"Perfect Hotel in Every Sense"

10.0

We arrived early and as we anticipated the room wasn't ready. We were semi checked in, give wrist bands and tokens for towels so we could use the pool area if we wanted. We went up to the sunset bar and enjoyed a few drinks before finally completing check in. The receptionist Octavious was great, he explained everything in detail and after checking the room was ready gave us our keycards. The room was to the rear of the hotel overlooking what was probably once a nice shopping mall - it is now almost deserted and looks an eyesore. It didn't bother us in the least; the room was clean, tidy and a complimentary bottle of wine and water was waiting for us. On the whole it was quiet with the exception of a couple of nights when for some unknown reason loud music began at 3:00 am. The air-con worked OK but it was a little loud for us so we dispensed with it on a few occasions. Maid service was excellent, the room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. Food was delicious, well presented and always to a theme, i.e Mexican, Chinese, Italian etc. There is a barbecue night a couple of times a week and the steaks were perfect. There was entertainment on in the down stairs bar each night but it wasn't for us though some of the older guests appeared to enjoy it. The sunset bar on the roof top is lovely at night, however, it is waitress/waiter service and there are only a couple of them on at any time. It seemed to take for ages to attract the attention of the waiters and be served a drink. The sunset bar in the day is a traditional walk up bar, it is lovely, the guy behind the counter was extremely professional and polite. On our first visit, 'The Eagles' was playing on the sound system. Being of a certain age I was hoping that this would be a good indication of what we could expect through the rest of our holiday; it was. The sound system played 'The Eagles' all week long. I kid you not, it went on and on and on. Towards the end of our holiday we couldn't stand it. I'm guessing this may be a ploy to stop you getting too comfortable. There are Jacuzzi to the left and right of the bar which are clean and tidy - no parasols on the roof for obvious reasons but you can get shade in the bar area if you wish. The Jacuzzi to the left of the bar are screened off as its for nudists. Yes, the present Mrs Jovis and myself tried it; it was good. There is a third bar by the pool downstairs, again a traditional walk up bar. It was very busy at times. The pool area was clean and well kept. There are the usual towels on the sunbeds at dawn and folks took two parasols when there were clearly not enough to go round. Ours was 'stolen' when we left the pool for a short time to eat. There was a maintenance guy doing odd jobs around the place, we asked if there were any more parasols and within a few minutes he had brought to us a brand new one. Its often over said that 'not all heroes wear capes' but on that day he really was one. There is also a complimentary wellness spa which has to be pre-booked. And a masseur on the roof top. The spa is good, you get an hour which goes very quickly. It has steam room, sauna and a pool with water features. All in all we had a great holiday and if there weren't a million other places to visit we would be back. Many thanks to all the staff at HL Suite Hotel Playa del Ingles, our stay with you was enjoyable and memorable.

"Excellent, chilled out hotel"

10.0

Amazing hotel, the atmosphere created by the staff is incredible. Chilled out and relaxing. The rooftop bar and hot tubs being the highlight for me, usually much quieter than the pools. All inclusive drinks amazing and never a queue for food or drink at the bars. Abit chaotic at breakfast and dinner, seems like people just can't see you most of the time... Location absolutely perfect for playa del ingles, 5 min walk to the main strip, just expect a steep walk back to the hotel. The only down would be the lack of activities during the day, not the entertainment teams fault, she just didn't have much to work with in creating fun and entertaining games. Service is all top class, we had a 8pm flight back and stayed all inclusive until we left at 5pm and used all the facilities apart from our room until the very end. Good showers in the spa before you leave

"Do not go unless you are an OAP"

2.0

awful hotel, only enjoyable if you want to sleep all day. No music during the day, not allowed a small ball to throw around in the water and overall may as well be a care home. Won’t be returning

"Enjoyable trip,better next time hopefully"

8.0

A 21 night stay on all inclusive in a standard room.On our second visit to the hotel,we enjoyed ourselves, but the hotel could do better.Minor-air conditioning isn’t really cool enough & and due to it being in the bedroom is a little noisy. On all inclusive there needs to be a wider choice of drinks at meal times,we were refused sangria(which we couldn’t believe). On meal times, food was good with different themed nights and BBQ 3 times a week(a suggestion, provide wraps for people to make up wraps from chicken/salads etc).Last year we visited here and the drinks were very slow at meal times, this was much better this time.On drinks waiting time, one serving behind the bar with other staff providing table service(this doesn’t work) the hotel was fully booked, more staff needed behind the bar.On more than one occasion we waited 20 minutes for a drink, this is unacceptable(this was at the rooftop bar).A cider option would be good, either draft or bottle, this should be included on the all inclusive. The location of the hotel is very handy for beach/bars etc,bus stop nearby for island exploration. The pool areas both ground floor & roof are very good.No issues with sun beds.We used the gym area many times, which was quiet and very good. The spa also very nice. The biggest plus is the hard working staff, particularly the bar staff, they are so nice and hard working, but there’s not enough of them.On one occasion the lady behind the bar was completely on her own in the ground floor bar(any issues with drinks running out/collecting glasses) then the drinks serving came to a standstill,it’s very unfair for the staff concerned. We’ve booked for next year again,I really hope there are some improvements in areas I’ve highlighted,we like the hotel & one or two small improvements would make our holidays even better.Very good value for money & a tip, book direct for a discount.

"Disappointed"

6.0

For us did not meet standard room requirements.Hardly any hanging or shelf space for clothing. No internal chairs or drawers and table . Food was very hit and miss .caters mainly for Germans .we had a grotty view of a rundown shopping centre. Entertainment was for an OAP home. (We are mid 70’s sent us to sleep). Cleaning was good .All the staff work incredibly hard and are friendly. There is not much to do at this location unless you travel . Sorry to say we would not return 🙁

"CAUTION ALLERGY SUFFERERS AND VEGANS"

2.0

CAUTION ALLERGY SUFFERERS AND VEGANS The hotel staff will lie about the contents of food. We specifically asked for vegan yoghurt (specifying that this was different to "lactose-free") we were told it was vegan and made with oats only. We had this same conversation every day and were reassured each time. We found out on the final night that this was not true, the only yoghurt they had in the kitchens were all dairy based. Allergy signage throughout on all food was not present and staff, it turns out, could not be trusted to disclose allergens - just told you what they thought you wanted to hear. When non vegan yoghurt was discovered we complained at reception, the staff were very dismissive and said "well nobody died" and "couldn't you taste the difference?". My vegan sister suffered stomach issues throughout the week but could not identify the source, which now we know was the yoghurt. Overall not a vegan or allergen safe venue - DO NOT RECOMMEND.

"Comfortable and well-equipped, adults-only hotel"

10.0

Just returned from a successful holiday in Playa del Ingles: the weather was lovely and warm, and the hotel I chose was lovely too! The hotel was well run, comfortable and probably merited its four-star rating. Conveniently located, served by a large enough and well-disposed staff, the visitor experience was very good. Food at both breakfast and dinner was well-cooked, varied and never in short supply. There were generous barbecues three nights per week, and a good selection of fresh fish, cooked to order on the grill. Rooms - if mine was typical - are large and quite well equipped (reasonably comfortable bed, a good shower, desk, air con, enough cupboard space, electric kettle with instant coffee or tea supplied and good wifi). There was a small fridge to keep your drinks cold - but mine was on its last legs; drinks were never really cold). A large, wall-mounted TV was provided, but with very few English-language channels (CNN and France 24 en Anglais). The hotel's outdoor facilities were excellent and always kept clean: two decent-sized pools (one was heated) and a splendid, recently-built rooftop solarium (offering a comfortable bar and two large sunbathing areas (for naturists and non-naturists, both with jacuzzis amongst the loungers). Entertainment was a mixed bag, but there was live Spanish music offered several days a week, including a very entertaining Spanish language singer/guitarist. My only gripe was the lack of easily-available drinking water. No free water fountains anywhere, although I did find that the bar staff would fill your bottle if asked politely. On balance my stay at this hotel was a success, and I would recommend it to any adult.

"Hotel Staff deserve recognition"

8.0

Staff make the hotel. Stayed all inclusive. Pools and jacuzzi(s) excellent, food choice personally was very good with BBQ's and rotisserie etc. Health centre was really good and quiet and worth spending time down there. Lifts... nightmare waiting to happen Location.. not perfect but lots nearby Air-conditioning.. terrible. Entertainment - wasn't for us! Only improvement they could easily make Is better labelling on the food. Would I stay again.. no due to lifts and air-conditioning. Sad really as staff were fantastic. Would recommend if those two things didnt bother you.

"Disappointed overall with the hotel but a great holiday"

6.0

Booked for 10 days through jet2. Whilst we had a great holiday, the hotel wasn’t quite what we hoped. Good points - extremely clean, rooms, facilities all well looked after the cleaners do a brilliant job - location is handy for playa del ingles, maspalomas and other towns by bus - spacious room with excellent shower - multiple pool areas, loads of sun beds and a great roof terrace with great views and whirlpools - the restaurant underneath the hotel (Alma Gaia) is excellent, great food and wine and a nice courtyard for a drink Negatives - hotel is quite old fashioned, in particular the dining room and lobby bar which - food is very disappointing, not what you’d expect from a 4*. Lots of choice but very bland and repetitive - we’re not entertainment people but if that’s your thing it’s terrible - aircon in the rooms doesn’t work. We asked for it to be repaired but were told along with other guests that 24’c is as low as it goes Also worth noting the hotel is primarily German guests is catered for their culture and cuisine - drinks selection is also poor, only one beer on tap and one wine by the glass which isn’t great
