Southmoreland on the Plaza an Urban Inn

A beautiful historical property nestled in the heart of one of Kansas City’s most beautiful areas. In addition to being so close to the iconic Nelson-Atkins Museum, there are so many great restaurant options, unique shopping, and much to see and do nearby. A wonderful quiet retreat after a day/evening enjoying the city and all it has to offer.

The property is comfortable, and looks great. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and in the garden next to the water feature. The parking lot is very tight, and has just enough spots for 1 car per room. The location is very convenient with many restaurants within easy walking distance.

Love this area and have stayed in a few of the restored mansions/hotels. This one definitely is not kept up like others. Room and bathroom very small and home overall showing its age. Should have noted that room was on 3rd floor.

Wonderful location! Walking distance to 2 museums with lots of eating options. Loved the large balcony off the room. Has lots of pretty spots on the grounds to sit at outside. The only negative was the bathroom didn’t have any space to put toiletries, though we got creative with the space. Recommend if you want to stay somewhere other than a chain hotel.

An absolutely delightful experience from start to finish! Southmoreland on the Plaza will be my “forever favorite” of places to stay in Kansas City. Charming, comfortable, clean…with everything one could ask for… and location, location, location!… close to so much, yet quiet and private. I would also like to mention that my experience with management, specifically Justin, was truly amazing. Each email I sent, each question I asked, was answered promptly and professionally…so welcoming and informative! When my flight was unexpectedly delayed and my arrival was very late, I was assured that all would be ready and it was! My room was simply perfect! I will be returning…again and again!

The property is a bit older but very well kept inside and out. The parking right off the street on the property was very convenient. We had a very nice stay.

This is a wonderful old house turned into an inn. It was full of charm and history! The only complaints were no elevator to help get bags upstairs so pack light. And the parking lot was very small and hard to turn around in so don’t bring a big vehicle.

We were glad we had a little car that we could maneuver in the parking lot. It was a cozy room within walking distance of the Art museums so it was great for us. We appreciated the cleanliness of the entire building.

Everything was perfect except for the parking. I would HIGHLY recommend.
