The staff and owner, Marty, are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was much more than we expected and the victorian style main room was a good place to chat and meet other folks. The hot tub was clean and the view from the roof top was excellent. We would stay again for a nice get away in the city.

I wanted to like this place. The decor is interesting, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's just that we booked this place specifically so that we could use a hot tub late at night. On the website, it mentions that each room has a hot tub and that there is a 24 hour tub in the garden that you can use, as long as you are respectful. Once we get there. they tell us that means the jets can't be used either in the room or outside after 9. Then we find out the jets in the outdoor tub are broken. Since it was the whole reason we booked, we won't be returning.

The room was small but very very cozy, bed was small but also cozy. The bathtub was small too (could sit but not lay down) but nice and deep. Breakfast was very extensive and gorgeous to both the eye and the tastebuds. The place should be described as a B&B, not a hotel, and the entire place was furnished with beautiful old-fashioned appointments.

People should be aware that there are no elevators, and lots of stairs. My room was next to the garden on the first floor, and there were lots of tiny ants that came in along the outer wall. This probably would not affect the other rooms in the place, though.

Cold , room old , smell not good in the room , like to dust . The calefactor just worked for 2 min , after that switch off and did not worked longer . there was an opened door to exterior in the same floor that our room that was not possible to close it . We should not be there fore to exterior in the same floor

All the staff and owner were very friendly and accommodating. The BnB was beautiful with lovely gardens. The breakfast had a large variety of fruits, pastries and quiche.

Prime location! Close to everything, beautiful facilities, staff were so kind.

All those stairs! And get ready for the tightest park of your life if you bring a car. Grateful to have been able to park it off road though.

Just one man’s opinion. Staying at The Inn San Francisco feels like you're staying at your rich elderly aunt's house. It’s a classic old building in The Mission District. We were here as our son lives nearby. I don’t know how they get 5.0 stars. I would give 3.0. but I am giving 4.0 stars as I don't want to be too punitive. As a hotelier myself, I know ratings matter. So let's see...What's the most important thing in a hotel? The bed and the pillows, right? Here, the bed pillows are small, old and hard. No better then the ones at a Days Inn or a Motel 6. And frankly, our dog's bed pillow is nicer. I asked for a replacement but the alternate was no better (I ultimately used the couch cushion for a pillow as it was softer). This is an easy fix so I hope they do. TV is SD and only basic cable, not even ESPN. Now that’s basic. It is really annoying to surf through the channels and only a few are activated, and really poor quality. We were paying over $350.00 per night. Not a discount hotel. Shower was ok but fluctuated between cold and scalding. It's an old building so I can understand that but the valves need to be set so that the hot water can never get hot enough to burn you. No heat or AC in the room. I had to ask for a heater for the bathroom. They do comp you a nice breakfast and the people are nice, yet the whole place feels dark and in need of a freshening. I did leave a note mentioning the above issues and $20.00 for housekeeping. I was hoping to hear from someone as we checked out on Sunday and now it is Tuesday. If I had I would have likely not published this review. But future guests should be alerted to these inconsistencies between what appear to be a 5 star hotel on the internet, and what you actually get, which is OK but not 5.0. Just one man’s opinion, though.

My daughter and I loved staying here! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. Marty was so accommodating and made sure we had a great time in SF with some helpful tips. Our garden cottage was absolutely perfect with two bedrooms and a wonderfully relaxing deep tub. We loved the decor. The buffet breakfast in the gorgeous dining rooms was delicious and I liked that it was available all morning, great for early and late risers. The building is historic and we learned a lot from the photographs on the first floor with Marty’s help. The garden area was lovely and the views from the rooftop terrace were amazing. We agreed that we couldn’t have found better lodgings and will definitely be back!

We stayed here for 3 nights to help our son move into his new apartment in the Mission area. We really loved the personal touches that this place has to offer. Marty gave us a welcome tour and explained the history of the area and a tour of the house. There is a beautiful outdoor garden and a hot tub. There is always hot water and tea bags available 24/7 plus regular and decaf coffee. Breakfast every morning from 7-11 is the best you will ever have. Assortment of fruit, yogurts, pastry, cheeses, salami, quiche, oatmeal etc. It was so nice to meet the other guests who were from all over the world and of course Marty is there every morning asking what your plans are. Parking is a challenge on this street, for an extra fee ( $35) there is a secure garage, though the spaces are tight ( better to have a smaller car) The only negative was our particular room ( #35) the shower is a claw foot tub with a shower curtain and it is not in its own room, so when my husband would shower the room got pretty humid. The toilet is in its own small room. TV was also not working, but was not an issue for us. We did see other rooms as people left and they are all different. The bedding was super comfortable and we slept very well. We cant wait to return in the future. The only place we will stay in SF. Thank you Marty for making our stay extra special.
