into another world. They have taken a 15th century convent and surrounding Moorish houses and masterfully renovated this into the nicest hotel I have ever stayed. From the frescoes in the lobby, to the magnificent bar, to the preserved cloister, and the romantic Moorish houses. We were given a choice between a modern room with view of the Alhambra or a room in the Moorish houses. We picked the small suite in the Moorish house and loved it. The overhanging gardens lent a site of orient. We had breakfast included and it was delightful — a full breakfast buffet and eggs to order. Did not have any other meals, but the hotel bar is not to be missed. Great wine and drink selection and you can take your drink on the cloister patio. But the best thing was the service. The general manager Lola saw us sitting in the cloister one evening and came over to make sure all was well. The bellmen like Sergio and Juanma were always helpful. I would come back to Granada just to stay at this hotel.

"Unfulfilled Potential"

6.0

The good - the hotel grounds, a former convent are beautiful, the bar in particular was a nice place for a before dinner cocktail elsewhere. The location is excellent, walkable to all this charming city has to offer. The bad - yes bad - upon check in my husband and I were assigned room 7 in the historic part of the hotel. Upon entering we noticed it was very cold, and there was a slight unpleasant odor. We called the front desk and they sent a bell hop to check the thermostat, perhaps thinking we were ignorant Americans not knowing how to operate a radiator. The bell hop confirmed the heat was not working - it was January with lows in the 40s F. During that time, we noticed the unpleasant odor was originating from the bathroom and getting stronger. The bell hop returned with a maintenance technician and got the heat working, but the room still smelled like urine…. $400 euros a night urine. We called the front desk and they relocated us to another room that was fine. A day later, our keys stopped working and we went to the front desk and they gave us new keys - no explanation, no sorry about that, just new keys. I want to like this hotel, I do, but something is not working - management, training, something.

"Nice hotel with comfortable beds and a wonderful breakfast"

10.0

A very nice hotel with comfortable beds and a wonderful breakfast. We took a bus from the airport to downtown Granada where it dropped you off just a block away. The reception extended a warm greeting and from there greeted you by name every time they saw you walk by. A wonderful hotel with an open air courtyard in the middle of the hotel. Our room was right off of the mezzanine level. So we could sit out on the balcony anywhere along the balcony level and enjoy a drink and/or a book or with company. The reception was very helpful when one of us had a fall while out and about. Like what seemed like every place in Granada, there are a lot of steps. We even had steps to get into our room. The decor makes you feel like you may be in Morocco, very tastefully done. If I were visiting Granada again, I would definitely stay there again.
