Clean beautiful building, staff is unbelievable!

We apparently booked a room in the newer building across the street from the Victorian building. Though I was surprised we thought since it had an elevator it might be easier. It was and our room was spacious, however like the lobby it was completely bland, no sense of thought was put into either space. Everything was painted the same color from trim work to walls to furniture except the ugly peel and stick floor squares. We were truly surprised by its complete lack of decor. A few years ago we had stayed in the Victorian building across the street and it had been cute and comfortable. Not sure we’d stay again because it’s not inexpensive and compared to so many other beautiful places we’ve stayed it’s far from the mark.

Everyone was so attuned to making a great guest experience! We were so impressed. There's even a generous wine and cheese reception every evening. They kept coming around with the bottles of red and white and the pours were generous. The room was large, clean and well appointed. With a gas fireplace!

The whole place is warm and welcoming. The rooms are comfy and high quality. The staff was very understanding of my chihuahua's disposition--they even brought him bacon for breakfast! I felt that they wanted both my dog and myself to feel welcome. Definitely glad I came here!

We love the Carter House Inn for many reasons. Wonderful ambiance! Not a chain hotel. Charming Rooms, great beds, lovely linnens. Breakfast is included and it is ample and very good. The staff- simply the best. We have stayed at the Carter House several times in the last couple of years, always polite and kind staff. Troy, one of the front desk employees, so nice and patient. The bar- simply must visit! Let the bar tender tell you about a very special feature!!

Beautiful buildings and friendly staff.

We had an amazing time at the Carter House! The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was great! My wife became ill at the end of the trip, and the staff was amazing and caring towards her, helping her to be comfortable until we could travel again. Awesome inn and staff, I can't recommend highly enough!

The social scene in the lobby, bar, & restaurant on a Friday night was a pleasant surprise. The stay was excellent but the managment and staff were outstanding.

Average at best. Our room was freezing. No additional bedding for warmth. Sheets were subpar and the mattress was uncomfortable.
