Taman Harum Cottages

Very pretty area, but the bed and bathroom need help. Our room was very close to a bunch of chickens that woke us up at 5am both mornings, also the shower was not the best as it was outside and pretty buggy. Overall, I'm happy we stayed there but I probably would stay somewhere else closer to Ubud center next time.

The hotel staff were the first noticeable thing about my stay, very happy and very accommodating; even with my 2AM arrival time (need to just email them ahead of time to confirm arrival outside of check-in hours). The pool is smaller than it appears, but still a reasonable size for the size of the hotel. There are gardens lining every path and wild finches everywhere in the trees and birdhouses. The restaurant was fine and had a complimentary breakfast that they seem willing to swap certain dishes around for which gives a good amount of options each morning, suck as swapping out the American option of bacon, eggs and toast with pancakes, etc. One negative about the restaurant, you need to be VERY specific about what you order if you wish for any type of change in their menu. For example, I ordered the seafood platter one night and asked for it not to be grilled but fried. So instead of battering the food, they simply put the food into the deep frier. Worst point of my stay, but I could see how under the circumstances it wasn't entirely their fault. Just be thorough with explaining things to the restaurant. The free shuttle service was invaluable, the most I used on one day was three return trips to Ubud centre, which they were more than happy to do. Just be aware that ANYWHERE else, no matter how close to the hotel or in Mas where the hotel is actually located, if outside of Ubud, the price is very high for travel, but still accommodating. All in all, very pleasant.

Well maintained gardens, lovely small pool and religiously clean rooms. 10-15 min drive from Ubud. Nice relaxing "drop out" rooms. Only criticism is they were very slow to clear dishes from the pool or other communal areas

Staff are very lovely and they went above and beyond to accommodate me during my stay. There is a little ginger kitten who hangs out by the pool, I bought him food and water bowls and left some food with the staff and told them to feed him. Please make sure you feed "Whiskas" if you stay here : )

Very nice place with beautiful gardens and art all around. Its 6km from Ubud centre but the hotel arranges free pick up and drop shuttles as and when required.

The photographs of the hotel led me to hope that the gardens and outlooks would be serene and green, and the real thing did not disappoint. As a keen gardener, I found a lot to look at and take notes. There were butterflies and birds and the constant background of trickling water. I loved our rooms, which were colonial style with a mezzanine sleeping area. The stairs were very creaky, and the airconditioner did not seem to crank out as well as I would have liked, but my two teenagers had no complaints. The restaurant was clean and prices were reasonable considering overheads etc, but obviously nothing like street vendor prices. Dinner for three our first night was around $20Australian, which was with just juices and water, no dessert, I thought it pretty reasonable, but did not like the 21% tax added to it. Nothing like that on the streets though. The free breakfast we got was also really good value as we loaded up on carbs with Fried rice or noodles, then hit those shops and galleries. It was really great to have the free driver service to the town of UBUD which we used every day, a saving on taxi or bus fares. Really, the staff from gardeners to cleaners to kitchen and reception were all friendly, kind and most welcoming. I would definitely stay there again. The supermarket across the street was great for replenishing the minibar and all the snacks that ravenous teens could eat, including the seaweed flavoured PRINGLES....try them...they were good.

Lovely friendly & helpful staff. Free taxi shuttle on demand that could take you to ubud central & pick you up again (it's about 15min drive away). Hotel rooms spacious. Wooden floors so slightly creaky. Free mosquito coils provided in the rooms. Nice menu range & cheap. Definitely recommend.
