Castle at Makahuena at Poipu

Property was in a beautiful location. Unit 2306 was a good size and had an incredible view. With a few upgrades this place really could be great but it appears the managers are more worried about quick fixes than good fixes. The bathrooms are not upgrade except for the paint. Both showers had mismatched tile with cracked and or falling apart grout. The flooring was second rate. If those got upgraded this place could command much more money given the location. The owners should fire the management company. Cheap fixes such as mudding holes in the wall but not painting over the mud is just shoddy and makes you feel like they don't care what it looks like they just want a quick fix. Ian was particularly frustrating. He blamed us for the issues we had. He forgot to notate we needed a crib and blamed us for not having it in the unit when we arrived. Then they refused to bring one until the next day because we arrived late. They blamed us for the any issue in the kitchen saying we left baby formula on the counter which we did not because we didn't have any formula. We asked for assistance moving the glass coffee table because the baby kept falling near it. We were told it would take another 2 days to get maintenance to get there. After that call the baby fell and hit her head on the table. Fortunately I had covered it with a comforter. We then moved the table ourselves. For budget conscious travelers that don't need assistance, this place is worth considering.

View was nice. Condo was dirty. Kitchen had grease splattered all over. We had to clean the slider to see out if it and coukd barely open it. The condo 4303 was in terrrible condition shower door almost fell off. Top floor shades broken strings could not open or shut. Floors filthy we swept them

We couldn’t have chosen a better location such Makahuena Resort; Unit 2306 had the best ocean view with all its amenities. It had everything that we wanted and is exactly as described! I highly recommend this place! Makahuena is my home 😊

liked view. we were missing keys but got quick help by cleaning lady. you need to call the management to check in but it was easy. many babies and small children in pool.

Check in not as advertised on site. You can register 1/8 mile away or check in with instructions that arrive by email, from 'Service Account.' Since I was not expecting an email I did not know how to get in, nor did I know where to check in. Luckily after an hour, someone that lived in the condos somehow knew the address of the check in place. Customer service was terrible. Condo was run down with a water leak from the fridge, as well as very dirty. Since customer service was terrible I just cleaned up myself, which is a bummer because I paid a $165 cleaning fee.

Great location - close to everything! Unit could use some updates and air conditioning but was very spacious and well equipped. Nice pool. Also had wonderful ocean and mountain views! We would stay there again.

Great location on Poipu Point and just over a 10 minute walk to Poipu Beach Park on one side and Shipwreck Beach on the other. The two bed apartment (queen and two singles) had all the facilities that you need such as washer/dryer, two bathrooms, full kitchen (toaster, oven, kettle etc), tennis racquets, balls, snorkel gear, etc. The apartment overlooked the pool but it was not too noisy as there are curfews and we were not in a busy season. I believe the apartments are all different because I think they are privately owned. Next door we believe were permanent residents. Great fluffy towels and smooth book in where you are sent the code but then walk/phone to nearby resort to ‘check in’. Wonderful pool, comfortable bed and wifi. Some small updates could be made such as better lounge (single bed) and cane chairs where you felt the supports when you sat on them. Also block out curtains and a screen door that locks on the front door to allow a cross breeze as there is no air conditioning but a beautiful breeze. Also some stain and polish on kitchen and bathroom fixtures.

The staff were VERY professional. The property, however, was very dirty, much of the unit was in poor cosmetic condition and since there is no A/C the upstairs bedrooms are unbearably hot. There was an OK view of the ocean, over the pool and another building. What view it had was ruined by the screens that had dust caked on in layers. They apparently do not perform a seasonal deep clean of any kind. We decided not to stay due to these issues and the staff were EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL and gave us a full and immediate refund. I hope that the cleanliness issues can be resolved, but I still don’t think we would ever stay here since it is so hot and they don’t seem to keep up on cosmetic repairs.

Our unit overlooked the pool but could see the ocean, too. It was a little dated but very comfortable. I think this unit might be too hot in the summer as it didnt have AC. But cracking the front door and opening the windows created a lot of cross ventilation and was very comfortable. The location was great, pool and Jacuzzi, too. I would stay here again.
