Gilligan's Backpackers Hotel & Resort

I wasn't sure what to expect at Giligan's. I booked the Deluxe Room. It had a King bed and was very spacious. We stayed in two different rooms over 3 nights. They both had a large room, fridge, bathroom and nice balcony. They were very clean and quiet. They are located away from the Disco, so pretty quiet. There is a large backpacking type of crowd. Most of them stay in the hostel style rooms. They are an entertaining group and keep to themselves. Great room for the money.

horrible experience! staff steal things and manage denies responsibility. constant noise from the bar area and hard to sleep till 3am. shower always floods and makes the floor in the hallway slippery and dangerous. plenty of other better places to stay in the CBD

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! staff will steal your things during the day when your out, and then management will deny responsibility. staff in the bar area also make up prices as they feel like, you will get charged different amounts for your drinks and if paying by card they will add cost to it without telling you.

Granted I was staying there with a group and my accommodations were payed for by them, however if I had had the choice I would not have stayed at Gilligan's. Nothing personal but a place like this is for teenagers and college aged backpackers. Not my cup of tea.. I would have loved it if I were still 19 !

As expected the place was a little noisy, but I am a heavy sleeper and that presented no problem. It is spacious and close to many cafes and restaurants and travel places.

It's a backpacker's resort completely geared around partying and getting wasted every night. The rooms are pretty uncomfortable and the random people you'll be sharing them with can be really annoying, but if you're staying at Gilligan's, you really shouldn't expect to spend any time in your room beyond showering and sleeping. Pool was okay, bar is nice but expensive.

Definitely a party hostel but it was much welcomed. The pool area is lovely to relax in during the day and the bar is really fun at night. It's about a 10 minute walk to the marina and some nice restaurants! I wouldn't stay anywhere else when going back.

The room was a terrible mess and didn't look like it had been cleaned for a week. The staff was rude and kept having intern conversations while I was checking in, very unprofessional. The kitchen was not well equipped (no oven for example), dirty and had bugs crawling around. The only good thing was the 24/7 reception and the location.

2 night stay mid week, still great atmosphere. Walking distance to everything you need.

Get stay, tidy rooms. Central to shops, lovely staff Just be willing to here some noise from music at night.
