Inn at Starlight Lake & Restaurant

We stayed here for one night on our way to Bethel woods for the Woodstock Week. It was a very pleasant stay across from a nice lake , good food and atmosphere, great helpful host that helped us with everything-we needed ... recommended

Booked a room overnight with my family. We paid 260 for the room and we didn't get value for money. Positives, the lady who checked us in was very nice. The bathroom was clean and the lobby is quaint. Older and cared for is wonderful, but the room was very disappointing. The walls were dirty, the fan housing collapsed on top of the ceiling fan, the grout between the tiles was missing in the bathroom, the chairs outside our room we're filthy along with the wooden deck. Maybe I'm being picky, but I'm guessing most customers care about these things.

Beautiful, quaint inn. The staff was very personable. No air conditioning...but you don't need it. No TV..but a dock and beautiful lake. Breakfast was included. Very good. Small bar. We were on a motorcycle trip with friends.

After the proprietor reluctantly checked us in, walked us past cobwebs and overgrown weeds to the creepy cottage area, we were directed up rotted out stairs, past a slithering snake to our dilapidated, slanted room with exposed electrical outlets and stains on the carpet. We slept with one eye open for two reasons: the guests next to our room tried unsuccessfully to get through the locked door that joined both rooms (they were likely trying to escape), and we were thinking that at any minute our torture chamber could start to collapse. When the sun rose, my first words to my wife were: "We made it!" We skipped breakfast after a "not so hot" shower and drove as fast as we could to get away. Adding insult to inconvenience: the eye-gouging, hiked-up price for unsuspecting camper families. Beware, or sleep in your car.

Hancock is known for its fly fishing and wilderness serenity in the Catskills. Although myself and family are avid outdoors lovers, we can attest that there is something more exemplary in this area to mention. That would be the Inn at Starlight Lake. Just over the border into Pennsylvania is a quintessential turn of the century inn set overlooking beautiful Starlight Lake. The inn can boast of clean, quiet, and comfortable bedded rooms amongst the wood, an epicurean dining experience available for all meals with spectacular breakfast included in price of room and much more.. The innkeeper and her staff exuded the epitome of hospitality as we misshaped upon the inn after blowing our cars transmission in the middle of the Catskills on a holiday weekend. The selfless owner not only picked us up at the garage but then the next day gave a ride to Binghamton 1 1/2 hrs away to pick up a rental car so my daughter could get her diabetes camp in Rochester. We were traveling with our dog and she warmly welcomed even by the inn's kitty cats. It was glorious to verbally and socially interact with people in the dining room, pub and the common rooms/areas at the inn. Did not miss being plugged in to TV/media. Take the time to sit by the serenity of the Lake and read. Break out a board game in the main lobby and play with your children or sig other in the front of the fireplace. Start up a mean game of ping pong in the family room and laugh. If the Wifi is so important on vacation, grab a libation at the pub and the sit on the front porch with the crickets chirping and do your emails or phone calls there. Way better than the hustle/bustle/stress of being home. Overall can't say enough about Starlight Lake Inn. We were blessed to breakdown near it.
