Painter's Lodge, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

My wife and I stayed one night at Painter's Lodge. The Assistant General Manager, Adil Jaria, kindly upgraded us to the main lodge with a balcony and sea view. The rooms are being renovated, but are already looking attractive. From the restaurant table, we watched killer whales surfacing, splashing and making their way through the strait. What was particularly appreciated by us was the friendly and professional manner of the AGM at the front desk. Thank you, Adil! We look forward to seeing you next time!

Lovely property with great views. All the staff especially the restaurant and bar were welcoming and wonderful. Front desk staff were also wonderful. We come to Campbell River frequently as we live on one of the outer islands. We have tried a lot of other local hotels and now Painter’s Lodge is our preference. We’ve already booked our next stay. We would highly recommend!

We stayed here for the first time for one night . The lodge is beautiful, rich with character. Rennovations are ongoing and did not interfer with our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable, very quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lodge reminds me of Jasper Park Lodge with its old world charm, which I hope they maintain. The restaurant is being rennovated so dining is currently in the pub . My only critique is that the music was "pub like" and not conducive to a relaxing dinner or breakfast, perhaps a soft jazz. more classy for this grand hotel. Food was excellent and service great. Will be staying there again. I did travel with my service dog and they were most accommodating. All in all a great stay !

An absolute gem of a place. Hanif the manager and Dawn our waitress were astonishingly welcoming. In the days where service seems to be a thing of the past, this place stands head and shoulders above the rest and harkens back to the days of olde. Try the calamari. Come for the scenic spot and stay for the good times! We will definitely enjoy again

I did not stay at the hotel as I am a local, but wanted to leave a review about the restuarant. Amazing vibes, food and stuff. Thank you Hanif and Dawn for the excellent service.

I wrote a Google review back in June 2025, and for some reason they will not let me add a fresh review, so I'm coming here to rave some more. As I said back in June, I used to work at Painters for many, many years and so it's a very important place to me, many of my friends and family, and all of Campbell River. After I left in June (which was a great experience - you can go check my Google review!) I couldn't wait for the next time to get back. I just stayed one night last week (amazing offseason price for a gorgeous ocean view to wake up to from a main-lodge room), prior to driving up to Port Hardy for some meetings. Continues to get better and better! Amazing service, great vibe/feeling of activity around the resort, AMAZING large bath towels, everything clean, helpful staff, busy pub even around 7:30 pm when I checked in on Wednesday night (which was unheard of under the last ownership). I'm going to keep giving these new owners their flowers and kudos every time I stay - I just love what's happening and as a former Campbell Riverite (hope to come home day) and longtime former Painter's employee, I just could not be more happy for the City, it's people, tourists etc. Thank you so much to the new ownership and management for doing such an amazing job and reviving this gem.

I will start by saying we have been there many times over the years starting with being the coordinator for a Corporate trip in the first year they re-opened so I have to say I have seen the range of their rise which is a plus and a challenge. From Day One it was a destination making me a hero for finding it that year. I watched it grow and evolve with extra buildings, more boats (50+, maybe 75), a luxury prime restaurant where yachts dropped off people in formal dress for supper and the water taxi to April Point. We had several personal trips and 2 more Corporate trips so it was sad to see the news it had slipped (seriously to poor) BUT for a special occasion for us as a couple we booked anyway. We got an Oceanside room but a local said be sure you ask for the Lodge as it is fully refurbished --- we did & got the best room! Great updates!! Upon arrival it looks like so many times before but looking a bit deeper now the electricity of the Pub is just a Bar & Grill, the lounge off the Lobby is essentially empty and the main restaurant is closed (although we saw management teams in looking). Some exterior items --- decks, doors -- still need attention. Some items like ice machines are not working but the pool is back but the hot tub is closed for now. They did add several BBQ's in the pool area for you to cook your own. One thing virtually absent are decent fishing options --- they are by a third party with 3 Whalers and a Cruiser or two >>> at high prices compared to off-site options. A Bar & Grill review will be posted separately ... but will we go there again as they hopefully continue to the improvement process >>> definitely! btw --- the front staff is amazing!!!

Painters Lodge was a really memorable experience. The location right on the east coast of Vancouver Island cannot be beaten. Large, comfortable rooms and a fantastic view from the large balcony. We spent a couple of great days in the area, and can warmly recommend this place as a base.
