The location and it was also quiet

The room had no air con and no fridge or water supplied. I would have thought a minimum for a room at this price. No luxury feel very big standard Bathroom tired

Lovely hotel, although a little remote but ideal if you wanted comfort and peace and quiet.

Too many steps for us, even getting to and from the lift. Also, the shower in our room was great, apart from the positioning of the soap dispensers. My husband is nearly 6' and I am just over 5' and neither of us could reach them comfortably.

Nice location, large room with functioning aircon and very comfortable bed. Luggage handling service was good as were the reception staff.

Spa was very basic, the pool was cool, the sauna wasn’t hot and there were no dressing gowns or slippers either in the bedroom or spa area. The locker wouldn’t open and the spa was not staffed, so I had to venture out in a towel to find someone to override the code to access my clothes. I went to dinner with wet hair as there wasn’t a hairdryer in the spa area either. The bar was poorly stocked on Friday evening. Out of light tonic, and Aperol although it was warm weather. Queues were long to get served and we were told there’d be an hour wait for food in the bar at 8:30pm

The peacocks

I am a regular guest at PM and just love the peace and tranquility. The food is excellent and the staff are fantastic - I always look forward to staying there.

Unfortunately on this occasion my stay didn’t go very smoothly. Firstly, the room was very cold and there appeared to be an issue with the thermostat. I had to ring or visit reception a number of times before it was resolved. In my opinion the controls should be checked in between guests. The following morning I had an alarm call booked for 04:30, but unfortunately someone had written 04:00 down and that’s the time I was woken - not ideal. Then, when I was getting ready for the day, I took a tissue from the box provided and found it was the last one - again, this should have been checked prior to a new guest checking into the room. The room was fine although the 2 chairs at the table were very stained and scruffy which is not the standard I am used to at PM.

Great location, well kept, roaming peacocks and beautifull trees in the garden. Tasty breakfast.

Having the room in top floor, with heavy suitcase, narrow staircase and no lift turned my stay into fitness challenge.

The pool and interesting old building

The many Peacocks roaming the grounds made it almost impossible to get a good nights sleep, were noisy all day long from 4am and didnt roost till 10pm Reception explained it was mating season but we were exhausted when we left!
