"Excellent"

8.0

Great hotel with excellent food. The first room was large and quiet, but the TV didn't work, so they immediately switched us to second room. That TV didn't work so they brought in another.. We had to pay for the Internet, which surprised us, and it only is good for 24 hours and for one computer. We couldn't use the same code for a second computer. It would be nice if coffee were available other than the posted breakfast hours.

"The Hotel Sonnenbichl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen"

10.0

The hotel is conveniently located on the outskirts of Garmisch. It's about a 75 minute drive from the Munich airport to the hotel. You should plan ahead and order a German road map from AAA and map out the directions as to which autobahns you will need to connect to in order to reach the hotel. The hotel offers easy access to all the must-see sights such as King Ludwig II's castles; the Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. The wood carvers capital of Oberammegau is also a short drive from the hotel. It's a 10 minute drive from the hotel to the center of town and there is a bus stop located a short walk from the hotel. Having visited Garmisch on several occasions while living and working in Germany, I was somewhat familiar with the area, but first time visitors should have no problem finding their way.

"A comfortable place"

8.0

The hotel was a way out of the town center, about a 20min walk. We felt a little young staying at the hotel as most guests were older. (we are in our early 40's) The room was large compared to our other European hotels. The hotel is old and this was evident in the bathroom. No ventialtion and some mold in the shower. In the evening the bar was open late and accomadating. I would stay again if I couldn't find something in the town.

"We'll Stay There Again"

10.0

The Hotel was a obviously an older hotel, but kept up quite nicely. The staff was very freindly and helpful. Electrical adapters were available for US and British electrical appliances. We rented a car in Munich, so it was nice to have the hotel a little out of town and avoid all the traffic, unless you were specifically going to Garmisch. Easy access to the Autobahn to Munich or to Garmisch. About 5 minute drive to Garmisch and about 45 minutes to Munich. Balconies were nice for mountain gazing and cattle watching. Quiet neighborhood. We will definitely stay there again.

"Sonnenbichl - worked for us"

8.0

We picked the Sonnenbichl since it was the only upscale option available our July weekend due to the motor-rad. I did not notice that rooms have no a/c when booking. it was plenty cool at night with open windows, but some people are not used to this. the bathroom could have used a new tile job, but I found it average for european standards. if you are used to american hotel bathrooms, you will be disappointed. the bed had a very comfortable mattress pad. probably most comfortable bed of trip. this place is on the outskirts of town so you will have to drive or bus to the main part of Garmisch or Partenkirchen. In exchange for that, you get great views from one side of the hotel and the restaurant/bar. The hotel is very large and can feel empty even when it was fully booked one of our nights there. overall a pleasant experience.

"Great Stay!!"

10.0

The hotel itself is only a 5 minute drive, 15 minute walk from Garmisch. Quiet area, kind of out of the way but not too much. Very close to the Zugspitze and Eibsee. A couple hours from Innsbruck and Munich. Very friendly, professional staff that speaks English well. Very comfortable rooms. The beds and pillows were a little too soft, but I prefer more support when I sleep. The rooms were cleaned daily and I never had an issue getting a bathrobe or anything extra. The pool area is small to American standards but has a couple of features that make up for it. Such as massage jets and a stationary swimming jet. The astetic of the pool area is very relaxing. The prices of the restaurant inside the hotel are compareable to downtown which are a bit high but affordable. Overall, great stay. When we come back to Garmisch, we will definately stay here again.

"Outstanding Staff."

The staff was extremely nice, kind and very helpful. The breakfast was not included, and was quite pricey even though there was a good variety of food. Everyone was very professional and could communicate very well in english. Would definately stay again, the staff was great.

"Nice hotel - would stay at again"

10.0

We were really impressed with the staff and comfort of this hotel. The facilities were good, including pool and sauna, and the room had a safe which was free to use. Although the hotel is situated some distance from the town centre, we found it to be easily walkable in 15-20 minutes. In addition, we were provided with a local visitor's card at the hotel reception which gave us free local use of the local buses which could be used to get to and from the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.
