Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas - All Inclusive

This was our fourth time staying at this resort. We took our 8 year old grand daughter. The RIU child land is too young for her and all the fun things are for older. It would be nice to have something in between those ages. Pool parties for kids earlier. We had three nights of girlfriends and boyfriend or husband/wife arguing by our rooms late at night. Late at night. Dress code is very confusing. My grand daughter had her towel around her neck and she was not allowed in lunch buffet. Not sure why. But others have inappropriate swim suits on while we were eating. More skin showing then material on. Very dark at night by beach. We had great service with Daniel, Blanca, Iris and Irma. Herman, the bell hop was very helpful and a great guy also. It was hard to leave them.! There is so many options at the buffets that if you can’t find something to eat maybe all inclusive isn’t for you. We did not wait to try speciality restaurants as we had our grand child with us. Great time

Location, view, pool

I have travelled around the world but have never been so disappointed with my vacation. We only stayed at Riu Palace for 3 nights and both my husband and I got food poisoning. We only ate the hotel! And we’re both sick on the 3rd day! Good thing I had a medication to get us through it so we could get back home. Otherwise would have to spend $300+ per person on their doctor. At the breakfast we saw staff dropping cooking utensils while making eggs and then picking them right back up and continue cooking. Lunch is 10-5pm and all the food is siting there open on that heat. No ice even for yoghurts (all in one big bowl) and cold meats. We saw flies on the food as well. People put their hands on food or throw utensils on food after serving themselves. There was a family of cockroaches on our room. It was hard to get rest at night because music kept boasting till 11pm. Never again! The only positives are welcoming staff, great views, 2 giant pools that were not full since we went during the week after a big holiday.

Lage

Zimmer wurde nicht gereinigt obwohl wir das Schild Zimmer aufräumen an der Türe angebracht haben. Eine Beanstandung beim Manager hatte kein Erfolg und keine Einsicht.

Once again RIU has done a great job of providing a quality vacation. The room was excellent as always, we were upgraded to a corner room and the view was amazing. The food was great as always, the buffet has so many offerings that we rarely need to go anywhere else. The Steakhouse was good, the Italian restaurant was good. The poolside entertainment and drinks as well as the server are absolutely amazing. We continue to love the pool environment. The one thing that I think they could improve on is the nightly entertainment., It seems to be the same thing every year, and would be nice to see some new entertainment there, Overall, still a great place to spend a week on vacation,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the resort. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. For the spirits in the room, we have preferred whiskey vs gin. All of the staff and service were friendly, talkative and accommodating. The La Ventana bar has the best views, however, wish there was some light music playing while chatting and meeting other patrons. We truly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Pros: buffet, friendly staff, cold AC, spacious rooms, cold pools, super clean, easy airport transfer included, tacos near the pool Cons: steakhouse, alcoholic drinks (just ok), pools need renovation Just returned from a 5 night stay. The included airport transfer was easy (be sure to READ the email and follow the directions) both coming and going. Checking in was quick- we had two connecting rooms. We had to wait a bit for one room, but not too long. AC worked very well to keep the room nice and cold and housekeeping was excellent. The rooms are spacious and clean. Every single one of the staff members we had contact with were very kind. This resort is also very clean- even the common area bathrooms near the pools were spotless. We ate mostly at the buffet (we were off resort for two days). The buffet had great variety and my daughter loved being able to try all of the Mexican candy! The seafood on the buffet was very good, as was the tortilla soup on Mexican night. A light salad dressing option like a Vinegarette would be nice to have- all the dressings are creamy or high in oil content. The cappuccino cafe and lounge have quick things to grab if you are headed out for the day. We had pastries for breakfast before we headed out for fishing one day. The poolside food was good, especially the tacos. Alcoholic drinks were just ok. This is a Pepsi resort if that matters to you. I missed my Coke Zero. We were disappointed in the steakhouse. There is no bar, so the waiter will not bring you a drink except for wine. Three out of four steaks were overcooked and had very little flavor and the shrimp tasted and looked like it had been frozen and thawed more than once. It was a terrible texture and had zero seasoning or flavor. The only good thing were the potato wedges, which you can also get at the buffet. My salad was warm and the crab cakes were fake and inedible. The steakhouse is usually the shining star of these types of resorts, so we decided to just stick with the buffet for dinner after that experience. The layout of the resort is also such that people walking from one pool to the other side will often walk through either the buffet area or the steakhouse (which doubles as the buffet during some meals), which is very, very odd. Having people walk through in dripping wet swimsuits while eating a “nice” dinner is not ideal. The pools were nice and cool and drink service there was excellent. The pools are definitely showing their age with missing tiles, rust, stained bottom, etc. They definitely need a touch up or complete renovation.

Had an amazing grad trip for my daughter and her best friend! Loved the pool bar and servers! Wish there was a sit down breakfast option instead of just the buffet, but overall would absolutely go back!
