Marriott's Aruba Surf Club

We are Marriot Vacation Club owners. We have traveled the world staying at Marriott properties. We have been coming to Aruba for 16 years now. Usually September/October timeframe been here in May a few times as well. We have become friends with some of the locals. There is so much good to say about Aruba in itself, but the Marriothas always been great to us wherever we stay. We love the service we love the beach.

I will preface this by saying that we are here now, we own here and overall the Aruba Marriott Surf Club is an amazing resort. We’ve been coming to the surf club for about 20 years, after purchasing our time shares here. This is the first year I have any complaints. It’s tired here. The unit is dated (and yes, I know they are slowly refurbishing them) the furnishings, bathrooms, kitchen are showing tremendous wear, the entire 3 br unit we are in is very weary. Additionally, the third bedroom (the actual lock off unit) is uninhabitable. The AC is on and seems to be working, but the heat in that unit is unbearable. It also has very musty moldy smell. We couldn’t actually stay in there. It was just that bad. Since we were only 2 couples, we just moved over to the other bedroom, which is much better. The beach food/drink service was basically non existent. They have a QR code on the palapa that they want you to use to order. However, the QR code rarely works. You attempt to place your order but it never goes through. So we figured a server would be along soon. Ummmm no. Nobody came around to take any orders. This is bad business. Obviously they do not want to employ people anymore to walk along the beach and take orders. And when the QR code doesn't work… well as a vacationer at a resort, that leaves a bad taste. And while the employees are not unfriendly, they are not completely friendly or particularly happy either. I hope they get this place back to what’s it used to be soon.

We booked this hotel through an Explore package of Marriott. The hotel was nice and facilities are great. The lazy river is a nice touch. The beach is clean and has palapa fir shade. Close to shopping and restaurants

We exchanged our Starwood’s property to stay here in a 2 bedroom lockoff. The smaller unit is nothing more than a hotel room with a microwave and small frig. Since we were Starwood’s platinum elite we were upgraded to a room overlooking the parking lot. No benefits here. Staff was uniformed about cleaning days, other basic info and amenities. Overall the resort was kinda loud with construction going on in the Lighthouse towers which you could hear from the pool and beach. I think you could do better somewhere else.

This place was so loud and unenjoyable. They are preforming loud drilling from 9:30am-6:30pm. We heard it in the pool, room, beach echoing. This was not relaxing and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I feel like I need another vacation after all the banging and drilling noises. Very disappointed. One happy island? I won’t be back.

First time in Aruba. What a wonderful island…we will be back! Our stay at the Surf Club was excellent. Staff friendly, check-in and out super easy. We stayed in the Lighthouse building and loved the location. Close proximity to pool and beach, and had a view of the ocean, which was great. Room was clean and well appointed. Glad they are renovating. Shower was awkward, could barely fit under it and I’m not a big or tall person, new showers will be a big upgrade. The light switches for the mast bath were strangely placed, hope they relocate them to inside the actual bathroom. Elevator system is amazing. So fast! Wish they had a second one at the hall closest to the beach. We used the stairs, but elevator would be a huge upgrade. Getting to town was not well-marked from the resort. Finally after going via the beach or highway, we found an access area. Food at pool/beach was pretty awful. After one day of ordering nachos and chicken tenders, we stayed clear. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend to others. Pools, beach were amazing. Chair system is annoying but we made it work. Set your alarm and get what you can.

Stayed in a two bedroom and a one bedroom connected pool view. I’m a dvc member and sometimes find places I stay at don’t live up to dvc. Surf club did live up to my expectations. Very clean, they come in half way thru my stay. Changed all towels, cleaned kitchen, bathroom, and made the beds. The people in Aruba are beyond friendly and it transfers into the resort. Great restaurants right out back door by beach, also with in a 10 minute walk to Main Street. Main pools a beautiful with a lazy river. Try the burger you can order from your pollapa if I said it right. First time like me go on line and buy cheap blow up floats. You won’t regret floating for hours in their pristine calm waters. I will be back to Aruba and will stay at the surf club. Oh by the way the pirate ship a must especially with kids is right out the back of hotel.One last thing it is a time share so don’t answer the phone lol.

The Marriott Surf Club & Ocean Clubs are amazing. So much do do and I think Marriott outdoes itself with catering to families. Make many terrific memories together!!
