"Clean room however not worth a return trip"

Rooms were clean

Staff seemed like they could care less to help you at front desk and were a bit rude while attempting to check in, breakfast was almost non existent and employee there was randomly telling people about her health issues making it very uncomfortable. Bar was never open even those it had posted hours.

Came with my Sister to see her Son. This is a very nice place to stay, close to shops & restaurants. Staff was friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Facilities nice but seemed somewhat unfinished. Good room floor plan, nice bathroom. Clean. Good location. Seemed quiet. Good bed and pillows.

Amenities (bar, breakfast room) seemed unfinished. No decaf coffee. TV did not work, but staff came and rebooted it. Bar was not open. Breakfast was minimal.

"Not able to give a facility review"

I called this a "terrible" stay because trip review's website makes the assumption that I actually got to stay there. In truth, I did not. I booked this hotel and wanted to stay in early February but coming from Reno means going over the mountains and a massive storm was forecast to close the mountain pass. As such, I waited a bit to see if the forecast would change and ended up calling them the day before and asking to cancel my reservation since the forecast remained the same. My mistake! I didn't read the paperwork and they had a 48 hour cancellation clause which I was now inside of so technically had to pay for the first night stay no matter what. It was my fault and I admit it but asked to talk to the manager anyway since after nearly 4000 nights in hotels during my work career I have never encountered a manager who wouldn't offer to help at least a little. Outright cancellation was my preference but I would have been happy to keep it but move the date. Or maybe get a food/bev credit when I finally did come back. The front desk simply said "NO" they couldn't help me. I could send an email to the front desk and they would pass it along to management for review. So, I did that and I called the next day to be sure it was received. It was they said. I figured I'd hear something that afternoon but that didn't happen. I called again the next day and gave my phone number and asked the manager to call at his/her convenience. No call. After about a week I called the Choice Hotels customer service line and filed a complaint. They promised to contact hotel management and ask them to respond to me. No call back. I tried a second time with Choice about 2 weeks later with no further result. I called the hotel three times. Emailed once. Called Choice twice. They kept my money, which I expected. BUT I checked my Choice account and they didn't even award me the points for the money spent. They needed no labor to check me in, no labor to check me out and no labor to clean the room but still kept the money and did not award points. The Choice person I talked to said that was "policy" as I was a "no show." Well NO DUH I was a no show. There was a blizzard and I tried to be proactive ahead of time but was a half day late due to the 48 hour cancel period. So, when I say I did not stay it was true and as such, I cannot offer a review of the facility. I can offer a review of management which is sad to say, not responsive. I come to Sutter Creek 6-8 times a year and have done so for the past 20 years. I made that point too and it was ignored. Too bad. I liked the previous place and was hoping to try the new "Kiota Inn" but I have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth so will go back to one of the other places in town.
