Homm Souvannaphoum Luang Prabang, part of Banyan Group

My wife and I (we are over 70) liked the hotel for its calm and relaxed atmosphere. We didn't see too many young people around, which was fine. From the terrace we could see the excellent pool and the rich vegetation. The breakfast was tasty and provided both oriental and western dishes.

Great room, large, and a cozy bed. Breakfast very good and staff absolutely fantastic. A beautiful hotel and well located.

This review could have been a 6 or a 7 if I had stayed in the room I was given at first. The hotel has two buildings. One that has rooms closer to the street (more noisy) and others in the main building by the pool, more quiet. I was lucky to swap rooms to a quiet one, therefore a 9 rating. Could have been 10 if the pool area and flooring would feel a bit more fresh and renovated. Nice place overall, though not sure if I'd go back.

The staff at Homm were outstanding on all fronts. Friendly, warm and very efficient. We loved the breakfast selection and setting.

The bathroom was a little small but it didn’t really matter

This is only a few minutes from the centre of town and looks lovely, with a pretty garden and nice pool. But pretty much everything else was a disaster. Not an adjective I used often. For a start we were given the wrong room, despite the Manager himself showing us to our room. Our daughter was given the superior room, so we had to swap rooms and all our unpacked luggage later Our first (and only dinner) was a Fiasco. I ordered a Carbonara and my husband and daughter ordered dishes involving fried rice. This was clearly a big ask. My Carbonara came quickly, so I ate it. I had long finished when my daughters meat arrived, but still no rice. Some 20 minutes later her rice arrived, but by now her meat was cold. I went to bed and my husband's rice dish took an hour to come !!! The waiter also tried to chill the red wine in an ice bucket ! The waitstaff were friendly and willing but it was all VERY disorganized. Breakfast was no better the following day and from then on we ate out for the rest of our stay. Such a shame !

I can’t imagine a more gracious and welcoming hotel than Souvannaphoum. This was our fifth stay here in five years. We love the tranquil gardens, the superb guest rooms with balconies overlooking the gardens, and breakfast on the terrace by the pool. Also the location couldn’t be better, in a quiet neighborhood just a 15-minute walk from the main market The hotel is small (20 guest rooms) and service is professional yet also warm. High fives to Suphot, the hotel manager, and Channaly, the reservations manager. I had a medical emergency (a fall that resulted in a broken ankle) and they were super attentive, even accompanying us to the airport for our flight home to make sure all the wheelchair arrangements were correct. Very impressive!! I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

Fantastic historic French colonial style hotel in this famous UNESCO world heritage site and ideally situated at the south-western end of Sisavangvong road to give you easy walking or cycling access to the heritage districts of Vat Nong and Xieng Mouane. Formerly the home of Prince Souvanna Phouma, the hotel has spacious and comfortable rooms set in tropical gardens. The staff are wonderful and only too happy to satisfy any requests - special mention to Khampan who looked after us from start to finish. I would highly recommend this hotel - I didn't want to leave.

It was in a perfect location for most of the attractions in Luang Prabang (only needed a taxi for the Kuang si waterfalls) the hotel was beautifully kept, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The gardens were well looked after and after a morning sightseeing it was great to cool off in the wonderful pool. An old palace of the Prince that has been lovingly converted to a great hotel!
