"Close to station"

8.0

The location is as great---it's right by the Utsunomiya JR station. The room was a little small, but well maintained. There was no wifi, but there was a high-speed LAN connection, so we just used one of our machines as a wifi router. The lack of chairs in the lobby was a minor problem.

"Good location, 24 hour coin laundry and good food."

6.0

Hotel is very conveniently located. Right next to the train station that takes you to Nikko's World Herritage Site. It is surrounded by little restaurants that sell Japanese Gyoza's (this city is the one with the highest consumption in all of Japan). A restaurant in front of the hotel has queue of local people every single night. The hotel has coin laundry facilities open 24 hours a way which is very convenient if you are travelling for a long period of time. Please do note that this is not a luxury hotel. I would say it is a 3 star hotel. Rooms are the typical Japanese size which is just slightly bigger than the bed itself, and bathrooms are of the prefabricated type, where the entire cabin (toilet, shower, walls, roof, floor) is one unit. However, even better hotel chains such as Nikko, seem to offer the same type of hotel in Japan for this price range. So the added benefit of laundry facilities and good inexpensive food around the hotel made this a good choice for Japan at this price range.

"Excellent"

8.0

We enjoyed our stay at Chisun. Booked a larger room (which was smoking) and it did stink. We bought some air freshener and you could also open the window for fresh air. Having the larger room (35sqm) on the Presidential Floor was so much more comfortable. There are heaps of good restaurants near the hotel plus all the shops at the JR station were good. We would stay here again....... The staff were very friendly and helpfull too

"Handy hotel"

8.0

Very handy to Utsunomiya Station, walk outside and you can see hotel across the road, great after a day of travelling. Bus station also outside station on hotel side which we used to. Big room, we had a twin (2 double beds) as that was all that was available when I booked. Had a desk and sofa also so plenty of room. The staff were very pleasant, had to leave room key at desk when leaving hotel. Ate breakfast once at hotel which was a reasonable price, mixture of Japanese/Western, more on Japanese side, but still enough to eat. It had laundry facilities on ground floor which was wonderful as most do not and hand washing gets tiring very quickly.

"Convenient to train station"

10.0

I needed a convenient base for a stay in Utsunomiya, close to the train station. There is no hotel closer than this, and as a bonus, the Marronnier express bus to Narita leaves from immediately in front of the hotel.

"Good hotel and location in Utsunomiya"

10.0

The hotel is just across the street from Utsunomiya train station, an easy walk even with big luggage. The hotel is nicely appointed and very sound-proof. Even though the location is at the train station and on a busy street, there were no noise issues. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Speaking English was no problem. We did not eat in the restaurant at the hotel, but it looked nice. There are a number of restaurants in and surrounding the train station, and on the street directly beside and across from the hotel. Highly recommend crossing to the opposite side of the train station (hotel can provide directions) to a gyozan restaurant. Gyozan is a local speciatly of dumplings, served steamed, fried or grilled. They are pork-filled, 2-bite sized dough pockets. Awesome! The other local specialty to try is lemon milk -- awesome as well! There is some shopping in the train station. I was very happy with the hotel room, condition, comfort and service. It was a great value. I would recommend this hotel, and will stay there again on future trips.
