Crown Beach Resort & Spa

The property is really overdue for renovation, very run down. The food was bad, the staff weren’t friendly. This is very overpriced.

We stayed at the Crown resort for one night as we were heading to Aitutaki the next morning. We booked two beachfront villas and they had lovely water views from the balconies. The location to the airport is excellent an easy 10 minutes drive. Our experience was ordinary as the resort needs an update. The villa was very spacious and comfortable and clean. The restaurant food was average and we happened to experience the traditional island night which we found noisy and annoying but I’m sure others would enjoy it if they haven’t seen it before. Overall - not for us and we wished we had simply caught the connecting ✈️ to Aitutaki from our flight from Auckland. Everyone told us we wouldn’t make the transfer but little did we know the Raratonga Airline waits for you.

Not enough loungers around the pool. Hot water in the room was cold/lukewarm. Staff not overly accommodating. Roosters/chickens disrupted the tranquility from 4.30am and were even in the restaurant.

The location is fantastic and the staff are amazing. Always smiling and obliging.

The villa we had on the beach was dated, this is rated a 5 star property so disappointed with the villa. Many things mentioned on Booking.com that were suppose to be available were not. The kitchen had minimal cutlery and utensils (x2 knives, forks, spoons, tspoons, x2 dinner plates etc) no radio, DVD or CD player, TV was fuzzy, clothes airer was missing a part and ants inside and outside everywhere.

Our pool villa was very clean, spacious and well appointed. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We Loved it!

Some of the restaurant bar staff were quite unfriendly and had a really weird vibe/attitude towards each other and us as guests. This is a smoking permitted property. A number of guests smoking near the pool bar… it was hard to get away from the smell/2nd hand smoke. We ended up going back to our room.

My husband and I have just returned from 3 nights staying at the Crown Beach Resort. We booked a Courtyard Pool Suite which was fantastic inside, albiet a little dark. Our Suite (Number 29), was at the back of the resort and backed onto the resorts industrial area. A majority of the times we went to relax in the Courtyard Pool Area we were greeted with the smell of sewerage and lots of mosquitos even in the middle of the day when the sun was shining. I literally had to lather up in insect repellent just to sun bath by the courtyard pool without getting eaten alive by mosquitos which wasn't enjoyable. I'd maybe suggest requesting a room closer to the beach for hopefully less smell and mosquitos. Part of the reason we chose this resort was because it was adults only, however the restaurant is open to anyone and everyone to book, so we encountered children every time we dined in the restaurant (breakfast, lunch & dinner). We went to the bar for Happy Hour which was fantastically priced and delicious $8 Cocktails, however there was no atmosphere and the outlook was into a marquee that was set up for a wedding reception. I can however recommend the Sunday Roast Special which was delicious and the restaurant service was great + there was live entertainment. I was also impressed that the breakfast buffet included in the room rate had not only continental breakfast options, but also hot dishes such as bacon, eggs, hashbrowns etc included. Francis on reception was absolutely lovely and very helpful. She mentioned to us when we checked into the hotel that the hotel WIFI was very intermittent (and that it was). We had a staff member offer to give us a lift to the markets on Saturday which was much appreciated. Unfortunately i didn't get his name. But we appreciated the lift and hospitality. And yes there are Roosters crowing at all hours off the morning and night, so i'd suggest taking some earplugs

Booked the couples private dining on the beach for a special occasion. Much better food and Servive down the road at Maniua On The Beach Restaurant.

Very Friendly and accommodating service. Beautiful villa and private pool handy. Resort always clean. Restaurant food very good and enjoyed buffet breakfast. Beautiful place to stay. Loved our stay definitely recommend
