Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

This was our first experience of safari and we enjoyed every minute. The rangers knowledge and experience was excellent and the hotel which was very expensive was worth every penny. The day was structured around the game drives with time to relax in between. Food was excellent and staff were always on hand if you needed anything. I can,t fault it. We stayed in Tilney Manor which was excellent for couples but I can't comment on the other 2 lodges.

I can’t recommend thie Sanbona experience highly enough. The accommodation in the Dwyka Tented Lodge was simply stunning and the staff were incredibly attentive. Our guide Pascale was both knowledgeable and entertaining and showed us some wildlife experiences we’ll never forget. I hope to come back to South Africa so I can share this magical experience again.

From the service, to the food, to the massive room (Tilney) to the game drives this stay was incredible. And as we were staying for our honeymoon, they did something extra special for us to come back to one evening! We had a two night stay including four game drives and found this length of stay just about right to see most of the animals. Highly recommended for anyone as a great park to access from Cape Town.

I highly suggest a minimum of 2 night stay to enjoy all that beautiful Sanbona has to offer. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. Our ranger Marco was absolutely great, he has an intensely impressive knowledge about all the animals and plants on the reserve. The Dwyka tented lodge surpassed my expectations. Thank you for leaving an indelible mark on our heart, it made our anniversary just perfect.

Amazingly beautiful location, outstanding cuisine and service, and the best Field Guide, Gerhard, whose passion for sharing the flora and fauna of the Reserve was infectious on every game drive. Will definitely be back!

professional, courteous staff, very clean, luxurious, true respect and love for the animals, great service, great food, have nothing negative to say. would love to visit again. small, private feel, just your jeep and the animals, passionate game rangers! Marco was amazing! Just go for it! You won't regret it! 3 hour drive from cape town.

The tents were amazing. This luxury hotel rooms were the perfect complement for an incredible safari adventure.

We loved our two days at Dwyka Lodge. The food was very good with an acceptable variety. The staff were very attentive with a special shout-out to our waiter Julio! While the alcohol at lunch and dinner is not included, the prices were reasonable - NOT resort-like, which is appreciated. We took four safari rides with Marco and he was phenomenal. He's very knowledgeable and does everything possible to ensure an amazing experience is had by all. He was patient in answering questions, and excellent at spotting animals - as one would expect. Each "tent"/cabin is very spacious and you feel very excluded. I have two areas for improvement. The first is that the welcome lounge is a VERY SLOW ride of ~15 KM inside the main gate and its at best semi-paved road so we spent most of the time thinking we missed the welcome lounge and worrying we were voiding our rental car agreement. Moving the lounge to the entrance seems a better route to go. [The lounge is basically tea or coffee and a toilet so don;t arrive too early.] Second, in between the safari rides there is literally nothing to do- no tv in the rooms and very spotty internet. A small pool would go a long way. [Each room has its own hot tub though.] That stated, for a two night stay it is fine and we intend to include this in our encore tour!

What a memorable stay that was. Wonderful hospitality, superb food, very plush and comfortable room / bed and the game drives / animals seen amazing. All in all a superb team / experience.

This place is amazing! The resort is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The resort is peaceful and set on the amazing reserve. Our room was spotless and our back patio was set on the reserve. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful with great shower heads-but be mindful-there are water restrictions ongoing. Our guide went out of his way to ensure that we saw amazing animal interactions. In the evening when we returned from our evening drive, there was a huge dinner by bonfire and some star gazing. Everything went smoothly and the communication was excellent. I am so glad that we chose to stay here and would recommend this to anyone who loves beauty and animals.
