Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Montrose - Black Canyon Area

Only had smoking rooms. Shower didn't work. Staff was rude and unhelpful. Room was expensive and definitely didn't get what I paid for.

Some monkey reviews from past customers, but the room was freshly painted, clean and easily washable bedspread. We expected worse from the ratings so we were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was a joke so we ate elsewhere.

Kids cereal and milk isn't really a breakfast. A liner in the ice bucket. Clean up the grounds and repair the broken bricks. People have been complaining for three months.

The lock hardly worked, had to try 5 times. No extra toilet paper. Leak on the bathroom floor from toilet.

No shampoo. No coffee maker in room. Bring your own water bottles as there's no cup in the room if you need to take meds. Bed is way too mushy-soft (needs replaced) Pillows are lumpy (cheap chopped foam). Thin blanket. Just the bare bones for the money.

There are few things this property needs attention. 1. Room 117 need new keyless lock that in one touch that can open door. 2. Fan was not working. 3. Bathroom door was not closing. Area has no water drainage in property.

Room was quiet, freshly painted, comfortable, and clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating, towels and sheets freshly laundered. I was very nervous after reading other reviews, but apparently there used to be a homeless encampment nearby - which is no longer the case. I will say the breakfast was lacking - two varieties of kid’s cereal and some milk, but breakfast is an inexpensive meal. All in all, I was VERY relieved and comfortable, as was the rest of my party.

I would not stay here again. First, the card entry system is screwed up and I had to have the night manager let me in my room both nights. Second, the shutoff valve to the toilet was turned off, so no water until I figured out to turn on the water valve. Third, they take a photo copy of your driver's license. When I asked for the copy back at checkout, the manager couldn't find it. Made me nervous for identity theft. The manager said they take a copy in case they have to call the police. What the...? Fourth, this is an older motel and the walls are very thin. You can hear the street noise from Highway 50. Fifth, the breakfast was not much more than a cup of coffee. Sixth, the AC was so loud that I turned it off to be able to sleep. My best recommendation is to tear the whole place down and start over.
