If you call them they will act like they can’t hear you and then hang up. Tried booking a room multiple times

"Bad Experience"

4.0

One elevator did not work properly, one did. Causing massive lines and delays trying to get to and from our rooms. Ice machine on floor did not work. Staff was extremely loud cleaning the rooms slamming doors repeatedly. No chairs on balcony. Outlets in room barely worked. WiFi was extremely slow and had poor connectivity issues our whole stay. Pool towel checkout and check in was inconvenient and time consuming. People smoking by the pool while children were present. People smoking weed in their room on our floor. Not enough chairs by the pool, causing people to leave or have to go down to the beach and find somewhere to sit or lay. Have had much better experiences at other Hyatt properties, even this one in the past.

Location and view is great!

Location, view and breakfast are great! Other than that one of the elevators were out of service. We put a request for Anniversary and no one say happy Anniversary at Check In time. And because it was a Hyatt we expect more.

"Not a Hyatt :("

2.0

Wonderful ocean view with immediate access to the beach, but unfortunately that's where the Hyatt experience ends. The service, food offered, and overall facilities in the hotel were below any other Hyatt I have been at both in the U.S. and internationally. Check in was alright. But the room had no shampoo and body wash; when I asked for that it took over 45 minutes to bring it and two calls. One of the two elevators wasn't working and when guests raised the issue staff - they were non-plussed. Other staff didnlt know where stuff was in the hotel (outdoor showers to clean up from the sand before coming in). Breakfast food was dry (was it reheated from the day before?). Fruits were covered with corn syrup (why??; isn't the point to have a healthy food option??).

"Disappointing"

2.0

We stayed here to celebrate our 1-year wedding anniversary and babymoon, so I had really high expectations—especially because it’s a Hyatt. Unfortunately, this stay was just… meh. Before even arriving, I called the hotel twice to ask if they could do something small or special in the room to celebrate our anniversary. Both times I was told, “we don’t do that,” which was already a bit disappointing considering the occasion. I’ve always trusted the Hyatt brand, so I was honestly surprised and disappointed. This property felt much closer to a motel than what I expected from a hotel under this name. From the moment we arrived, there was a noticeable humidity smell, and the hallways were extremely hot for some reason. Walking to our room, we saw wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in the walls, and even a trash bag sitting outside rooms that hadn’t been picked up. There was also trash overflowing both inside and outside throughout the property that was never replaced or cleaned during our stay. The biggest frustration by far was the elevator situation—there was only ONE working elevator for guests and staff. No priority was given to guests, so it was completely first come, first serve. The hotel was fairly busy, and everyone was waiting a long time. At times, people were waiting 5+ minutes, and by day two there was even a line. The lobby and hallways were so incredibly hot that it made the wait even more miserable. Guests were visibly frustrated. While waiting, we kept hearing people say things like, “this one is not like the one we stayed at before,” which honestly validated that we weren’t the only ones feeling disappointed. At one point, we even saw another pregnant couple give up on waiting and use the stairwell because the situation was just overwhelming and the wait was too long. On top of that, staff presentation felt very unprofessional—one staff member was even wearing slide sandals. The staff overall were kind and friendly, but not very knowledgeable and didn’t seem too interested in resolving issues or making things right. For example, I asked for an extra pillow due to pregnancy and needing additional support for my back. The front desk said they would check to see if they could find one, but I never heard back. It’s honestly surprising that a hotel wouldn’t have extra pillows available. We booked and paid for an ocean view king room, but instead received a room with two beds that felt smaller than queens. My husband is 6’3 and I’m pregnant, so this was really uncomfortable for us. The only way we could somewhat sleep comfortably was by using separate beds, which felt really odd as a married couple—especially while celebrating our 1-year anniversary. The front desk mentioned they would provide a credit for this issue, but nothing has shown up on our bill. The room itself had several issues: • Phone didn’t work • Desk chair was ripped • AC vent was dirty • Room smelled humid and felt warm (took hours to cool down) • Sliding balcony door was extremely hard to open (literally a workout—even my husband struggled) • Balcony had no furniture, so there was no way to actually enjoy the view • Shower head squeaks and had inconsistent/low water pressure • Toilet was very hard to flush • Doors squeak loudly • Clock in the room is very outdated • Outlets seem low voltage—our phones took a very long time to charge • Mold under the faucet The WiFi was honestly one of the worst parts—HORRIBLE. I get better WiFi at Walmart. For a place that advertises itself as dog-friendly, there is barely any space for dogs to potty. The “grass area” is extremely small—maybe about 5 feet, if that—which is very inconvenient. Breakfast was also disappointing. It was served on what looked like Walmart-style paper plates with plastic utensils. The menu was very limited, and several chairs in the breakfast area were broken. At one point there was no coffee available, and we had to go find someone ourselves to have it refilled. I will say the food and coffee themselves were decent. The only real highlight of our stay was the pool area—it was relaxing and being right by the ocean made it enjoyable. Overall, the hotel is very outdated, and the online photos are misleading—they make it look much more modern than it actually is. This might be an okay option if you’ve driven a long distance, just need a place to sleep for a few hours, and plan to leave early in the morning—but it’s definitely not the experience I expected for a special trip. I do hope management takes this feedback seriously and looks into these issues, as well as follows up on the unresolved concerns from our stay. I hate to say it, but this was not the experience I expected, especially for such a meaningful occasion and from a brand I’ve always trusted.

"Problem with Hyatt Reward Calendar Resolved by Giovanni"

10.0

I’d like to recognize service offered by Hyatt manager Giovanni at this Hyatt Place. I used the Hyatt award calendar tool at the Hyatt site to make a reservation, selecting the date I wanted in July via the Hyatt award calendar to stay at this Hyatt Place. Turns out, selecting the date at the Hyatt award calendar doesn’t transfer to the actual Hyatt reservation site, which is default set for the current date. I recognized the problem and called the hotel within about 12 hours, but the reservation had already taken hold for that night. The person at the desk said a manager would call back later that day, but I had to call back when I didn’t receive a return call. I did have to make several calls to Hyatt Place over 3 or 4 days, but Giovanni eventually did understand the problem and said he would honor the reservation for the July date I actually wanted. A Hyatt free night certificate was used and thanks to Giovanni I was able to set the date right in July using the free night certificate and I didn’t have to lose the use of this free night certificate. We are looking forward to our July visit at the Daytona Beach Hyatt Place. We have stayed at this location before and enjoyed the features/pool/location at the Daytona Beach Hyatt Place. Cannot answer all questions on this survey, although an answer is required for each question, because I did not check in or stay at the hotel due to the scheduling problems with the Hyatt reward calendar.
