George Hotel, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent

BEDBUGS in bed spoke to reception only offered new sheets would not exchange us to a different room. bed bugs returned to the new sheets within minutes lights falling off the wall never would stay again. Very poor service

This place is not a Hotel anymore, as far as I can work out. Local people tell me it is being used as an asylum hostel, and I believe them. We arrived to find every door locked including the car park, the front door has been boarded up and a solid wood door with a Yale type lock is now what greets you. I received a security code by email while I was driving, with a 15 minute self destruct which was of no use at all as apart from expiring, there is no keypad. I am staggered that this is still being marketed by Booking.com as an available hotel, when it clearly is not and I suspect that I will not see my £154.00 paid in advance again. Read all previous reviews, I wish I had,. There is clearly some trick being played here - do not go anywhere near the place.

So me and the missus stayed for a night, to be honest, would've been better off staying in my car..... We're not one to usually post on TripAdvisor but I feel the memory of this hotel will haunt us forever. This is my first ever TripAdvisor post, we stayed here July 2022 for one night and I feel this is the right thing for me to do to post about this awful place. First thing we noticed on arrival was the strong stench of gas on the way to the room, through another room the was a horrendous smell of cigarettes. This was there for the entirety of our stay, and when we asked the receptionist about it, she said it was completely normal.... Secondly, the whole place was filthy and disgusting, I did not feel comfortable staying in such a place, my girlfriend even wanted to just leave and ask for a refund but it was really impractical for us to do so, so we gritted it out for the night and decided to stay. We then proceeded, to a walk around the local park with a nice big pond, which was lovely I must say. On our way, we decided to order a takeaway, when we got back to the hotel it took the night porter 15 minutes to let us in as it was after hours, by this time our takeaway was stone cold. Thank god that TripAdvisor allows one star because fellow countryman who have previously stayed at this awful place would mostly agree with me that this place would warrant a 0 star if it were available for us users.

This is not a hotel. I’m not sure what you’d call it but it’s almost like there was a wedding 25 years ago and after the wedding ended the party left and they’ve reopened it. The dust, unclean threadbare carpet, cans in the plant pots…. I don’t know what else to say and that’s JUST the reception area!!!!! Our room had a used piece of toilet paper on the floor, more pubes around the toilet that I have on my body, a poo stain in the toilet, mould, and the smell matched the decor. The ceiling tiles were loose, the plugs had water damage and ceiling had a lot of damp. We immediately left and the receptionist (who was lovely and possibly deluded) seemed unsurprised. Also - there was a random bulldog in the carpark. The receptionist was super lovely and I can’t stress that more but this place needs CONDEMNED

Just told to pick keys when we arrived not here are the keys to your rooms Skink unclean and cracked Unclean room and bed including bedding Ended up being bitten while asleep

The staff work hard to please. Matthew on the front desk went above and beyond. The hotel is clean but rather tired and in need of redecorating. As a cheap place to stay for a night or two it is ideal

Disappointed wouldnt let me check in as there was no heating or hot water

Poor isnt the word Wouldnt let my dog in it Stayed 1 night out of 3 went elsewhere
