The Merchant City Inn

Was staying there for 3 days and the room wasn’t serviced once

Overall this "inn" if you can call it that was very unprofessional, staff and especially owners were very unhelpful, and in general I feel scammed. I would not recommend giving money to this establishment.

Okay but we were 4 floors up a spiral staircase with luggage and we are not young.

Staff were rude and contradicted themselves when trying to con us for £25 as we were 6 minutes late checking out. Ended up bartering with us and we settled for £10 which no doubt went straight in his back pocket

The hotel should be required to list ALL policies in the designated “policies” section of Hotels.com. Upon arrival, I was told that only hotel guests are able to enter their private room. This is a private hotel, not a shared accommodation (ie hostel). My adult daughter met me in Glasgow and I was looking forward to spending time with her in the comfort and privacy of my room. [She was staying elsewhere with friends.] I was not impressed with the manager’s “Jay” guest service and/or retention skills. Otherwise great location and the rooms are clean. There is street noise at night, but it did not bother me.

Charging for a cooked breakfast £3 when breakfast is included per person is just ridiculous. No lift, to access 3rd floor room on a steep spiral staircase with luggage was really difficult. The rooms need a updating, mouldy and very tiny shower cubicle. Curtains very dirty.....Too overpriced!! Will not recommend!....

Nice little hotel in a old style building in the Heart of Glasgow. Very handy for shopping and transport.

Front desk during the day are very nice however the night shift is not very helpful. Also beware, it is extremely loud during the night. Bring ear plugs!
