Kata Palm Resort

Great resort! Close enough to the beach whole Also in the middle of so many things to do. Highly recommend!

It was really close to the beach and had a great pool for the hot days

We stayed for a week Xmas day in a room overlooking one of the courtyard pools. It was fine, notwithstanding the patio doors to the balcony were buckled and difficult to close. On day 3 the key card power socket failed and it took 3 requests to get anyone to look, then 2 men over an hour to fix it. This stuff happens ok. Breakfast is very poor, a ropey bun fight at best. Reception staff surly. Rooms were cleaned well. After a mini tour for a week we returned for the last 4 nights of our holiday. We were now in the ‘Royal Blue’ wing and in a superior room. After 10 mins I asked to change my room, the view was non existent, there was little light in the room and an overpowering smell of excrement. If this is superior, what is the level offered to standard class? No rooms available apparently. We went for a beer. We talked. We were not staying in that room. The hotel directly next door showed us a room. It was amazing in comparison. They held it for half an hour for us. We went back to Kata Palm to say we were leaving, checking out and not paying. Suddenly there was another room. Sadly same wing, same view only 2 floors higher. We checked out. At 58 years old this is the first time I have ever refused to stay in a hotel. I will not be back

I was here for a couple of nights in December, their peak season. I stayed in a room with pool access which was amazing. The pool is gorgeous, and I can see that it is cleaned everyday and the gardens are tidied. The view is beautiful. The pool area is quite aesthetic and a great place to come and relax when you are tired of the beach which is nearby. Kata beach is within walkable distance but you can also take the shuttle from the hotel. At night the street is very lively with shops going along the main street. Inside the room it was a bit dated and could do with a refresh. There was black mould stains on the interior decorations like the cushions. There was a bath inside the bathroom I probably wouldn't bathe in. I don't think that the showers are cleaned very well. Not the worst bathroom but also not the shiny hotel room that you would expect in the west. It does the job and is in liveable condition. I can say the water pressure is also fine.

The family room and pool were great. Breakfast was awful.

Beautiful resort! Wonderful stay!

Staff were really tentative about helping us no matter what we wanted to do (ice, banks, places to eat, car hire, etc.). Resort has a great fitness centre, 3 pools and very close to the beach. We did the cooking lessons and had the best Pad Thai, green curry & Tom Yum Goon (3 of us, only 600 Baht each, certificate, apron & cap, and guided by a genuinely great local chef).

Had a great time at this hotel.From the initial check in until we left the staff were all absolutely amazing.Everyone spoke to you everyday including the lovely cleaners who did an amazing job everyday keeping the rooms clean. The pool area was beautiful and got cleaned everyday but you can't help a few flowers falling in the water during the day.We enjoyed both pools and the free beach towels that was a lovely touch. Breakfast was what you expect, we always found something to eat ( some people are super picky) and the coffee was amazing . We did most trips available and loved them all. Keep up the hard work kata palm you were fabulous 😍 Don't believe the negative reviews, just very fussy people who are hard to please....

This hotel was our third hotel we stayed at. We travelled to Bangkok, Khao Lak and then Kata Palm. Great and different good experience at Rembrandt and The Waters hotel but have to say the Kata Palm resort was a disappointment in so many ways. On arrival, the way we were spoken to was totally unacceptable. "Give me your passport" with hand stretched out and fingers wriggling as if to say, hurry up. We were drinking water bought elsewhere and instead of 'Welcome to Kata Palm Resort', we got 'you get one bottle of water a day and by the way, even though you are a party of three (adults) you only get two keys and will have to pay if we lose them. I said we were not going to stay together all the time so receptionist said when we go out leave our key at the desk. We went out after checking in and took our key to reception, they asked why we were leaving the key with them?!?! They also told us that we had a key that needed to be kept in our room as it controlled lighting, air conditioning etc. however, when we left the room we were to take the key with us as if the cleaners took it, we would be charged! This key was simply for the room and would not open the door! I did ask if were going to be welcomed and got a smile and a welcome! The customer service was like I have never seen before. One guest reported the customer service and was sat in with a manager for the longest time. The hotel was very dark, you would not know how bright and sunny outside once you enter. Even the pool, bar and lounge area was dark (loads of greenery). The restaurant was unbelievable, the croissants tasted like they were deep fried in oil. There was only one pan to make omlettes. You had a choice of the omelette however the pan was not cleaned, wiped or changed in any way so those not eating meat, would most definitely have their vegetable omlette with the same oil that made the meat omlette before. The would have a pan with oil (topping up as they go), the ingredients would then go in the oil followed by the egg mixture that was kept nearby. The egg dripping from the container to the pan was just amazing. The oil they add to the pan was way too much. Have had omlettes whenever I go away and have never seen it made like this before - even in the two previous hotels in Thailand. After three weeks in Thailand in three different hotels, I fell sick after day one here and was not able to eat properly again. The taste of oil in my mouth lasted until I got home. Finally saw the rude receptionist being called out by her manager towards the end of the stay. She was in tears and though I can appreciate the manager had to do something about the customer service, doing it in a corner of reception was not appropriate.

The swim up pool was great, but whole kata area is really crowded and you need to get through busy street to get to the beach. As cleanness goes Kids Club was quite dirty and baby chair saw better time so paint was peeling off. Otherwise room and pools were nice and clean. One another issue was door to pool did not close properly and was probably open for long before we came since when we arrived room was already full of mosquitoes
