Castle at Makahuena at Poipu

We booked last minute for an extended stay in Kauai. The condo was very comfortable with plenty room for everyone. the only drawback was the Lani was under repair and we were not allowed to use. I would also add a floor fan for the master bedroom. the management company was amazing with help checking in and out will definitely stay again.

Property is updated and need remodeling. There was issues with the toilet and dryer was not working properly. The place does not look like the pictures on the website.

Terrible!! My husband is a disabled vet. NO where did it say it was not ADA approved ! Smelled bad, no beach chairs, not even salt and pepper in the house. Forget cooking unless you want to buy everything down to spices. What use is the kitchen. No window covering on a few windows and they were at park I g lot level where anyone could see inside. The showers were horrible, dirty. The cabinets where literally falling apart. The liane was not usable. And they didn’t say a thing until the final payment was due. What use is an “ocean view” if you can’t sit out on the liane and enjoy it. Just looking out a window. DO NOT waste your money. The unit next door was under construction. The entire day was saws and hammers all day long. It was insulting to even think they wanted an outrageous amount of money for this unit. Disgusting

Funky door lock. Does not operate like most. Had to get help to open door the first time. Overall okay, but interior needs additional lighting - you must open all blinds and curtains to have enough lighting inside.

This unit doesn't have air conditioner but close to ocean.

Rusty areas found especially around windows making them stiff to open and close. Window ledge in kitchen and floors throughout were dirty. There are no frills or extras with the rental, kitchen barely had enough cookware, no salt or pepper, no laundry soap provided. We had to close all sliders every time we left because we were located on the ground floor. It was hot, no a/c. Ocean view was partial view with the surrounding buildings blocking the main view. Nice open area inside with ceilings fans.

Easy check in and check out. Lovely location with sunrise and sunset seen from outdoor patios, as well as whale activity! Quiet, with nice pool and hot tub. Interior was fine except beds were hard and not very comfortable. Minor issues were the fan wasn't working in one of the bathrooms, and door latch was secure but needed repair; it was difficult to use.

The unit we were -twenty two zero four-in was very shabby and in need of upgrades. There is peeling paint on the window sill, the bathroom mirrors are rusting, the window slats in the master are rusted open, the laminate on many surfaces is peeling off. Little things like wrong info for wi fi were also bothersome. On the good side, the bed was comfortable and there was a nice, if obstructed, view.

A couple of things to keep in mind with this property 1. Check in is not easy. Castle resorts (who manages the property) had to call me and confirm my stay a week before we went, then called me again after we came to confirm check in and charge me additional fees. NOTE- they will charge you a destination fee and a cleaning fee (cost is about $220) in addition to the booking fee. They collected this after we checked in. 2. This hotel has no AC. We needed to buy a fan and open windows to cool the place down in February. 3. It had a lot of cosmetic issues. Our bathtub floor was black and was clogged. Every shower had me standing in several inches of water. 4. The bed was rock hard. Not comfortable at all. 5. They only had about a 24 inch tv (probably. $50 TV) It was unusable. Our iPad was actually easier to see and had better sound. 6. Overall just felt dirty inside (peeling paint, dirty window screens). Will not stay here again.
