Adventure Inn

If you are looking for an authentic Costa Rican hotel near SJO airport and not a chain hotel, I highly recommend Adventure Inn. I worked with Eric Robinson to arrange group reservations, and he sent me so much information to make our stay comfortable. Free shuttles from and returning to the airport were easily arranged. The restaurant in the hotel, Moon Glow Bar & Grill, was open for dinner when the group arrived, and a delicious breakfast in the morning was included in the stay. Thank you to Eric and the hotel staff for taking such good care of our group. Life is good in Costa Rica. Pura vida

We ended our trip to CR at this hotel, based on the recommendation of a friend. I wanted somewhere to stay that our kids (ages 8 and 11) would have fun; that had character; and that had airport service for our flight out. I couldn't have picked a better place! We really enjoyed the pool area. The kids needed somewhere where they could get out their energy, and my husband and I needed somewhere where we could relax. We were able to order a couple poolside drinks, and we treated the kids to some fruity, blended drinks too. My daughter said, "Now THIS is luxury living!" as she lounged poolside with a drink in hand. HA!! We ate both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The food was great, and the servers were so friendly. We still don't know what all the types of fruit were at breakfast, but they were delicious! We were super fortunate to meet the artist who painted all the lovely pictures everywhere (for the past twenty years, I believe!), and she told us some incredible stories! We felt like the hotel was safe and welcoming for our family, and we would definitely return if we're ever lucky enough to be in the area again! Thanks for making memories for our family!

The hotel started off on the wrong foot when I got to my reserved room for 2 queen beds only to discover there was only 1 queen with a twin and the room was not as described in reservation. I went back to the front desk who did acknowledge I was put into this room as they were fully booked, yet I checked in at 4 pm and was questioning why I should be the one to get a smaller room than requested. Finally I was told the real reason was that they had a group of students staying at the hotel and they wanted to keep the students together. This was not a satisfactory reason to me and I was finally given the room I reserved, but as we discovered later it was in the wing where the students were staying, 4 to a room. To add to the misery, we could not eat in the dining room as we were told the dining room was reserved for the students and it was very noisy in there, and we could eat in our room or in the hallway. The dining room host was very hospitable and told us he would bring our meal up to our room which he did. We were then woken at 3 am when the group was getting up to leave by a constant knocking at the doors in the hallway by us, and the noise of the kids clamoring around and talking loudly to each other. The hotel has a posting of "quiet hours" from 8 pm-8 am which wasn't enforced. The positives about the hotel were the hosts at the dining room were very gracious, and the breakfast was plentiful with a large selection of fruit. We also appreciated the free shuttle service. In summary, before you book your hotel room I would advise asking if there are large groups staying at the hotel, and if there are, go elsewhere!

Our stay at the Adventure Inn was a perfect introduction to Costa Rica and the start of our trip. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful , from the reception staff, to those at the bar and restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable and I wish we’d had time to use the pool. I also now know that they can organise tours too so would highly recommend . Thanks for a great stay

I love Adventure Inn! You make traveling to Costa Rica so easy, taking care of all the details, which not only makes our stay and Adventure Inn wonderful, but ensures we have an enjoyable visit in Costa Rica. The staff is friendly and it feels like home! I will always use Adventure Inn!

The hotel is OLD and odd. The bed was uncomfortable with old bedding. The towles had holes and were all scratchy and worn out. The bathroom was NASTY!!!! mold in ceiling and walls, balck stain on grout in shower, chippped and old mirror, lots of misquitos. Stay somewhere else.

Adventure Inn is a charming spot in San Jose. With spacious rooms and tropical decor in the hallways, you definitely feel you are in an oasis! The staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful. The variety of tropical fruit at breakfast was something I looked forward to daily!

We stayed here for one night on our way to other destinations in Costa Rica but should have stayed longer. It was great! Friendly staff, awesome pool, excellent breakfast with the best fruit spread of any place we stayed, and decent sized rooms. We can highly recommend this as an excellent place close to the airport (and with free shuttle!).

Comfortable rooms, nice pool and hot tub, excellent breakfast!! Pre-trip communication was excellent and our stay was perfect. Onsite staff was very helpful. Shuttle to and from the airport was very easy. Would highly recommend and we will likely stay again!!
