"Clean and appealing outside. Disappointment inside"

Bathroom should be gutted and redone. O.K. if you just want to sleep and move on. Quiet neighbor hood and safe.

"Our Experience"

4.0

First, the Refrigerator had no shelves in it so it did not hold very much and things kept falling out and the door would not stay shut. Secondly, there was not that much water pressure in the bath room or bedroom vanity sink. The swimming pool was shut down so no one could swim or lay out to tan. Thirdly, the batteries in the tv remote were dead and even when we took the remote back to get new batteries, the "new batteries" did not work well. Fourthly, we were asked to park on the other side of the parking lot away from our door because a Contractor with a huge trailer was allowed to park triple spaces, and parking spaces were limited. 5th, the plastic keys kept malfunctioning and so we had to keep taking them into the office to re-program them. Lastly, they let anyone and everyone ring our room without knowing them or asking them if they knew us or not. Lastly, the rug did not look all that clean, there was a bulb missing in one of the lamps and we were not sure if the smoke detector worked or not because it looked worn out. Also it was supposed to be a Non Smoking room but it clearly smelled of tobacco smoke when we came into the room, and the air was turned off so the room was hot and the refrigerator had just been turned on so it was not all that cool at the beginning. The lady there was really nice but the man there was kind of rude.

"Not a happy camper!"

4.0

The hotel claimed they never got my reservation, I booked a king and they sold out of it before I got there and then put me in a double. Then she claimed she forgot to run my card and needed me to come to the office for her to put it in the system and then she did not give me my card back. I did not realize that she didnt give it back to me for like 3 hours and then I called back to the hotel because I was out and about and she said oh yeah I have your card. I was going to let you get some rest and not disturb you and would have given it to you in the morning and then I was not due to check out until Sunday but they deactivated my room key on Saturday. Needless to say I was not a happy camper and the guy at the desk trusted to tell me that it was no big deal...REALLY!

"Drugs , Bugs, and a Needle"

2.0

I hate to give a negative review to any place. I have thought about this for a few days. After talking with family I have decided to write a review of my experience staying at Express Inn and Suites. I wouldn't feel right f I didn't. So here goes. On a trip to Destin to visit my daughter in law and son my wife and I booked a room at Express Inn and Suites thru Hotwire. We have had good luck with Hotwire in the past with using their rating system. Express Inn and Suites was only priced at 37 a night and had a 90 % approval, rating. I should have known better. My dad taught me better than this. 99 percent of the time you get what you pay for. Well it was late, we were just going to sleep a few hours, get up and be back on the road so we booked the room. We arrived around midnight , got our key and went to our room with one king size bed. We opened the door and the smell of body odor and old stale smoke and filth rolled out f the room. I looked at her, she looked at me. "Oh what the heck we are just staying to sleep a few hours then leave". Went back to the car and grabbed a few things. We didn't grab everything due to the condition and lack of cleanliness of the room. There were dead flies on the night stand, stains on the couch. The sheets looked worn and old. I just hoped they were clean. They didn't look it. There was no way I was going to se the bed spread comforter. One word FILTH. Well now it is time to do the old bed bug check. Looked around the mattress lifted up the mattress and there it was a HYPODERMIC NEEDLE. Called Hotwire and went to the front desk. Told the night manager and his daughter that we cannot stay in this room. He did offer another room. We declined. He was very nice and polite and sorry about the needle being found under the mattress and offered up many reasons why it could have been there. I really couldn't give two as to why the hypodermic needle was there. Employee using the room to shoot up? Traveling drug user left it under there or forgot it? Or a secret stash for the secret society of needle sharing diabetics. Even tho the room was nasty, dirty and stunk. I still think we would have stayed here for the night due to us both being penny pinchers.I have to say the needle sent us both over the edge. Dad, you were right "you get what you pay for". I'm just lucky I didn't get hepatitis or AIDS for $37 dollars. My advice don't stay here.

"Good price, Good hotel"

8.0

Check in and out was simple. The sink and some around the tub could have been a little cleaner and the sheets had a weird smell but the air was off when we arrived. The price was good and a good location that was close to many places.

"Overnight stay, Permanent residence for some"

6.0

Slightly off the beaten path. Stayed on way to PCB Florida. Rooms were ok, but priced accordingly. Hotel clerk was unfamiliar with the town and had no dinner recommendations having only lived in Hartselle for six months ???. It appeared that a portion of rooms were permanent guests. Offered breakfast but we passed... Pool wasn't yet opened (in May).

"Cute units, very clean!"

10.0

Very attractive exterior units resemble a "Santa Fe" motif. The rooms are very clean and sufficiently modern. The area is extremely safe and quiet. The motel is only about 3 miles from Interstate 65 which is great. The staff seems friendly enough. Perfect place to stay that is affordable clean and safe which is very hard to find in Alabama!

"Fine Hotel For an Overnight Stay"

8.0

I would have given this hotel a 3.5 rating if I could have since I would have rated it "Good" if that category existed. Sometimes it's nice to stay in an older, ma and pa type hotel. This one is a nice one. Our room was basic, nothing at all fancy, but perfect for an overnight stay. The hotel is not far from I-65 but far enough we heard no traffic noise. It was close to an awesome BBQ place, the Pig Stand, which I also reviewed. What more can you ask for in the South? The hotel had been decently updated and had many of the same amenities as a large chain hotel such as a microwave and fridge (both clean), coffee service. My downgrade to "Good" is because one set of hand towels/washcloths were dirty...really gross. Maybe they had been washed and the stains didn't come out, but I sure didn't want to use them as they were. Additionally, a bar of soap was left on the soap holder in the shower begging the question of how well the bathroom area was cleaned. It appeared clean, but... Anyway, I laid the towel and washcloth out and wrote a note with my concerns. I'm sure it won't happen again as I read the reviews on this motel prior to staying there and could see the owners are very responsive to patron concerns. We didn't eat breakfast there and the pool was closed so no comment on that. Anyway, I'd stay there again. I'd just make sure the towels were clean.
