"Just ok… was expecting a better experience"

Good afternoon, I am writing to share feedback regarding my recent three-night stay from February 13 through February 16 at your resort. First, I would like to commend your staff, who were extremely courteous and helpful throughout our visit. Our room was ready upon arrival, which we greatly appreciated. However, there were several concerns that impacted our overall experience. Housekeeping service was inconsistent. We requested additional pillows but did not receive them until our last night, and only one was delivered after multiple calls. We also discovered blood on the sheets that same evening. In addition, we had to repeatedly request extra towels, and housekeeping only visited our room once during the three-night stay. Another concerning issue was that staff members entered the room without knocking on multiple occasions. This was unexpected and uncomfortable, as standard hotel practice is to knock and wait for a response before entering. Additionally, although checkout is listed as 12:00 PM, someone knocked on our door before 9:00 AM on the day of departure to ask if we were leaving. I found this to be extremely inappropriate and disruptive, especially given that we were well within the stated checkout time. We also experienced difficulties with recreational equipment. The process for using kayaks and sailboats was disorganized and confusing, with long lines and no clear system. Guests were unsure of their place in line, which led to frustration and arguments. For a resort of your size, there did not appear to be enough equipment available. Despite waiting several times during our stay, we were only able to use the kayaks once because everything was consistently checked out. Making reservations for specialty restaurants was also challenging. We were only able to secure a reservation at the steakhouse on our last night. We could not initially get a reservation at Luigi’s, yet when we walked over, the restaurant was approximately 75% empty. After waiting 15–20 minutes, we were seated, and many tables remained unoccupied throughout our meal. This made it unclear why reservations were so difficult to obtain when seating was visibly available. Finally, it was discouraging to see that guests were allowed to reserve pool and beach lounge chairs by placing towels on them and leaving for extended periods. This occurred daily, both by the pool near our room and at the beachfront. Many of the best shaded or oceanfront seats remained unused for long stretches while still being “held.” Most resorts enforce time limits and remove unattended belongings after a period, and implementing a similar policy would make access fairer for all guests. This was my first stay at an RUI resort, and unfortunately, these issues affected my impression. I hope you will consider addressing them to improve future guest experiences. "Absolutely Amazing"

Our second visit and it was amazing. Fantastic staff from check-in, Porters, Entertainment, Bars and restaurants. Couldn’t fault a thing. Room kept spotless and so comfy, everything you need. Food fantastic and so much choice. The entertainment staff really are the life and soul. Loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you to every member of staff we met, all amazing

"2nd Stay at Riu Negril - Great experience!"

The staff was fantastic from the moment we stepped foot on the resort grounds. Ambience, food, entertainment & energy - all exceptional this trip! Staff? We could name everybody but a few stood out. Thio immediately helped with luggage. Casantia at the customer service desk was able to help get us checked in - as we had a first timer this trio. RIU taff was top notch and personable the entire stay. ShanaLee and Shadow from RiuFit were exceptional. Dalton & Jamaine at the pool area bars took great care. There wasn't a bad team member went above and beyond to assure we had a great trip. Only constructive input is the Riu Tropical Palace has the better beach - but we trekked over to Seven Mile Beach and took advantage of the miles of white sand and blue waters. Our plan is to come back soon! Big thanks to RIU Negril

"Fabulous Holiday!"

We just returned from a fabulous week at Riu Negril. Here are our observations: Staff: The staff are outstanding. Housekeeping, bar staff, restaurant servers, everyone was super pleasant. Entertainment: WOW. These guys bring it, all day and night, such infectious energy. They run games on the beach, fun games by the pool and fantastic shows at night. They work so hard, their energy is infectious. It was also amazing to be in Jamaica on Bob Marley's birthday, they had a great show dedicated to him and his music. Shadow, Shaq, Brian, all of them are great. Shanalee is the fitness queen, she is amazing, we loved her! Food: The food was fantastic, we felt spoiled for choice. The buffet was always great, some similar items each meal but always something new so it never felt repetitive. The Sports Bar is great for a mid-afternoon snack of nachos and beer, or for an early morning coffee before breakfast starts at 7. Room: We booked an Oceanfront room, it was in Bldg 2. It was a perfect distance to walk to everything, and far enough that you don't hear the music if you want to turn in early. It looked directly over the beach and the ocean with the incredible sound of the waves with the balcony door open. The bar is always fully stocked and they will put whatever soft drinks you want in your fridge. We left the housekeeping staff a nice tip when we left for all their hard work. Booking Specialty Restaurants: It can be very difficult to get a reservation on the app because they book up so quickly, and you can only book 2 days out. A tip is to stay up until midnight when tables for the following night are available to book. We booked the Steak House and the Italian place Luigi, and enjoyed the Steak House more mostly for the ambiance. If you can only book 1 I would recommend the Steak House. Considering what this country and its people went through only a few months ago, the resort is beautiful as are the people who worked so hard to make our holiday so memorable. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

"Lovely relaxing holiday"

Just back from this hotel and had a fantastic weeks holiday. I am basing my review on cleanliness, comfort, food quality, standards, attention to detail and friendliness of staff and was very impressed with all of the above especially considering the recent hurricane. If I was to be really picky the food in the kulinarium restaurant was quite bland and the lack of a sparkling wine around the property was disappointing but the drinks were of a good quality. If you are looking for a clean, well run, value for money holiday this is the place to go. Thankyou for a wonderful time!

"Not for Handicapped People and poor reservation services!"

Do not select this Hotel if your cane Handicapped Building one is the only Building 1 that access to Services such as meals, Spa, music and tours. Our travel agent requested Building one We were placed in Building 3. On a 1mile cobblestone path, not conducive for walking with Cane After talking to the Hotel manager, he informed us that there is no way he can guarantee Building 1for Handicapped as RIU Negril operates First come First served bases. Not need bases or anyway to guarantee our room I'm on a prepaid vacation. If your travel agent says they can, they have misspoken, it not true. Neither the Hotel or agency can or will guarantee it. "Average kinda expensive holiday"

Transfer is approx 2 hours and unfortunately due to the hurracaine the road are bad full of potholes. The check in was smooth and easy. The rooms are clean and nice but the noise from corridors and adjoining rooms above and side are awful. You hear every footstep and conversation. The resort is clean staff friendly and adequate. Food more like a school Canteen with hit and miss if hot or not. Speciality meals ok. The entertainment staff are amazing but the resort could put on better shows in the evening. The cocktails are awful full of syrup but the bar staff great and do the best with whats available. Do not expect staff serving drinks around the pool or beCh cause it dont exist. An average holiday if your looking for a special holiday id look elsewhere

"Perfect break away"

Just returned from a lovely 11 night break. Check in was smooth and room was huge and immaculately clean. We were in block 4 with a sea view. We ate at the à la carters every night apart from the first night. Food was incredible at breakfast lunch & dinner with huge choice and impeccable service. Drinks were good and the service of all the staff we encountered was excellent. Beach was beautiful although the sea was cloudy due to bad weather and not the clear water I was expecting this didn’t dampen our trip Excellent value for money and would definitely return
