Capital O Mimi Del Mar, Playa del Carmen

One day, my room was not prepared by the cleaning worker.

The hotel is very nice, charming, and a great value for the price. It’s in the perfect location right by the beach and just steps away from 5th Avenue. We loved walking along the beach and especially enjoyed walking 5th Avenue at night. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile and even helping with our suitcases. Just a small note: it can be a little tricky to find at first since it’s right on the beach and there’s no direct parking. We had to park in a nearby lot and carry our bags down. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would definitely come back.

The location was really good. However, play del Carmen was facing sargassum issues during this time. So despite the beach being in front of the hotel, we didn’t enjoyed really well.

The room was not clean properly and the room looked like older than the pics in booking.com. Also, there was no information about the wifi and there was no one at the reception to give us more info about it.

I checked in and 1st i had to pay a cleaning fee for each day ahead of time but unless you hand over your key they can't get in supposedly. Which is a bit uncomfortable. Also the bar only accepts cash while ever other place on the beach accepts cards. I also had money taken from my safe and shown that there was extra keys to my safe (when they were trying to prove the opposite). The wifi would go in and out regularly at night. Could happen during the day too but didn't hang out in my room. I won't be back to this hotel again.

Fridge didn't work, ceilings fan did not work and the A/C was not enough to cool the room

Sink faucet had very little flow and shower head broken. AC cooled great but a little too much as it ran continuously. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Great location.

Maintenance

This hotel is in a great location but it is very tired and could use an upgrade. However, comfortable and close to everything
