Excellence Riviera Cancun - Adults Only All Inclusive

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful week at Excellence Riviera Cancun. A first high point was the consistently friendly and excellent service (special mention to Josias at check-in, Fernando at the Mexican feast experience at Agave (so good at explaining and recommending for a delightful meal), Fernanda providing bar service on the beach (checking regularly, remembering past orders, always with a smile), Cristina in reservations for accommodating a request for a future reservation, and Walton at breakfast (who also remembered special requests!). A second high point was the plentiful availability of palapas, chaise lounges, and towels, both at the beach and by more out-of-the-way pools. A third high point was the excellent food (we ate at a different restaurant every night). The Grill steak restaurant was the only one that was somewhat disappointing - my wife's ribeye was fairly good, but mine was pretty bad by American standards. Stick with seafood, which was excellent across all the other restaurants! A fourth high point was the thoroughness of cleaning (rooms, lavatories, bars and restaurants) and immaculate landscape maintenance. We enjoyed the more tropical and Mexican colonial atmosphere here over the environment at Beloved a few years ago. We enjoyed seeing coatis (none of that at Beloved!). The beach is much quieter and more relaxed than at Beloved. And this resort is much better set up for theater and music performances than Beloved was. The entertainment was generally good here. However, the downside of the beach being quieter than Beloved is that there's relatively little going on (not much in the way of cooking classes, cocktail classes, paella on the beach, etc.). We ordered flowers for our room for the day of arrival and were very pleased that they still looked good a week later - that's unusual for roses! While everything is well cared for, the resort is showing some age and a little refurbishing would be good. For example, the sliding doors to the ocean-facing balconies in our room (7257) rattled and whistled with the wind even fully closed (you could actually see the curtain billowing gently!). Something else that we've appreciated at other resorts and would like to see here - wristbands that double as room key - no need to keep track of key cards. But we do appreciate that reservations are not required for the restaurants and there is no timeshare push. All in all, a wonderful experience, and we look forward to returning!

The location was pretty. The room was clean and nice. The only issue would be the food; not great with the exception of the excellence club restaurant. Reservation making was confusing depending on who you spoke with. Everything shuts down at 11; so it’s not a big party feel.

Many people return to the same resort, over and over, for good reasons: staff is exceptional, food and drinks are delicious. During winter, the heated pool is much appreciated in the Excellence section. Gardens are beautiful and the jogging trail offers a great opportunity for a nice walk. Lots of birds. The resort is conveniently located, close to the airport and on a wide part of the beach. The gym is a bit small, not enough floor space for HIIT training.

My husband and I had a beautiful stay at Excellence Riviera Cancún this past week. It was our 5th time staying at the resort and it is consistently a dream- the service, the food, and the grounds are all exceptional. Javier (who took us to our room) talked with us about all different kinds of authentic Mexican cuisine (we’re from NYC and he shared some dishes that were new to us!) and got us keeping eye out for new items to try. Fernanda provides the best cocktail service on the beach- always keeping our glasses filled. The restaurants are all excellent- but our favorite is always the special menu at Agave featuring specialties from a specific region of Mexico. We watched sunrise on the beach every morning and enjoyed our in suite jacuzzi at night. 10 out of 10. :)

We just left a glorious week at this resort. It was remarkably clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious! We booked Excellence Club Ocean View room and the views were fantastic and worth the upgrade. Staff - Diana and Angelo were the best entertainers! Pool blackjack, arts and crafts and Bingo were good.for daily laughs. Joel, our pool concierge was always attentive and helpful for everything we needed. Ivan, our pool waiter, never let our bellies or glasses get empty!! We've now stayed at 3 different Excellence Resorts and this was by far our favorite. We will most definitely return! Excellence Riviera Maya is visually beautiful, offers wonderful cuisine in its many restaurants and outstanding personalized service by its staff. We have returned year over year for these reasons. Special mention to Misael, Elena, Rodolpho and Neri for going the extra mile to make out stay memorable.

Always outstanding service. The property is impeccably clean at all times. So many wonderful places to dine and eat you don't get bored. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time with our friends at the Excellence Resort. The resort was beautiful and well maintained. Service was amazing on the beach and at the restaurants. There were always chairs and umbrellas for myself and 15 others to sit on the beach. Marco served us on the beach and was the BEST! We wished he would have worked all the days we were there. Our room was nice and well maintained. The only issue we had was the dampness within our room. The air condition seemed to work well, but because it was so humid in the room. Everything felt wet for the full 6 days. You need to be aware that there was always a wait to eat at the restaurants and not all restaurants allow for reservations. It wasn’t a problem most nights and we were able to got drink and enjoy friends before eating. Most of the food was delicious. Night life ended at 11pm each night. Water sports were close to being nonexistent. Husband and I went to paddle board and we were told most of the boards were broken. We road bikes with Angelo and had the best time visiting a town close by. Overall the resort was amazing and I would return.

We would recommend Excellence Riviera Cancun to anyone! We stayed for 6 days and were so sad to leave. First and foremost, we got engaged here!! The resort went above and beyond to make us feel special on our engagement day. My fiance worked with Regina at the photo studio to setup a private photo shoot for us and she was FANTASTIC! The manager of the resort personally called us and got us a special table (with candles and a flower) at the restaurant of our choosing for dinner. Once we got back to our room, they had surprised us with a special setup of rose petals and a "she said yes" dessert. They made our day so special and I couldn't speak more highly of the level of service they provided. Room - very spacious, we got the regular jr suite. We were in building 4 on the top floor and had no issues with noise. The minibar was restocked everyday and the housekeeping kept our room tidy. Grounds - BEAUTIFUL! A lot of trees/greenery/plants. Everything is within a 5-7 minute walk so its very easy to navigate. The beach had the most powdery soft sand and plenty of palapas to lounge under. We were able to swim in the ocean the first couple of days but the back half of our trip there were more weeds. They do their best to clear the beaches but something to keep in mind if you go during this time of year. Food - exceeded our expectations for an all inclusive resort. Our favorite spots were Chez Isabelle (french restaurant) and Spice (Asian restaurant). I have Celiac Disease so I need to eat gluten free. Each time we checked into a restaurant, they noted any allergies and made the waiter aware. Things are marked on the menu as gluten free, but they sometimes had options for me that weren't on the menu (most of the desserts they made special for me). The breakfast buffet had a section in the back with a variety of gluten free breads. I was so nervous about going to an all inclusive with a gluten free diet but they did a fantastic job. Drinks - we thought the drinks were great. Not too strong and not too weak. When you tip the bartenders they definitely remember you and will prepare your drinks accordingly :) Entertainment - on their app, you can view the schedule of activities for the day. This ranged from pickle ball to beach competitions to live music by the pool. Whether you need constant activities to avoid boredom or if you just want to lounge around all day doing nothing, this resort has you covered. The night shows were SO entertaining. Definitely check out the silent disco, that was our favorite Overall vibe - we were definitely one of the younger couples at the resort (mid twenties). The crowd skews older and more calm, which we loved. All activities are done by 11pm so theres no late party scene if that's what you are after.
