Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge

Welcome drink offered on arrival. Premise had a souvenir shop inside. Also it has a tunnel leading into the park where one can get to see wild animals. There is a love channel in the TV giving view of the tunnel 24*7 Rooms were big and had seating outside overlooking the lawn. 2 chairs and table were given Breakfast - had huge spread of live counter as well as other food items. There was warm fireplace indoors as well as outside seating with a small waterhole created for animals to come by. We saw 2 white rhinos near the lodge during our dinner and also several other animals and birds. Fire place across the restaurant so that we could keep warm as it was very cold Staff - Had mixed experience with some eager to help and some would grumble yet serve you The drive in to the National park would happen twice a day, early morning at 6 am and around 3.30 pm in the afternoon. The canters were nice offering good view of the animals and were equipped with blankets since weather would be cold. Ranger had good knowledge and we had a good time. Kudos to H, our Ranger. Barbeque was amazing, we had 3 options each of Lamb, beef and chicken besides wide option of desserts. There was live singing by group of locals which was entertaining and refreshing. They also served welcome drink of local alcohol which was good and some thing new Only disadvantage was that our rooms were far from the reception area and was uphill climb to go to our rooms which didn’t help much We had a pleasant stay and would recommend a visit again

A brief family bushveld experience that catered to our every need. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating to our kids. The youth Ranger experience was most enjoyable for our oldest and being able to take our kids on the game drives really made it memorable and a great family time.

This beautiful lodge is well maintained with beautiful surroundings. It is so peaceful and serene that I didn’t want to leave! I had a good size and beautiful room with a balcony and amazing views. The two pool areas are lovely to relax by, although the water was very cold at this time of year. There is a good size restaurant which served a very good quality breakfast and dinner buffet. I enjoyed sitting outside to eat, overlooking the Pilanesberg game reserve. One morning at breakfast we had Rhino come to join us! Elephants, a leopard and a cheetah were also spotted by other guests. I particularly liked the added touch of the ‘hide’. You had to walk down a tunnel to get there. There were some stools to sit down so you could sit and wait for wildlife to come up close to you. I treated myself to a massage at the spa inbetween my two game drives of the day and this was lovely also. But of course, the highlight of my stay has to be the game drives. This was one of my favourite days ever, watching the animals in their natural habitat and getting up close. Our driver didn’t rush us and was happy to wait for us to spend time observing the animals. Overall, the lodge is spotlessly clean with friendly staff. I really didn’t want to leave! The only issue I had was at checkout when I had a bill for drinks which I had already paid for. I was part of a larger group and I think there was confusion with bar tabs, so maybe the way this is worked could be changed. Thank you Kwa Maritane for a wonderful stay and memories that will last a lifetime. I would definitely recommend.

This is a great place for families if you’re looking to combine game drive with options for kids’ activities or a short drive to Sun City for a day visit. All just a couple of hours drive from Johannesburg.

Great for families

What a beautiful 4 days we've just spent at Kwa Maritane. The staff are hardworking & it shows throughout the resort. The restaurant served delicious meals, including full buffet ontinental & cooked breakfast along with an omlette & waffle/pancake Station. The restaurant staff are the most attentive I've come across, with smiles & acknowledged throughout the stay. We stayed in an executive room which was cleaned to the highest of spec. There's a fridge & safe in each room along with a bath & seperate power shower. We enjoyed sitting outside on our balcony during the hot daytime heat or beside the fence, watching the animals roam around the area. The Hide is a great addition to Kwa Maritane & you can sit & watch beside the water hole without the animals knowing (unless you have inconsiderate, loud, chatty people in the next room!) The pools are great, very clean & maintained daily - along with the rest of the grounds. There's a pool table, table tennis, football table, climbing wall, tennis courts, trampoline, mini golf & an onsite conservation area so all the family have something to do. The game drives were great & our drivers were knowledgeable & hungry to tell us all they knew about all the animals & the park. The drivers all communicate via radios & when there's a sighting of some of the more elusive animals of the park, they share the location for everyone to have their turn in seeing the animal. I'd recommend taking some long sleeve tops & a hat/snood from April/May as the breeze in the truck in the mornings & in the evening can be very nippy - even with the lap blankets they provide! Half way through the drive, you stop at a toilet area & the driver has hot drinks, beers & soft drinks with snacks, for you to enjoy. Make sure you take a walk around the rest stop areas as they are often with hidden views of some stunning landscapes sceneries you will not want to miss. Take your camera to the toilet with you & thank me later ! The onside shop has extra jumpers & scaves if you forget to pack something warm plus they hold a nice range of gifts for all age groups. Both myself & my partner have enjoyed our stay at Kwa Martine & this is all thanks to all the staff. It truly felt like a personal experience everywhere we turned. I hope to return in the future. Oh, I forgot to say. At the reception area, for R75 you can purchase a box of food supplement which get distributed to the less wealthier communities. This is such a worthy cause & I am proud to have contributed. Thanks Kwa Maritane. #feed the world

Spent two nights at Kwa (including 4 game drives). Highly recommend the Lodge and its staff. Location, facilities, hospitality: all were excellent.

Three days in the bush with full service. Very good Breakfast & Diner. Nice Bars and nice pools. Timms were clean and functional. Top Location in the Park
