"Nice but away from town"

7.0

Location is south and above downtown. Too far to walk from port realistically although that's exactly what we did to get there as we had no luck in getting a cab. Hotel provides an hourly shuttle to and back from there town. Overall hotel is good and staff were friendly and helpful. Provided daily breakfast was surprisingly good.

"Extremely Tired Hotel With Multiple Maintenance Issues"

2.0

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay here was very disappointing. The property is sadly rundown and in serious need of maintenance. While a few staff members were polite and helpful, several reception staff were dismissive when we raised concerns, which made resolving problems unnecessarily stressful. Room & Facilities Room: Both rooms we stayed in were in a state of disrepair. This included broken tissue box holder, a faulty hairdryer, plaster coming off the walls, poor quality and tired furniture, the room telephone didn’t work properly and general areas of dirt. Whilst they were able to move us from the initial room on our second night (which we were thankful for) due to faulty air conditioning among other issues, the second room was in better condition but still had numerous issues and was tired and dated. Noise: Our first room had a loud buzzing from the lift machinery and almost no soundproofing. We could hear other guests and late-night entertainment. Air Conditioning: Worked only intermittently despite efforts from one helpful receptionist. The air conditioning initially worked until it ceased to work properly following the resolution of the buzzing sound. Cleanliness & Condition: Bathroom felt grimy with heavy limescale, wardrobe and fridge-cupboard hinges were broken, skirting boards damaged, and only two plug sockets. We even found a broken glass with shards inside the fridge on arrival. Wi-Fi: Patchy throughout the hotel and essentially unusable in our room. Amenities Pool water was green and murky, and both hot tubs were out of service (something we later learned has been ongoing, but it wasn’t disclosed at booking). The pool area was again generally outdated (particularly the sun loungers). Unfortunately we did not feel able to use the pool facilities during our stay due to their condition. Rooftop bar never opened during our stay. The rooftop additionally had crumbling beams and discarded wooden doors and building materials lying around. Gym equipment was rusty, outdated, dirty, and potentially unsafe, with loose floor matting. No complimentary drinking water after breakfast—bottles are €3 each. Bottom Line Although a few staff members were courteous and tried to help, the overall experience was frustrating. With so many basic maintenance and cleanliness issues, I cannot recommend this hotel until significant renovations have taken place. It is shameful that this is being advertised as a four star hotel (which it clearly is not having experienced it) and charging such a steep price for such a poor experience. I feel sorry for the staff who had to constantly firefight issues across the hotel, many seemed exhausted, tired and frustrated.

"Lovely friendly restaurant staff and great food."

8.0

The highlight of our stay here was the quality of service in the restaurant. My daughter has several food allergies and they catered for her at every meal and went the extra mile to ensure she had plenty of options, unlike most hotels. Francesco, Toni, Casperi & Francesco were wonderful - so friendly and helpful! The food was excellent as there was also a wide range available and the outdoor meal in the lemon garden was outstanding. The location was good and we were offered Prosecco on arrival. Easy bus journey away from the centre of Sorrento (no path to walk further up the road). The view from the hotel was fab as we could see Vesuvius clearly from 3rd floor. Rooms very clean and spacious - excellent upkeep and friendly cleaning staff. Plenty of clean towels given. However, the road is very noisy and busy. Monika, the main Tui rep was very knowledgeable on the free Tui tour and was very helpful. We went on ai tour of Vesuvius along with a lunch and wine tasting which we would fully recommend. It was a lovely family restaurant and we missed the crowds at the top of Vesuvius. The pool is clean, warm and small and not too busy either. Plenty of sun beds even though it was the height of August. Maybe a change of music around the pool would make it even better. Great holiday and a hotel that was excellent value for money with fun low key entertainment and friendly hospitality.

"Not a 4* Standard"

6.0

I don't want this to be a negative review because we did have a lovely holiday here last week, but there re definitely improvements to be made if this were to be a genuine 4* hotel. We largely suspect it is only a 4* so they can charge €4pppn tourist tax - interestingly every single hotel in the area appears to be 4* - coincidence? Room The room was spacious and clean with a nice size balcony and the housekeeping staff came every day to empty bins and change towels etc. But we did have to complain about the bathroom - the shower head was leaking from the pipe spraying water upwards against the wall which was covered in black mould so obviously been happening for a while. The maintenance guy did come and replace a part but my partner still had to tighten it by hand as it was still spraying out. They also just painted over the mould so not sure that was a long term solution. Every time one of us ran a tap or the shower the whole bathroom smelt like sewage for ages afterwards which was deeply unpleasant. Food We were half board so had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast was standard far, pastries, fruit, bacon, eggs etc. Milk for the cereal was always a bit warm, they could do with thermal flasks to keep it cool rather than jugs. Dinner there was always a buffet of salad/veg and every other night was a la carte for mains. The salad was always a bit dry and sad looking and the vegetables were generally room temperature at best - the hot plates didn't really keep anything hot, they could do with covers over everything, especially the fruit as well as the melon had fruit flies on it most mornings. The a la carte food was fresh and hot and generally very nice. Staff The staff were all friendly we spoke to various members of reception team and they were always helpful. The TUI team work hard to make sure everyone has a lovely holiday and allow you to join in with things as much or as little as you like. Francesco in the restaurant was very friendly, you can tell he's got an eye on everything going on there, super efficient. Miscellaneous The shuttle bus was useful to the town - having seen the way people drive I wouldn't have wanted to walk down that road with no pavement! The schedule was a little bit random and because you had to book it it was sometimes hard to know what time you'd want to come back when you're booking the night before. We caught the local buses a few time as the 008 stops right outside the hotel and costs €2pp each way. Reception do have copies of the timetable for this but I'd take it with a pinch of salt as they seem to just turn up when they want to - we ended up just standing at the bus stop and getting on the next bus that turned up. Drinks are expensive - they are in line with what you pay in town but €8 for a mocktail which is essentially fruit juice is a bit steep. Water was also expensive and you get one bottle in your room on arrival and no more. Best to get 2L bottles from the shop and store them in your fridge. I will email the hotel directly as well but I would like to suggest that the restaurant staff (including chefs) have more training when it comes to cross-contamination. My partner is coeliac and twice was ill having consumed gluten. Francesco was great bringing pre-packaged gluten free bread/muffins/cereal etc and for the evenings would cook the pasta dishes with gluten free pasta and point out anything not suitable on the buffet. But if you are coeliac steer clear of the pizzas in the lemon garden - we noticed on the second time that whilst they use a pre-packaged gluten free base all of the cheese and toppings are taken by hand from the same pots as non gluten free. We did raise this and the chef went and washed his floury hands but still used the same stuff that had already been touched.

"Friendly staff, food was ok but not great. Spacious rooms but balcony was non-existant."

7.0

Rooms were clean and facilities were ok.

All the photos show big balconies however the balcony we had you couldn’t even sit on it was so tight. There were two chairs and a small table crammed into a tiny space but it was so tight you couldn’t even move the chairs to sit down. More of a window ledge than a balcony. Don’t be fooled by the photos.
