In general, my wife and I were very pleased with our stay at the Yankee Clipper Inn. We had a lovely room in the Quarterdeck House with a fine view of the ocean through a large window. All the rooms in the inn seem to be different. Ours had no balcony, others did. We had an ocean view, others didn't. The air conditioning in our room worked very well, thankfully. One of the days we were there was beastly hot and the A/C was a life saver. The included breakfasts in the main building were very nice. There is one concern that should be addressed however. My wife and I are elderly but not handicapped. A handicapped person would have a very difficult time staying in the Quarterdeck House. To get to the house you must walk down what I thought was a rather steep set of stairs and then a steep pathway down to the entrance. The real problem was in order to get into the main part of the inn for breakfast, for example, you could not cross over the expansive lawn. There is another house not owned by the inn between the two buildings of the inn and you are not allowed to walk across that lawn. That means that to go to breakfast from the Quarterdeck house to the Yankee Clipper, you have to walk up a steep pathway and then up steep stone stairs, then walk along the road and then down a long steep driveway. It was tough enough for us; I don't know how a handicapped person could manage all that. That said, we still had a good time. My advice is choose your room carefully.

"Your stay at the Clipper will be the highpoint of your trip."

10.0

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean. The buildings and facilities are meticulously maintained, not a blade of grass out of place. Very comfortable rooms, some with balconies offering ocean views. Full complimentary sit down breakfast in the main buildings dining room. The staff is very helpful, the Manager Mike is awesome and only a phone call away. Everything about the Yankee Clipper is perfect, we can’t recommend it enough. Five Stars!

Not one thing.

Gorgeous and elegant buildings with amazing ocean view Tasty a-la-carte breakfast menu with a yogurt/coffee bar Friendly and helpful staff Big thanks to Pam for her warm morning welcomes 😊

The only minor disappointment was that the shower drain is sluggish.

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Yankee Clipper Inn. We stayed in the Quarterdeck Inn that’s next to the larger Inn. Our room overlooked the ocean. It felt like we were on a cruise ship - it looked that close. The room was spacious with a really nice sitting area where you can view the ocean. The room was clean, comfortable with a small but updated bathroom. The Inn was very quiet and well maintained. Parking is close but keep in mind you have a manage down a granite stairway to get to the Inn. Each morning we walked over to the Yankee Clipper for breakfast. The staff there were amazing. Super friendly, and can handle anything you need. Mike at the front desk (I assume is the owner or manager) Is great. The made to order breakfasts were delicious. The grounds are breathtaking - walkways, patios, cliffs, sunrise views - all beautiful. We loved every minute there. The area around the Inns are so much fun - its about a 15 min walk (or a 3 min drive) to the main town but well worth it and easier than I expected. The town has tons of shops, a couple beaches and many restaurants to check out. The city of Gloucester is just a few mins drive and worth the visit. Be sure to drive up Halibut Point State Park while you’re in Rockport. I am usually ready to head home after a vacation week - but I wished we could have stayed longer!

"DO NOT LOOK FURTHER. A GEM!!"

My husband and I celebrated my milestone birthday with my children and grandchildren (Ten of us) for long Memorial Day weekend. Four grandchildren ages 15-25. Our suites in the main house were well appointed and so spacious. An extremely large and spacious bedroom leading into a big fully glassed in sunroom with ample seating and leading up two steps to a large patio sun deck with table and chairs all overlooking the ocean. Bedrooms and sunroom had their own heat/ac systems. For privacy Mike had a trundle bed and cot put in the sunroom so both kids and parents had their own privacy. We took three separate guest suites overlooking the ocean. We stayed in main house in Flying Cloud , my daughter and her family The Sea Witch and son and family. in Quarterdeck on 3rd floor looking directly out at the ocean. All rooms overlook the Atlantic with the rocky ledges and the soft sound of the surf. Our son couldn’t stop talking about the view from his room and raved about the state of the art shower that is way beyond anything he could imagine. Mike, the general manager helped my husband with our choices. The rooms are so well insulated that you don’t even know anyone else was on your floor. He is so nice and accommodating and treats this as if he were the owner. They serve a full breakfast every morning along with a special of the day. You walk into this beautiful long and rectangular dining room with white tablecloths and seating by the wide expanse windows overlooking the Atlantic. Aside from menu items, in another room at the bar they have a setup to make your own yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit, etc. The breakfasts are perfectly cooked and what else can one say about this experience that couldn’t get any better but it can. You walk into this beautiful room with tables along the window, take your seats and are greeted by either Claire or Pam with the warmest smiles welcoming you and you immediately feel like family!!!!! If you want low key you have it but our family of ten are very outgoing and we loved our conversations with these two women . They just make their guests their priority and are outstanding in their own ways. Mike also is on premises and is very present with every guest. They also have a gift shop and they sell specialty chocolates by Serenade single or boxed. After breakfast 8-10 we walked outside by the salt water pool and sat in the gazebo by the water before are touristy things for the day. There is also a large living room in this main house where you can hang out, with many books to read or games to play. The grounds are beautiful and woodsy. Landscapers are out every morning tending to trees, shrubs, and flowers. Downtown Rockport shopping area is very quaint and minutes away and Gloucester very close. We have travel with our kids, Europe, cruise, and domestic and this getaway is one that will remain at the top of memorable vacation. We were on our own, our own pace Thank you Mike, Claire, and Oam for helping make this weekend one of the best ever.
