Johann and Evelyn are fabulous hosts. We so enjoyed the happy hour company, conversation and delicious food. Their warmth and customer service were a huge part of what made our Big Bear family vacation so special.

"Best B&B I've ever stayed at."

10.0

We just left Alpenhorn and we're so sad to leave, but we're also so filled with joy after our visit and we're already longing to come back. We had never been to Big Bear before and didn't know about this place. Now we realize what a perfect choice of bed and breakfast we made. Johann and Evelyn who runs the place and took over it in June we're so welcoming and kind right from the moment we stepped inside the bed and breakfast. Made you feel like you we're visiting friends instead of staying at a hotel/bed and breakfast. We arrived around 5pm and Johann welcomed us with drinks and home made appetizers. Soo good!! The room was so cozy with the fireplace and hot tub and everything was clean and fresh. The breakfast with home made omelet, freshly squeezed orange juice and scones and pumpkin bread baked by Evelyn was amazing. The warmth of the hosts spread among the guest and everyone was having long conversations over breakfast. When we go to Big Bear next time this will definitely be where we'll be staying! This was really something special!

"An amazing stay at a fantastic B&B"

10.0

Upon arrival we were met by Alpenhorn's new owners Johan and Evelyn who have gone to great length to make sure every detail has been taken care to ensure that their guests have a perfect stay. Johan loves to cook and guests are treated to an incredible breakfast served out on the back patio overlooking a park like setting with a running creek. Wine, cheese and Johan's specially made hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon were totally unexpected. We will be back!

"Wonderful Find Right in the Middle of Everything!"

10.0

This lovely Bed and Breakfast has new owners and we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Johann and Evelyn were so kind and welcoming- and they had just taken over the place a week before we came! It was cozy and felt like home, but had wonderful amenities like massage chairs in the living room, spa bathtubs and TVs with Satellite and excellent movie channels. They have a nice selection of games and DVDs to enjoy, or you can bring your own. Johann is the cook and the breakfast was beyond amazing, he has a true talent. The wine and appetizer hour every day was such a delight, it gave us a chance to get to know the other guests and Johann and Evelyn are wonderful company. We even had the opportunity to enjoy the 4th of July fireworks at the lake with them. The Bed and Breakfast is only a short walk to the Village and an even shorter walk to the lake, it's just across the street! The first night we returned after a long day outside and there were fresh baked cookies on our bedside table. In fact they even packed us some for the road when we left! They went above and beyond for my husband and I and we look forward to returning soon.

"Cozy B & B , very good location in Big Bear"

8.0

I was looking for a place to stay for 2 nights over the holiday winter break for my husband , my son and I. Renting a cabin was out of the question because for 3 people is imposible to find something affordable. So i looked for hotels and out of the ones available which were very few I found Alpenhorn. Price was decent considering the time of year and the fact that you get an amazing breakfast and the location is great. Is a very quiet old style place but fill of good stuff, like the jacuzzi in the room and the snacks and movies available. The B & B is targeted toward couples so i was a bit concerned bringing my 4 yr old son but the owner was really nice with him and we tried to keep him as quiet as possible so he wouldnt disturb the other guests. Overall our stay was really good, would recommended.

"great cabin!"

10.0

Heidi's cabin at Alpenhorn was great! Cozy and warm, perfect for hubby, myself and 2 kids! We utilized the kitchen, which was well appointed and there were plenty of towels, pillows, sheets and blankets. Bring your own firewood for the fireplace. Easy reservation, communication, check in and check out. Would definitely stay again!

"Very rude owner, very run down condition!"

2.0

The owner is extremely rude, racist and arrogant. The cottage we rented was extremely run down, dirty and smelt musty. The walls and doors had holes in them. Someone had left their fast food mess in the cottage when we checked in, and the dishes were all chipped and old. There was construction going on on the street and the road damaged our tires and the underside of the car. The employee who checked us in was very sweet and asked us to help ourselves to the snacks, popcorn, DVDs and coffee any time. When we did go in later for a cup of Keurig the door was locked and the owner got very angry and told us to go back to our cottage and drink the coffee there. She said that it was her house and we were not welcome there. We told her maybe it was a misunderstanding on the part of her employee, but she was not open to a calm discussion. We felt humiliated and insulted. She really needs to learn to be polite and respectful. It was one of the worst experiences we have ever had.
