"More like a half way house!!"

2.0

I stayed here for one night prior to attending a show. I honestly can say I have never felt so unsafe staying in a "hotel". Let's start with the rooms ...very basic (which didn't bother me as only there for one night) but very outdated and smelt old. The bathroom had lots of cracks and a very noisy toilet. The beds were not the most comfortable and creaked with every little movement. When I arrived I decided to order some food to pick up outside in the hotel car park, when I went to collect the food from someone who asked if I was waiting for a delivery, to not be handed my kebab that I was waiting for but a bag of drugs!!! The guy shot off very quickly when I said no I was here for a kebab ( yes it sounds funny, but at the time as a single female, it scared the life out of me). Back in the room with the doors firmly locked, the people next to me were in and out of their room smoking weed outside their room and making a lot of noise. The walls are so thin you could of sworn they were in the same room as me. At first I wasn't bothered by the noise or the smell but then what sound like a massive group of people came and were so loud and more weed was being smoked and the smell was absolutely unbelievable. This went on until the early hours of the morning and finally someone from the hotel (which I had no idea anyone was even around or that you could contact someone if there was a problem) came and threw them out. As a parting gesture these lovely people smashed the fire alarm system, causing it to mal-function so every time it was reset it went off again. So after standing on the balcony with other people staying there for what seemed like a very long time it was finally sorted. I can honestly say, I will never ever stay at this "hotel", hostel, halfway house again and I would strongly advise anyone thinking of staying here, pay a little more extra and stay somewhere else!

"Awful"

2.0

Truly awful. Stayed here for two nights. Cheapest in the area but not even worth the money I paid for it. Rooms very rundown, smell of smoke. WiFi which you have to pay for is very unreliable. My main issue is the noise. My room was connected to adjacent room with two doors that locked on either side. (My lock very insecure) means the noise from the TV next door is Extremely loud. Pay the extra money and go somewhere decent.

"Wouldn't Let My Wife Stay On Her Own!"

2.0

Firstly, this is a Motel, not a hotel. It's one of those French style places that has the minimal of everything, and want to charge you for everything else. The stay was definitely uncomfortable. I made the decision due to how near it was to something I was going to. I didn't feel I could leave any valuables in the room at any time, even if I was going to breakfast, which is in the main reception area, separate from the rooms - Motel style. The condition of the bathroom was "tired" to say the least. I had dried red liquid on the edge of my bath, and I didn't know if it was blood or what... Because they run minimal "everything" it took ages to get booked in, and other "guests" who wanted to buy something couldn't, as the person on reception was dealing with me... so their level of frustration grew the longer it took. The room was clean, and very very basic. Only had 2 plugs, after I unplugged the room kettle. No plug beside the bed, so wasn't able to charge my phone at night, and I didn't want to leave it right at the window, as I didn't know what could happen... I know my wife wouldn't feel safe there. I just about felt safe myself. A woman at breakfast didn't get to sleep til 2.30am on Sat night due to the noise around the place (it's beside a McDonalds drive thru) and it felt like a ghetto to her, which isn't far off the reality. There are other hotels within 2 mins drive that I would highly recommend to stay at as I definitely won't be staying there again.

"VERY UNSAFE MOTEL - NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN"

2.0

This place was a nightmare! I presume this is being used as a halfway house by the council as there were what appeared to be active drug deals taking place, a constant smell of weed and groups of drunk men constantly hanging around on the shared balcony As a single female I felt incredibly unsafe, I shut the door to the room, (couldn’t lock it as the internal lock was broken ) closed the curtains ( as you can see straight into the room from the balcony ) and hoped to god I didn’t get attacked ! The room smelt very bad, the bathroom tiles were dirty, the floor had not been cleaned and the interior was not fit for purpose ! The double bed was two small singles held together badly so the bed made a v shape and sank down in the middle. I found a large bug running across the floor, the internal lock on the door did not work and the chain was missing. I was meant to stay for a week for business but checked out early and chose to commute 2 hours each way instead as I was so miserable! I later spoke with a male work colleague who said he left 20 minutes after checking in. How they have the gall to charge £60 a night is beyond me. Don’t waste your time or money and certainly don’t risk your safety by staying here.

the bath is so high i nearly fell when coming out of it, breakfast was a big let down with only 1 sausage, 1 bacon ( so rubbery) scrambled eggs( would have like the choose of fried or pouched) hash brown and beans, felt like it was not enough i dont eat anything else and was a big let down for the price of it, the room was ok but would not go back if i was down that end of the country would look for somewhere else

"Close to hospital"

4.0

Within 30 minutes walk to the hospital you would think it's ideal and it was for the first of my wife's 2 stays. It pains me to discredit this hotel as the staff ( Ellie and Alan) are really nice people. The first visit was ok, the second visit however resulted in my wife driving home some 60 miles at 3 in the morning because of the clients using the place not what it was intended, I will say no more but it was not pleasant nor expected. My apologies to the staff for this review and to anyone who is offended by it BUT such behaviour is not good for reputation and management should warn clients it will not be tolerated. Our thanks to Ellie and Alan for putting the matter right.
