Incredible experience, Sofia was unbelievable and very attentive to my needs and my treatment requests. Highly recommended experience if you’re in Crete!

Good points : lovely location with views over the bay, after reading reviews we just had a main building garden view room which was more than adequate for us, it was cleaned every day and tea coffees etc replenished as well, came with private seating area, and it was quiet, we were on half board basis, food was of excellent quality, with lots of choice, It is about a 30 minute walk into Elounda, which we did daily, taxi is now 12 euros, the friendly people at reception will book this for you, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes, not the best road to walk in the dark but easy to get a taxi back from the square in Elounda, On the last day we were due to check out at 11 o’clock, they will keep your bags in reception, we were being picked up at 8 o’clock, unfortunately I was not feeling at all well, so they kindly let us stay in the room until 6 o’clock which was very much appreciated. They even brought some toast up to the room for me. Not so good points : The waiting staff are very quick to clear your plates away sometimes when you haven’t finished and are still holding a fork in your hand, they don’t ask, we lost a bottle of water when we had gone to get dessert ! Also they don’t seem happy if you are not drinking with your meal, you even pay for the water and they will try to give you the more expensive glass bottle at six euros, really feel that filtered water should be available with your meal, you pay enough to stay here, they push the environment message which is good but this is an oversight that needs to be addressed. You are not allowed to bring your own water bottle in to the restaurant either, Any food that you haven't purchased at the beach or pool is not allowed to be eaten down there. The staff at the beach also don’t seem to be happy if you are not buying drinks constantly, not sure if they are encouraged to keep asking you every 30 minutes but can be irritating when you are trying to relax. The sunbeds with the nets in front of them on the jetty over the sea are not free it tells you this on the app which we read, but would be helpful if they made this clearer maybe with a tag on them explaining this, as many times we witnessed people sitting on them only to be asked to move. Shame about these few things as overall it is a nice hotel .

I stayed at Aquila Elounda village from September 16th to 19th. Overall: This is an incredible resort. There is a lot to explore and plenty of options for relaxing. It has 5 star appeal and great staff. This was where I spent my final days of a 3 week trip around Croatia and Greece as a solo traveler so that I could relax and unwind before returning home to Canada. I will share some of the things that did not meet my expectations, but I will say that all of these were addressed by Maria during my visit. I wish I had expressed my concerns sooner because they were well received and likely could have been fixed. Room for improvement: I've attached two photos. One shows the room on the website - and the other is the room I received. These rooms (Mythica Superior Suite Sea View) are both in the same room category, but to me one is clearly superior to the other. Because I booked hoping for a sunny terrace, I was very disappointed when I had a fully shaded terrace that looks nothing like the photos. I was only there for 3 days. Most of the restaurants were booked so I did not get to experience the Symposium restaurant, nor the cocktail making class that I would have enjoyed. Because of this I would have considered not doing the full all inclusive as I ended up going off property for a meal. Yes the buffet is always included and is good, but that's not what I had in mind for my final meals in Greece. Housekeeping does not replace your room glassware, but rather wipes them down and puts it back. I did not find this to be very sanitary. Service could be quite slow. I had read from others that it was great so I suspect that because I was travelling alone I didn't quite get the service that is the norm of this hotel. Removing room service dishes from my room was also quite slow and my plates were left in my room all day. Highlights: I went on a boat excursion which was included. This was the highlight of my trip and such a treat! I loved this suggestion from Maria and it was a very unique experience. There are so many options to lounge around. By the pool, or the beach, a quiet place, or more social, and all types of beds. And no matter where you are you can see the Sea. I've never seen a hotel set up like this. The layout and design are perfect. The Spa. I had a great treatment at the spa and the facilities are luxurious. Many of the amenities are included and appeared to me to be under utilized. Tips: I would absolutely go back to Aquila Elounda with these two tips in mind: If something is not satisfactory - speak up sooner than later. The staff is very responsive. If you're staying for a short trip the all inclusive may not be as beneficial as many things may be booked up and there are no exceptions if you are only there for a short stay. The full value may not be there for a short trip. Thanks and hopefully I return one day!

The massage I had with Sofia was exceptional, I have lower back pain and I asked her to pay attention to it, and she did it was outstanding.

I am 47 years old and have had many massages over the years, but my experience with Sofía was by far the best massage I have ever had. From the moment she greeted me, I felt welcomed, cared for, and completely at ease. Sofía has an incredible gift—she combines skill, intuition, and genuine care in a way that is truly rare. Every movement felt purposeful and tailored exactly to what my body needed. She was able to find the perfect balance between relaxation and deep therapeutic work, leaving me feeling both restored and re-energized. What stood out the most was her attention to detail and her ability to create a calming atmosphere. She checked in just enough to ensure I was comfortable, yet allowed me the space to completely let go and enjoy the experience. Her technique is second to none, and her touch carries both strength and gentleness at the same time. I walked out feeling lighter, pain-free, and deeply relaxed—like a brand new person. Sofía is truly an exceptional therapist, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you have the chance to book a massage with her, do yourself the favor—you will not regret it!

Basic gym equipment/ unable to do weight training - poor gym for a 5star resort. Spa was incredible Dining options weren’t great and couldn’t order snacks to the sun loungers - not even a fruit salad.

We stayed in a bungalow room. First of all, there is an unfinished, abandoned hotel right next to the property, which completely ruins the view. The bathroom was poorly lit and the room had a constant unpleasant toilet smell. Housekeeping was done very superficially, and towels were only changed every 4–5 days. At the beach, waiters constantly asked “what do you want to drink” every few minutes, and when you ordered, drinks came in small 200 ml paper cups filled with ice. The beach bar offered nothing to eat except toast. Reaching the beach requires going down 250–300 steps, which is another problem. The fitness room was dirty, with cobwebs, hair on the floor, no towels, no water, and very limited equipment. The cable machine was missing handles and the only dumbbell available was just 1.5 kg. Restaurant service was chaotic and the food quality was very poor. We stayed here last year and had a much better impression, but this year it was a big disappointment. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel.
