"Great place for family vacation!"

Clean rooms, ice and water stations conveniently located, great pools and hot tubs, access to JW Marriott Desert Ridge / Aquaridge, shopping nearby, outdoor games and events, pool bar & grill, weight room, so many things to love!

I really can’t think of anything, such a great place.

"Beware of noise!"

I stayed at The Canyon Villas Resort, Phoenix, AZ for seven nights around New Year’s with Platinum Elite Marriott Bonvoy status and a Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card. The primary issue was persistent, disruptive noise from the unit above us, which continued well past 11 PM each night. Despite reporting the problem to on-site staff (including the on-site manager) and contacting Marriott Bonvoy support, the hotel offered only 5,000–10,000 total Bonvoy points as “compensation.” This did not reflect the disruption to our family vacation, nor did it reliably address the root cause. (Basis: This hotel charges 99,000 points per night) In the first three nights, the noise was repeatedly loud enough to wake us and prevent sleep. Management attempted to send security a few times, but the issue persisted. A proposed relocation on the third night would have required packing up four rooms within 40 minutes. This was impractical for a family with young children and groceries. We ultimately stayed put, and the noise continued into the following nights due to insulation and acoustics, not just neighboring guests (guests above us left and new ones arrived) The property is pleasant, but the noise problem and overall sound travel at all hours were not worth the money or effort. In addition, the meager compensation, 1/10th of 1 night's stay, left us dissatisfied. If you’re considering a stay, be aware of potential noise and ask about quiet-hours enforcement and room locations. I do not plan to return to this property or to Marriott in the near future.

Unable to use resort credit Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Inaccurate Information Provided by Representatives and Abrupt Change in Resort Credit Policy at Marriott's Canyon Villas (Reservation # [Your Reservation Number]) Dear Owner Services Management Team, We are writing to formally express our profound disappointment and frustration regarding a recent experience at Marriott’s Canyon Villas in Phoenix, Arizona, from November 18–20, 2025, and November 23–24, 2025. We are long-standing owners with the Marriott Vacation Club and expect a high level of service and reliable information from your representatives. Unfortunately, the service we received led to the disruption and cancellation of our anticipated vacation. Timeline of Events and Misinformation: Early September 2025: A representative informed us we had expiring points and confirmed we could use Club Points for resort credits covering spa treatments, golf, and dining at Marriott’s Canyon Villas. September 17, 2025: We booked two separate villa reservations specifically based on the confirmation that these amenities were redeemable via Club Points. October 2025 (Date approximate): We called MVC Owner Services again to book specific activities (spa, golf, dining). The representative reconfirmed all activities were eligible for resort credits at the value of 325 points for $110 USD. We were advised to finalize the point transfer with the on-site concierge upon arrival. November 18, 2025: Upon check-in at Marriott’s Canyon Villas, the concierge abruptly informed us that a "new policy change effective November 1st" meant resort credits could no longer be used for spa, golf, or restaurant charges. The Impact of This Failure in Communication: We flew from Chicago to Phoenix specifically for this vacation, having made extensive plans based entirely on the information provided repeatedly by your Owner Services team. The resort amenities were the primary reason for choosing this location. Discovering upon check-in that these services were suddenly unavailable via the agreed-upon payment method was unacceptable. The situation was exacerbated when a supervisor suggested we should have checked the Marriott Vacation Club website for updates, a website that is notoriously difficult to navigate, slow, and poorly laid out (a widely held sentiment among owners). It is the responsibility of MVC to communicate significant policy changes clearly to owners, especially when actively providing owners with information over the phone. Desired Resolution: We request the following actions to address this service failure: Reimbursement of All Points: Please return all Club Points used for both reservations (Nov 18–20 and Nov 23–24) to our account immediately, given we were forced to cancel our stay due to this misinformation. Formal Apology: We require a formal acknowledgment and apology for the misinformation provided by your staff and the failure to communicate a critical policy change, which resulted in significant inconvenience, wasted travel expenses, and a ruined vacation. Compensation for Travel Disruption: We incurred travel costs (flights from Chicago) and significant stress based on the reliability of the information provided by MVC staff. We request a goodwill gesture in recognition of the substantial disruption to our plans. We trust that Marriott Vacation Club values its members and will take this matter seriously. "Excellent stay"

Excellent stay, excellent location, beautiful villas. The villas are renovated and fully stocked. The balconies are beautiful, and we had the view of the mountains with sunrise and sunset. We used the JW Marriott Aqua Ridge waterpark and loved it. Though it is a short walk, we parked the car for $27 just because we were sure the kids would be tired after playing in the park to walk all the way back. However, it is not necessary because it is quite a walkable distance. We love to visit it again.

"Canyon Villas Timeshare"

Nice employees, apparently the GM is well liked and effective. Albiet, the timeshares units are relatively young, they are well taken care of. Usual issues of non sealing doors to balcony, light bulb out, slow draining sink. Big current issue, October, MOSQUITOS! Don't hang near the shade, don't hang out side of the water before 10 AM, or anytime after 4:30 like near the BBQ areas. You will be eaten alive.

"Look around"

Tiny room. Had better at the Best Western. You can use the pool at nearby Desert Ridge Resort but the wristband they give you does not get you thru the gate unless you follow someone through. Check in is at 4pm and if you want early check in they don't take your request until you physically walk in to ask at the front desk.
