Metropark Hotel Shenzhen

The best thing about this hotel was the subway station beneath it. The staff was mostly helpful, but spoke no English (fine for me) that I could detect. Plenty of little breakfast stalls right outside, and a convenient subway ride to everywhere we wanted to go. Requested 1 queen bed, got 2 twins, which made a difference in our comfort, but it was OK.

It was good . I have been staying here most of the time when in Shenzhen.

Great Stay

I got an upgrade --still not sure why-- so the room was pretty big and quite good. The bathroom below average. Breakfast fine, average I would say. The location is good, less than 5 minutes away from a subway station I did not use and with plenty of restaurants, convinience stores and shops around. Very lively. Not a great hotel but fine for a business trip.

The hotel is conveniently located right above the subway station, but our room was in need of major renovation: 1) Even though the room (and the whole floor) is deemed "non-smoking," we could constantly smell cigarette smoke. We actually had to turn off the AC and open the window on the second night to avoid the smoky smell. The ventilation and air filter system need a major upgrade. 2) The bathroom wall was moldy. 3) The bathroom counter had cracks. 3) The carpet was covered with stains.

This hotel is ideally located above MRT, near to shopping area and good food. The guest rooms are big. There is room for improvement on services. Two female reception staff we approached on different days when we enquired about tourist attractions had limited knowledge on the subject. At the end, one male staff appeared to be more knowledgeable. Our reports to rectify room issues took some hours for housekeeping staff to show up. I think there is no bell boy services, we carried our luggage when checking in and out. The two male staff stationed at the hotel appeared to be doing merely security services, they did not help even we were trying to get taxi coming to the hotel entrance to pick us.

Good value for the price. The hotel has a fitness center and the room has a separate sitting area adjacent to the bedroom and a small kitchen (but without a microwave). The hotel is in a lively neighborhood and next to a metro station.

We visited from Canada. The location is great. It is above the train station and walking distance to Dongmen Shopping Street. There are so much food around that we didn’t have enough time to try everything. The hotel was clean but I would not stay again due to the smell of cigarettes. Although I asked for a non-smoking room, the room next door was full of heavy smokers that the smell went through the wall. The room was big with a living room area and a mini kitchen. I wouldn’t consider this a 4 star hotel according to Canadian standards.
