The Franklin on Rittenhouse, A Boutique Hotel

I reserved at this hotel because my daughter was showing at a nearby fine art show and I was recently post-op and needed a home base with certain qualities (bathtub, no stairs) as well as early check in and late check out. The folks here found me the perfect room (Maude) - spacious, clean, and beautiful. There is parking across the street, plentiful fantastic food options nearby, and true comfort in the room.

While "The Franklin" is located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. It is located off the busy, noisy streets of downtown (yet just a block away from all the action). This hotel is not as large as some of it's competitors, it stands alone in it's uniqueness. Each room tells its own story, no two rooms are alike. What I loved most was the way they tried to stay true to the original architecture of the building (beautiful crown molding). Staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and went above and beyond to help with our needs. Special thanks to Doug and Paige from guess services. Another best keep secret about this place, it has a secret bar that was established back when prohibition existed. I am familiar with this area and I will definitely be returning to hear what the next rooms story speaks to me.

This boutique hotel has LOCATION going for it - walking, bus transportation, rail transport from suburban station, etc. We found the rooms small, the complimentary breakfast "average", but the staff were very competent and professional.

Just stayed at this wonderful boutique hotel- It was lovely! Each room is uniquely decorated and quiet, clean and well- appointed. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. The best part is the warm hospitality of the staff. It’s my go- to place to stay in Philadelphia!

Below average and most of these positive reviews are from people with only one or two reviews. It is a three star hotel at best. There was nowhere in our room to put our clothes… No dresser, a tiny closet with six hangers. Stains on the rug stains and the sofa. The bathroom looked like they hired me to renovate it, and I ran out of matching tiles. Very loud room at night. Person working the front desk couldn’t have been more uninterested. The breakfast was way below average. Granted, our typical stays are more of the Four Seasons variety, but we wanted to stay in Rittenhouse Square and these reviews were very good. It was terribly disappointing.

We love staying here. We've been in two different rooms, and both were nice, fun and clean. The staff are friendly, helpful and decent folk. The location is killer! The Square is steps away of course, but also Bottega Rittenhouse, Parc, Via Locusta, Black Sheep.
