George Hotel, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent

It’s fair to say this hotel is in some serious need of refurbishment, as you walk up the main staircase the wallpaper is literally hanging on for dear life, the carpet is past thread bare and has had no decoration of any description for about 30 years maybe more, the general facilities leave a lot to be desired with 1 cup from the 1970’s 2 saucers for tea but no milk and no spoons, a hairdryer that failed a PAT test 12 years ago and hasn’t been replaced, 1 double plug socket a tiny TV with no remote to even turn it on, no hand soap, broken toilet roll holder and no shower screen. The room was beyond basic with a false ceiling and laminate floors, the mattress springs were shot and pillows flat as a pancake, no plug socket by the bed and a FILTHY chair with mould growing in the closet. Got no sleep as I was located right outside a drag bar when the music finally stopped at 1am couldn’t have a wash as the “shower” ran about as fast a fat kid on cake. I can’t comment on breakfast as there wasn’t any Overall not a place you want to visit more than zero times, frankly I’d have rather swapped places with the homeless guy I saw on the street in the morning

An awaful experience, with dust all around the room, we found it hard to sleep. We had booked for 2 nights but left after the first night, it was just too dirty to even think about spending anymore time there.

This hotel was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. On arrival there were homeless people hanging around the reception I’ve nothing against homeless people but the hotel needs to make a decision whether they are a hotel or a homeless shelter you cannot be both. On arrival in the room the room has not been cleaned there was smelly leftover takeaway cartons in the wardrobe, build ups of dirt and mould around the room. The lights beside the bed had been smashed and the live wires were left hanging and exposed basically touching them could have been fatal.The hotel had no bar or restaurant facilities and outside the hotel was particularly seedy. We encountered 2 receptionists one when we checked in who was very helpful when we showed her the state of the room changed us immediately the second room was not much better with bulbs missing in the bathroom again leaving live wires exposed. The receptionists we encountered on departure was nothing short of rude and lazy we explained about the room and the wires she said it was nothing to do with her. This hotel should be shut down immediately until the safety measures have been resolved Expedia shoukd remove this hotel from there listings immediately

Hotel is very convenient for pubs and restaurants and parking is available. Some convenience stores close by and an ALDI within walking distance. It is an old style hotel which needs to be redecorated. Quite a few things not right in my room but only there overnight so didn't ask for them to be fixed. Room cleaners should have checked. Possibly used for temporary residence by council for those in need.

This is not a hotel and expedia need to think about hosting this on their website! We initially chose this hotel because of the cheap prices, but would not pay someone or accept any money to stay here for even one night. Checking in, they need photo ID of everyone staying. The car park has to be bolted and locked along with the front door to the hotel. Walking up to the room on threadbare carpets and very narrow staircases, you are greeted with a strong smell of cigarette smoke and other ordours, as well as clear signs of damp and peeling wallpaper in the entrance hall. Right outside one of the rooms another piece of wallpaper is hanging off the wall. In the room, the bed is unclean and the surrounding room hadn't been cleaned for days. The window and doors didnt shut properly in the bathroom. The sink had a crack the bath/shower hadn't been cleaned in some time. Walking to the other room, past a padlocked fire escape, that had crack and missing panes of glass and a flight of stairs that were "out of order". The second room, at least looked like it had somewhat been cleaned, but largely outdated in decor. After travelling for most of the day, we made the decision to leave as didn't want to spend another minute in the hotel, let alone the 2 nights that we had paid for. After taking evidence, we went down to check out and ask for a refund. Staff told us that we were wrong as the rooms had been cleaned, no apology given or suggestion made to try and resolve the situation.

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever visited. Outside my hotel room there was a massive piece of wallpaper lying on the floor because of the damp wall. The room was filthy and had not been cleaned. I went in the bathroom, the door did not shut, the toilet paper holder was broken, the window did not shut and the shower screen was covered in old soap/shower gel marks. The sink had a massive crack in it too. When I turned the bed down there were massive black lumps in the bed. I went to look at the room for my daughter and it was much the same. The fire escape door had broken glass panels plus a chain wrapped around the handle, next to this was a door with stairs broken do not enter sign. After taking pictures we took a long walk downstairs to be met by, well it has been cleaned! Whatever you do, do not book here for your holiday/break.

Absolutely skank and disgusting i wouldnt send a rat in that building. Stayed here with the family found false nails down side of bed. Cold tap was hot. Towels had stains on. Blood on the walls. Wardrobe fell apart. Dodgy plug socket next to kids bunkbeds.

Hotel bugs were last of my concern. I wouldn't stay there even if someone paid me to. Upon arrival, I was directed to a room that resembled a messy tip. The hotel itself is big, and navigating it feels like wandering through a maze. There are signs that indicate either homeless people sneak in at night to occupy the rooms, as some of the doorframes appear to have been kicked through, or the owners have lost control, allowing people to come and go as they please. Not a single CCTV camera is noticeable around the premises. I felt genuinely scared for my safety in this hotel and couldn't imagine staying a night alone. As a result, I promptly returned the keys and booked another hotel. I lost 150 pounds in total and no refund in sight. I will be contacting relevant organisations as the advertisements for this hotel are a scam

Advertised as a 3-star hotel this is the worst ever hotel we DIDN'T stay in - don't think I would have slept and would have needed to keep clothes and lights on! Hotel smelt, wallpaper hanging off, and that was before we got to the room after being asked for ID!? Cheapest quality bed and linen, stained pillow (actually looked like vomit), broken furniture, sticky floor, dirty bathroom and broken wall lights and no way, even if they worked, of putting them on! Manager sent us picture of switch BEHIND bed, which had to be moved to use! Have since discovered that is basically used for homeless and pictures on site are NOTHING like the actual rooms. Also, even though site says offers breakfast, this isn't true. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Had to find another hotel as could stay.

Great location for where we wanted to go is the only good thing. The room smelled, there was stains on the pillows. And had at least 5-6 bedbugs fall on us while watching tv. Would not recommend to anyone. Not even if desperate for a place to stay. Absolutely disgusting
