The Royal Beach Hotel

Lovely staff. Great location. Lovely breakfast. My favourite place to stay in Southsea.

An excellent stay at a hotel that is currently under going a series of rennovations. The hotel needs some updating but the overall service and stay were still excellent. Room (a single) was small but functional. Breakfast was excellent.

The location of the hotel was ideal and the surrounding views were lovely. The hotel was clean but tired looking. The fire alarm went off in our room at 8.40am on Friday morning, wasn’t happy about this. A fault with their system but only in our room. Building works going on outside that wasn’t nice either.

Good clean and excellent value for money. Great breakfast. In a great location.

We sure treated on arrival by the lovely bar man Steve who help Advise on parking and booking in. Spent the night in the bar, food was good and Steve was great with serving us. Well done Steve made our evening 😀

The room was clean and a decent 3* standard, although the Victorian plumbing is showing its age a bit. COVID-19 measures meant that room cleaning is only between stays, with replenishments for coffee etc on request. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My one real criticism was the bar - prices are similar to those in an upscale bar in the town centre, but the drinks quality and atmosphere don't match. A vodka and orange was very small and used orange juice out of a carton. This is fine when you're charging a low price, but with a beer the round for two came to almost £10 - comparable to smart independent bars in the area with far nicer decor / atmosphere / music etc. This sort of hotel bar should either be cheap or high quality - but this one is neither and it feels like poor value - we drank elsewhere on other nights. The location is excellent and within short walking distance of the sea. A good bus service takes you into Southsea, which has some great restaurants. Portsmouth centre and the Isle of Wight are also easily accessible.

Great location, great value. The staff were excellent, very polite, very welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Lovely pint of Tetleys in the bar. A very historic building, showing the signs of age, but a thoroughly comfortable stay nevertheless. Enormous, luxurious bed so slept very well

I didn’t use any of the facilities due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The hotel staff were so helpful and welcoming! I enjoyed my stay from the start, the parking was convenient and the hotel was easy to find. There were lots of safety measures in place and everything was very clean. For such a good price, I was surprised that my room was so big and luxurious!

Dog friendly which is vital for us and our 2 doggos All staff were very friendly and we had lovely meal on Saturday evening in the bar the man on duty there was on his own and did a remarkable job as it was busy He was from Yorkshire but I didn’t get a name He deserves special mention The room was spacious Bit of a pain to go up and down lift with the dogs but that’s being picky Great views Would definitely recommend
