The Royal Beach Hotel

Fantastic position for the area and considering it’s age they have maintained it very well indeed. Great hotel with a nice charm about it and a very interesting history. Worth every penny and we love it We have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one definitely deserves some revisits for sure:)

I had a very unpleasant sleep at Royal Beach and in the morning I found out why - BED BUGS. According to the General Manager they are prevalent in all Hotels but this is the first time I have come across them in the UK. The GM Chris Gilmore promised me a refund but some 3 weeks later I have not received it. Wont be staying at The Royal Beach again

Room looked onto a building site - work started at 8am sharp every morning with a huge amount of noise. One morning movement on the building site started at 6.40am. My windowsill was flaky and filthy. The net curtains were definitely in need of a wash. The loo seat was loose and sliding around when you sat on it (quickly changed well done) One day a sheet of paper was left by housekeeping saying please stay in your room tonight from 10.45pm to 5am for cleaning of the carpets! The one lift was very slow because the builders on floors 2 and 1 kept using it. What a mess you could see when the lift doors opened on floor 1 in error.

We will be back, very enjoyable.

Enormous room overlooking the beach and pier. With a bit of redecoration the room would be excellent. Even so, the room is fine as it is with a king size bed, settee and table with two chairs. Recommended.

Although staff were friendly and helpful and generally the hotel was clean the room we booked wasn’t the room we got. We were put in a back small double tired bedroom with a small window facing another wall complete with scaffolding, the room we booked should have be sea view with Queen bed.They weren’t able to change for us as they were full. They did knock off drinks charge however as our room couldn’t be changed. I’m not sure whether the problem was with Hotels.com who we booked with or the hotel itself.

Great for location, looks and historical interest. They have a small parking area which we managed to get parked daily but it was stressful not knowing if you were going to get a space. Food superb, service great. Bar manager, Sandy was very helpful and chatty.

Naturally the hotel is due a makeover from its age, however the rooms are more than for for purpose and the hotel is very clean. The service and the staff are 100%, nothing was too much trouble and they certainly were top of the score board.
