"Petty overcharging, old property, didn’t even bother to have my bill corrected."

1.0

Location? Maybe?

No towels in bathroom. Requested towels and property charged me for bath towels. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Older massive monstrosity of a resort property, not appealing at all. Very unwelcoming.

"Great stay, with one exception"

8.0

My wife and I checked into Canyon Villas for a week after needing a long rest after a very difficult year. Selecting this property was a no-brainer for us as we both love the Scottsdale area and its proximity to the JW resort next door. Checking in was super easy and Charles did a great job getting us squared away. Morgan at customer service was pleasant enough and did a good job at explaining the way of the land at the property, but was a wee bit too pushy when trying to convince us to participate in a sales presentation (which means she's doing her job). The property as a whole is quite nice and well appointed, if not small compared to other MCVI properties that we have stayed at over the decades. The villa itself was in great condition, furnished tastefully and reminded me of the property in St Thomas due to a strikingly similar floor plan, right down to the bedroom and bathroom arrangement (same drawings?). The grounds are neatly manicured and feature a lot of native flora and fauna, and is situated right next to a golf course. The public areas (ie, pool, hot tub, gym) are functional and in excellent shape. The JW resort is a very short walk away and provides charging privileges. Additionally, Canyon guests can use the pool and lazy river during weekdays, just remember to get wristbands and a gate card at the front desk. The quickest way to get there on foot is to NOT turn right at the traffic circle, but to cross the circle straight ahead and walk diagonally through the parking lot to the main entrance. All told this should take 7-8 minutes. There is no shuttle between the properties and parking at the JW is by the hour. The property is very close to the Desert Ridge Marketplace shopping area, containing many good restaurants and retail stores, in addition to a large Albertson's supermarket. My only beef with the stay was the room we were assigned. I have been to dozens of MCVI properties over the past three decades, and assigned everything from ocean front to mountain views, and I can say hands down that this was the worst assignment I can remember. Mind you that my wife and I are Executive level, I possess lifetime Titanium status (my Bonvoy account currently shows 2,006 Marriott hotel nights) and am a Marriott shareholder. Prior to checking in I thought we would (perhaps) get a golf course view, or maybe a desert vista, or even overlook the pool area all the while sipping Margarita's on the balcony. Imagine my disappointment when we were assigned a room in building 2900 overlooking the roadway leading to the parking lot, across from the reception area. Each morning trucks would make deliveries while idling, as cars and sometimes noisy motorcycles drove on by, not to mention the lack of privacy when people walked past. Not my idea of R&R, but that's life. Aside from that, we still had a marvelous time and can't wait to return.

"Well-done? Yes. Good Value? Read on"

6.0

We've been regulars for over a decade. It's absolutely a great place where you can have a fantastic experience. Wonderful staff, great property. But.... Since Covid, there has been a steady degradation in service and increase in prices, and I think we're done here. It started when they stopped the shuttle between the villas and the JW - a nice, infrequent, but lovely amenity that meant that you didn't have to trudge uphill to the resort in 95 degree heat. It continued when they stopped providing regular housekeeping, and in fact started CHARGING for any requested housekeeping. The sheet of shops and restaurants where renters enjoy 10% off or other deals has shrunk from 3 pages to less than one... including losing restaurants at the Marriott itself and the Desert Ridge marketplace. This year ended it for us. For no apparent reason (other than padding profits), they added at $25/day parking charge to park in a motel-style lot that has never been remotely short of spots. This in addition to $600+ per night rates... we're done. It's been fun Canyon Villas. We'll explore what else the desert has to offer.

"Unprofessional concierge Morgan"

8.0

Just returned from a 7 day vacation. The resort and pools were nice. I enjoy the stay very much. The Front desk Manager and Olivia were very professional and helped me with the room change. The only complain that I have is the concierge Morgan. She was very unprofessional, unhelpful, sarcastic and had some attitude. She didn't even try to help me when I had some questions. She told me the best way to look for the information is to Google it. The second time I came for help and ask for a map, she told me that she already gave me a map. I think she is completely unfit for the job! I was very dissapointed in that kind of behavior from the Marriott employee!

"We have owned units at Canyon villas for 24 years. Today was very disappointing.we asked earlier for 2400 building."

2.0

We had earlier requested 2800 building on a high floowith a pool view. We have owned 2 units at Canyon Villa for 24 years. We were given a unit at the end of 2700 overlooking sand traps. It was more or less take it or leave it. The room was one freebie that we had years back for attending the sales pitch. We could not not believe the service. Used to recommend this place to people but no more. The manager, who was the rude one, came out and presented worse options for the next day. Finally frustrated, we left the desk and will be moved to lower floor In the same building. We come here twice a year and have been treated really well by Dominic. I could say more but the disappointment ruined our week’s vacation.

"Great Resort!"

10.0

This was our first visit here and we were impressed. The resort is small, but beautiful and the activities are super-well coordinated. Love the daily specials at the grill and we ate there every night. At the grill Vanessa was always there to take our order and make certain everything was perfect. We will be coming back!

Unable to secure reasonable priced room at the hotel during a larger conference, so I opted for the villas as a nearby option. While nearby it still required 10-15 mins for the walk over. Room was efficient with fridge, sink and offered a balcony over looking the pool area. Consider using sliding door vs swing out door at bathroom to make the room easier to manage.

Honestly one of the most dated properties I’ve ever stayed at. This is actually a motel that felt more like a prison than a resort. Never again!
