voco Formosa Park – Algarve

We have just returned from a lovely stay at the hotel. The location is really great being very close to the beach and not too far from the shops. We did hire a car so we could go to some of our favourite locations and there were always plenty of spaces. We were given a room very near to the swimming pool which was very convenient for the children. The rooms are very clean although slightly dated but the kitchen was well equipped. There were always plenty of free sunbeds and parasols throughout the day which takes away a lot of stress and means you can totally relax. The buffet breakfast was very good offering lots of choice. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times which is very good value for money and the service and food was excellent. We were very lucky that we arrived early and our room was ready which meant we got to maximise the time we were there and our holiday got off to a great staff. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and I'm sure we will be returning. All in all a wonderful stay.

We perhaps are a little biased, but we've been going to Formosa Park for quite a few years and it ticks all of our boxes! The location is excellent for the beach, but you do need a car to get to the local restaurants, bars etc I think it is worth highlighting the nearby beaches, which are quite honestly amazing, especially first thing in the morning when you will be accompanied by a few other walkers and runners and the sounds of the sea! The pool area is excellent, especially for young families, although our boys are a lot older and they really enjoy it also. We always use a family room and these are always clean and comfortable and have enough room for five people. My final comments are reserved for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at Formosa Park. I cannot emphasise enough this last point; it makes your holiday so much more pleasant to deal with staff who consistently are looking after you and are quick to sort out any small problems/concerns that always crop up on holiday. Well done guys: brilliant, as usual!

The staff are without exception hospitable, professional and friendly which made our short stay pleasant and lovely. We were told we would not be disappointed with the view from our poolside accommodation and this was absolutely true stunning and incomparable. The whole experience utterly amazing.

Having booked our holiday we noticed that the hotel was being offered on a golf holiday website, and frankly this hotel is ideal for groups of golfers on short breaks. Although the hotel is "very nice" I would not recommend it for a family or "couples" holiday as we were surrounded by groups of noisy Jack Nicklaus wannabes at mealtimes and late evening. Apartments are well appointed with most, if not all required equipment, good furnishings and plenty of storage space. The view over the pool from our balcony was pleasing although building orientation did not allow sun to penetrate the balcony area at any time during the day. Balcony just wide enough to accommodate chairs and table only. Would not have been happy, however, if I had been allocated a ground or first floor room within yards of the car park! Good points; nice pool and surroundings and plenty of pool beds; good breakfast although cramped dining area when golfers gathered together, nice outdoor dining space; helpful, knowledgable staff throughout hotel. Downside; the quality of the beds, OK if one had ingested enough liquid anaesthetic at night but not for my elderly back resulting in 5 days broken, painful, sleep. Some nice restaurants in the locality and beach bars/restaurants are all very good but only accessible with a car. Good spa but no other distractions or entertainment. Overall an adequate short break holiday with nothing overtly detrimental, but would not return unless it was a for a golfing break.

We enjoyed it because it was in a very quiet environment in the middle of a fresh though close to the beach.

Not many bars in area and definitely need a car to get round ideal if a golfer but otherwise the use of a taxi is a must can't fault hotel and staff first class

Huge family room kept very clean and all staff very helpful. Breakfast excellent and buffet continuously refreshed. Can get a good lunch or dinner on site but no supermarket which is 3km at the top of the road so definitely get a car. Hotel slightly hard to find when we arrived in the dark but will likely be back.

Very Convenient one bed apartment with lovely swimming pool, very close to the beach and friendly staff.

Fantastic hotel with spacious apartment rooms , large balconies and a lovely pool. Good choice of breakfast foods. Beds too firm for my liking and very flat pillows but good quality bed linen. Well equipped kitchen except for the lack of a kettle so needed to boil water in a pan. Well situated for golf , shopping and airport.
