The Chanler at Cliff Walk

Had a pleasant stay at a nice resort on Cliff Walk in Newport. This is a great location for our stay in Newport Beach. We chose it due to location and favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. The major deficiency hit us in the face when the staff took us to our room. Two planter boxes at our doorstep with dead plants!!!! Yikes! A high-end resort with impeccably maintained ground, but we get to look at dead plants from our living room!!!! Not acceptable. I spoke to the front desk multiple times to rectify this situation without success. They did remove the two worst dead plants but left an empty planter box at our front door along with the other planter box with two mostly dead boxwoods. Managment did not address our concerns or offer any accommodations for a serious deficiency.

Beautiful, unique hotel in a great location - right next to the Cliff Walk and the beach - beautifully maintained, and very clean. Great indoors and outdoors restaurants, including famous Cara. Outstanding service - we were treated like royalty. Can't wait to go back.

From the moment we checked in we felt well taken care of. The staff is extremely attentive and makes your stay so special. The room was beautiful, clean and we loved the decor. Breakfast was a major highlight at the hotel each morning (not included in price) but well worth it. Block island room comes with a personal sauna and hot tub. Both were very clean. They also offered the hotel car to take us to the downtown Newport area, but we walked every time we went which was a one mile easy walk one way.

Beautiful INN in a great location.The staff pays attention to detail and is friendly. The afternoon view from the garden is perfect.

The Chanler is such a dream. We got married there and have been coming back a few times a year. Before the renovation, The Chanler was already our favorite place on Earth; now it feels otherworldly. I will echo the review below by noting that the breakfast at Easton's Room was particularly divine. More broadly, each new dinner dish is spectacular, and it's easy to see how all the seemingly effortless flavors were carefully and masterfully crafted over months by Chef Jasinski. Lani Shufelt and team have truly orchestrated such a unique and artful addition to New England. Cara/Remy's Loose are now without a doubt our very favorite restaurant(s), and we feel truly lucky to get to simply drive there from Boston. (Our annual Italy/France trips will be reconsidered!) We just booked another stay this summer, and we'll keep our fingers crossed for the no-breakfast-at-Easton-Room policy to have been a temporary blip! Having breakfast overlooking the Atlantic from within Cara's setting with classical music was likewise our favorite part of the new Chanler experience.

We absolutely adored our stay! We were so fortunate to have the ocean view room with terrace. We had an amazing time on this private terrace! We watched the sunrise in the early morning, sipped coffee, and admired the beautiful ocean waves during the day. And guess what? We even had a romantic champagne toast under the moonlight on the same terrace! The “Renaissance” room is absolutely breathtaking and charming. It truly lives up to its name. The spacious and comfortable bed, the beautifully appointed furniture, the elegant decor, the cozy fireplace, and the luxurious marble bathroom - it’s all just too much to take in. And let’s not forget the jacuzzi in the room - we definitely made the most of it!

Our stay at The Chanler far exceeded our expectations. Every staff member was welcoming and friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the grounds were beautiful. It is truly a top-notch hotel!
