The $300 pre-authorized incidental deposit is outrageous, and not listed anywhere as something you will need to provide upon check in. Upon check out, staff checks the room to ensure you may receive your deposit back (this in itself is weird, as I have NEVER had another hotel do this- let alone a divey run down hotel such as a Ho Jo). The night manager HARRY kept my deposit after accusing me of denting the wall when it was clear to anyone with any common sense and logical thinking skills that the damage there was pre-existing. My five year old son and I were only there for three hours to nap prior to driving back to Winnipeg and Harry scammed us. He was also very rude and did not listen to what we had to say. Staff are of the same quality as their property- POOR AND TERRIBLE! Would not recommend!!!!!!!!

The Hotel needed a restaurant that was also open for the evening meal because the only restaurant nearby was not really satisfactory. A person really does not want to get in the car and start to hunt for a restaurant after they have been busy all day. The restaurant that is there should be kept open for all meals and attract more return customers. A condition of operating that restaurant should be that it provide all meals.

The surrounding area and the outside of the building are very aged and in need of a face lift. We were even wary about going into the building BUT what a nice surprise , it was clean and the staff ever so nice and accommodating. The room was comfortable and we were very happy with it. The lounge needs a lot of work, the breakfast was great, eggs anyway you want them made , bacon or sausages, hashbrowns , toast and coffee/juice. It was in close driving distance to everything we wanted to see. We would stay here again!

The hotel was about what was expected for the price. It was not very clean though. My big problem was that I had a hooded sweatshirt stolen from my luggage while I was working. There are two hooded sweatshirts that I wear when I work, a black and red one. When I came back after the third night, I noticed the black one was missing from my suitcase. When I checked out the next morning, I informed the front desk clerk. She went to the room and looked and could not find it. I told her it was inside my suitcase which was left in the room. She took a picture of the red one and promised to call and let me know what she learned. She acknowledged that it could have been the housecleaning worker who took it, since nothing else was missing.or disturbed.

Great price, beds were a little wonky but still comfortable, deposit on the room was a little steep but its just a deposit, water pressure in the shower was brutal haha... quick quality free hot breakfast, beautiful soul checked me in, I'd come back just for that smile

A nice hotel with very pleasant staff. Very easy to access with comfortable beds. Could use a bit of a boost with the wi-fi.

We are from out of town and discovered that that this particular Howard Johnson hotel is in the most sketchy area. The street was very dark and what appeared to be, homeless people in the parking lot and on the two side streets beside the hotel. Other than 1 other group checking in, there were no customer to be seen. It was also my impression this location is frequently used by the homeless when they have enough money to get a place to stay for the night. As two women travelling alone at night, we did not feel safe here AT ALL. The front staff were polite but clearing it was not the first time they had heard this concern and would not give us our money back. We cut our losses and went 5 minutes west to a well-lit area. The new hotel was only $20 more than this Howard Johnson and lots of families with kids. Much safer!!
