De Vere Wokefield Estate

Our recent stay at De Vere Wokefield Estate was disgusting, we had reserved three rooms for a two-night visit. Regrettably, our experience was severely impacted by a large religious convention held on the premises from 8 AM to 10 PM. We were not informed of this event in advance. The hotel was excessively noisy and the overall hygiene standards were far below expectations for a De Vere property. We were also disappointed to learn that the pool was unavailable due to the convention—an amenity our two young toddlers had been looking forward to enjoying. Had we been made aware of these circumstances, we would have opted for alternative accommodation, such as a Travelodge, at a significantly lower cost. The lack of communication regarding the event and its impact on facilities was unacceptable. The premises were in disarray, with overflowing bins and unsanitary toilets. Parking was extremely limited. Additionally, the presence of unsupervised children and the absence of sufficient staff to manage the situation created a chaotic and uncomfortable environment. On several occasions, guests felt compelled to intervene, which should not have been necessary. This stay was intended to be a celebration of my mother’s 60th birthday, but the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by these issues. This experience has been deeply disheartening. We have also emailed the hotel and had no response.

We had a lovely family stay at De Vere Wokefield Estate. From the moment we checked in, Alex and Taz were very welcoming. The room was comfortable and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was very relaxing. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of fresh options – definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Another highlight was the swimming pool, which our daughter absolutely loved and didn’t want to leave! Overall, it was a really enjoyable stay for our family and we’d be happy to return again.

We stayed here as we had a day ticket for Reading Festival so stayed the night before and the night of the festival. We did not realise we had booked somewhere so fancy as it was a last minute booking and this was the closest hotel of a reasonable price. We stayed in the Wellington building but walked through the mansion house to check on at reception its an impressive building! Had a great night's sleep with air con and lovely comfy beds. Shower was a waterfall shower not great pressure but it was fine. The bathroom door needs a hook on the back (room 847) but other than that the amenities were great. Lovely Penhaligon toiletries available and tea/coffee making facilities in room. We had breakfast the first morning but missed it on the second as we slept in longer ! Breakfast was a nice quality English breakfast buffets with saudage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, beans, scrambled egg and fried eggs. Variety of bread . There were also pastries available and Cereal with different milk options. Tea and coffee and various different juices on offer too. There was also a separate gluten free station with bread and Cereal and separate toast which I thought was really thoughtful. We had a great stay even without making use of the golf course or spa! Would definitely recommend this hotel for a luxury stay in scenic grounds. We saw wild bunnies at night!

I stayed 4 nights and would not recommend. Today the entire hotel was taken over for an Islamics conference which involved turning the entire reception area and ground into a tacky bizarre including the courtyard outside my room , selling clothes, tat and food - It was so noisy I ate out for lunch . The manager was not at all interested in my complaints

Excellent breakfast and clean room

Hotel is wondeful...everything you need and hope for. However it is clear the Golf Course is a resort course so therefore lacks the required maintenance. With recent conditions fairways are unplayable and many Greens have areas of bald mud. Also please requests receipts on card payments. I was charged a surchage for wine at dinner and "group discount" in bar was not always applied. However I would like to compliment Sophie, Drew and Cavin for their professionalism and customer interface.

One night stay in the beautiful manor house , Room 302 was beautiful, so clean, Lovely tea tray, All staff we met were so friendly,and kind, Breakfast service and food 5 stars , Looking forward to coming back .

24 of us went to Wakefield Park for an overnight stay and two rounds of golf. Un fortunately the golf course is in a very sad state, some greens are brown and bare in places the fairways are brown and baked hard. Must be hard with no rain for months. In contrast the hotel was great, the rooms were clean and tidy. We had a breakfast and evening meal which was very good. Also the staff were all very helpful and polite

The stay wasn’t good. The hotel double booked both my bookings with another family. They took around 30mins to sort it out. The room itself isn’t worth the price I paid for it. No water given. The room needs a proper clean before handed over. There is a lack of lights in the room. The hotel has a horrible layout with confusing corridors. The bathroom is nice.
